Guest guest Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 sometimes the journey is harder than the destination. oh how true this is. we worry about everything and the doctors say do not worry. but nature says until i am proven wrong i will worry.as hard a it is i must rememeber that god is in control. i may not be able to do anything about a situation but i can have hope and faith that things will go ok. and if it doesn't then i wil need help to cope. this is where friends are. they laugh with me and cry with me. they may not be there by my side but i now they will be here in spirit and prayer. thanks for being here. cathy Quote

Guest guest Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 Cathy - And thank you for being here too. Is there a mushier group than us anywhere? I think not. You know that thing about the journey sometimes being harder than the destination? Well, I've found that to work a different way, too. Sometimes, if we let it, the journey can let us have as much pleasure as the destination. I can think of plenty of times when I've had just as much fun on the planning something (e.g., a trip or a party) as I've had when I arrived. Remembering back to all of the planning for my trip to New Orleans....Now that is a definite example. I honestly took more pleasure in all of the stuff leading up to it than I did in New Orleans (with apologies to the folks from New Orleans!). Cathy, I hope today gives you some pleasure. Guest guest Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Cathy - Given that the house was built in 1726, I probably wouldn't have much luck going after the guys that built this place. It usually isn't much of a problem....honest. I'll just wait til the wman who lives in the front part digs her way out the the barn.....She'll shovel a path to my door at least to get me out of here. Guest guest Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Barb, My home was built in the late 1800's and when my land loard started to remodel, he spent the least amount of money that he had to! Anyhow the last snowstorm we had the plow ran my mailbox over and it is now tied to a utility pole until the dirt softens and I can get another one, and both my front and back doors open outward and with the cheapness of the doors and all the wind we are having the snow keeps coming right into the house on the hardwood floors!!! I have towels out to protect the floors!!! I really hope that I am able to buy this house someday and do some renovations like new doors and windows!!!! Well I really hope all is well with you and hope to hear from you soon! We got a little over a foot and a half of snow and it's way to much for me!!! Take Care and Best Wishes Always!!!! Guest guest Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Dawn - Sounds like you got the same amount of snow that we did. With the winds blowing, there's no point in shoveling yet. It's gorgeous but I don't think that it's going to disappear on its own for a while. My poor friend (lol) got snowbound in Florida and wasn't able to get tickets out for another two days. Gonna shoot her when she gets back. Barbara dawn lorenz wrote: Barb, My home was built in the late 1800's and when my land loard started to remodel, he spent the least amount of money that he had to! Guest guest Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 Cathy, Please know how much I feel for you and wish I could take all of your pain away for you! I wish I really had the right words for you and could just give you a big hug right now! I have a couple of questions for you though! Will you and your husband be able to spend some time with you granddaughter and get to see her on a regular basis? I certainly hope so, because it sounds like you are a great grandma with lots of love for the children!!!!! Also what type of punishment will be given to your son and daughter in law? Will they go to jail? You do not have to answer if you do not want to! Take Care and please know that I am thinking of all of you! My prayers are with you all! LOL! Guest guest Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 Cathy- Again, email me privately....If you're open to it, I would be glad to give you a phone call and we can talk. iven what you have shared about the abuse, I am encouraged by the judge's response. Sometimes kids are taken away needlessly (very sad) and sometimes kids aren't removed when they should be. The system is far from perfect, but then neither is the world. I believe, though, at any given moment in time that we each are doing the best that we can. Seriously, if you'd like to talk (my nickel...I now have free long-distance), email me and we'll work out a time that fits for both of us sleepy-heads. Guest guest Posted February 26, 2005 Report Posted February 26, 2005 Cathy I recall your writing of heartache before and knew your family treats you badly but never would I of thought your sweet grand-babies were living in this hell. I do pray for the grandkids that those involved in their life now, can reach them and help them put the terror in a place knowing it can't hurt them now as they are living in safe place. I can only imagine your sorrow and anger when know how the 2 older kids are struggling. Cathy are you able to talk to them via phone or on computer? Are they in home and do they have regular help for dealing with the terror lived in? Please know how sorry I am, not just for the kids but for you as know you must have such an urge to take your body and cover your grand-kids in a cocoon of your love. I have felt such need to protect before than somehow if could take all of who I am and pull it out to cover the open wounds would do so. Hope to hear from you Cathy. Guest guest Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Thanks, Faye, although I have to say that my current mood is not particularly inspirational. I'm okay, though, and will get through all of this. By the way, that foot in the door that several of you have referred, I have always called "doorway paralysis." Kinda of like either not wanting to leave where you are to go into the next place or just knowing what the next place is and not wanting to go there period (like when you have to go in for a treatment and you linger at the doorway that enters the hospital/clinic). I talked with Elsie and the results weren't back yet from the body scan that was done yesterday. I loved hearing her doc's attitude that he approaches every cancer with the intention of going for a complete cure and nothing else. She reemed him out (in a joking way) when she heard that she wouldn't lose weight from the treatment, only her hair. She said that unless he changed what he said that she was going to be writing terrible things about him on the wall of the ladie's rooms throughout the city. Gotta love her. Will have a PET scan on Monday and start chemo on Tuesday....three days on and eighteen days off for 4 - 6 (max) rounds. Also radiation will start between second and third cycle. Her attitude is good, a fair and healthy amount of denial along with a solid measure of anger (esp about her hair....royally ticked about this. Very tired here....storm still happening but I shoveled a path to my car so I could get to it (Dr. appt tomorrow morning). Will be less digging out that way tomorrow morning. Gonna crash. Love you and everyone here. BarbaraFAYE PAPPLE-MURRAY wrote: Barbara, you never cease to amaze me at your outlook and stamina for the best that life has to offer you. You are truly an inspiration to me and I thank you for showing me that there are so many things for me to look forward to. It is an honour to know you. My continued prayers for you and Elsie & Leah.
