Guest guest Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 It doesn't matter to me Dianne. I would just like to see someone who knows something like Gretchen and maybe Vicki as a good Type 1 example get some press and not always the almighty ADA. But I am sure Bill could take on the ADA if he thought it good. ml Kore wrote: >>maybe Bill O'Reilly on Fox News could maybe do an interview with Gretchen if > > she is willing? Guest guest Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 I think the average attention span of Americans is about 1 second, so most people have probably forgotten about the ABC story by this time. The same would be true if they interviewed some thin type 2s who had always exercised. They'd be interested for a minute or so and then forget it. BTW, there's an east Indian exchange teacher at the local high school, and that's one thing she noticed. In India she can lecture for about an hour before students start to get restless. Here, it's about 15 minutes. I don't know how many people saw the DLife show with Bernstein. He was given about a minute of time, and then a nutritionist came on and told people his diet was too extreme and all they need to do is to eat more fruits and vegetables. Guess which one people are going to remember. Gretchen Quote
Guest guest Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Nice of you to nominate me, ML, but I'm pretty sure this is a purely academic discussion. I kind of doubt that ABC will be interested. Vicki Re: ABC News Diabetes Item > It doesn't matter to me Dianne. For the most part, I enjoy it, especially when they discuss how to deal with having diabetes from an emotional standpoint. They do read a letter from a viewer each week, so if you're into writing (about low carbing for example), there is a venue for that. They push testing to the point where they stop the show and the entire studio audience and all of the hosts test their own BG at the same time. That's probably good for the public to see. Guest guest Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 That sure is a shame. I have never watched DLife show, do you know what channel and time? Is it any good? I guess not from what you said about Bernstein. One reason I had suggested Bill O'Reilly is that if he is interested in the topic you would get more time. But it would probably take someone who is good at talking about these things to prepare them. Oh Well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would put on my best attention span to hear you Gretchen. Of course that is not saying too much, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ml Gretchen wrote: > I think the average attention span of Americans is about 1 second, so most > people have probably forgotten about the ABC story by this time. Guest guest Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 > > I think the average attention span of Americans is about 1 second, Hey - that's probably double the average Aussie. Unless, of course, you're discussing cricket, football or some other sport. For example, today at 15:20 Melbourne time the entire nation will be glued to their TVs or radios for a little over three minutes for a horse-race. During that time concentration will be unwavering. Traffic will stop, Parliament will be suspended, no effective work will occur across the nation. Ring your local Oz Embassy or Consulate and no-one will answer. By tonight, every Aussie diabetic will know the name of the horse which won the 2005 Melbourne Cup. Almost none of them will know who Jennie Brand- is or what the Glycemic Load really is, or why their breakfast is sending them blind. It's all a matter of priorities, making sure you get things in their proper perspective:-) Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia Quote
Guest guest Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Aha, that is why I don't know about it, I never watch CNBC. I will have to check to see if I can get that and watch it. So it would be 4PM Pacific Standard Time. I am not very good about writing about any kind of medical stuff. But I will check out the show if I can remember, LOL!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Jeanne PeacefulNan@... wrote: > > In a message dated 10/31/2005 1:49:02 PM Eastern Standard Time, > dovup21@... writes: > > I have never watched DLife show, do you know what channel and > time? Guest guest Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 > so if you're into writing (about low carbing for > example) One of their board members is Joy Pape, who used to write the LC column for Diabetes Health. I've never seen the show because I don't get cable. I only saw the Bernstein segment because a kind person sent me a tape of the show. Gretchen Quote

Haven't you ever wondered why we win such a disproportionate number of Gold Medals at the Olympics and other meets? I especially liked those little pretzel-like things coated with it. The brand I remember from when I lived in Italy and could shop at the NATO Brit store was " Twiglets " . sky Quote
