Hi Tigger, I understand how you feel I have social anxiety disorder and its

horrible, I also get sick to my stomach when I have to go somewhere new, i even

make my docs appointments at the time that I know they are less busy which is

after lunchtime, and when going to a new doc i try to get the 1st appointment

of the day and try to be the 1st patient, its a sad life and to top it off

this hypo makes everything so much worse

yeah - but don't those of us still searching for our armour to be up'd and our

drs. to listen to us have that feeling? seriously - I have those feelings. I

figure they're because I am so frustrated going from doctor to doctor and

thinking I've finally hit the right dr. - and then they don't follow through. I

feel like my life is in limbo with this thyroid thing and get to a point that I

just want to give up.

But my daughter would click her hair clip, and I would screech! No one

understood that those noises 'hurt' my ears or something. And I often have

that nagging feeling you're talking about. So what does this mean?

really? I still get that way. My hubby says I drive him nuts. Anytime we have to

go out with his work or something, I become such a nervous wreck!!

I went to an embroidery club - first one for me - last saturday. I was so

nervous.

I shouldn't be - I know there is no reason to be, but I can't help it. I just

want to stay home.

i can remember actually training myself then to sit down and try to pinpoint

if there was anything really wrong in my life. I would do that to try to get

rid of the scared and anxious feeling that I had. sometimes i could pinpoint

something that maybe I was worrying or fretting over...but most of the time

there was nothing. so i would try to tell myself to just calm down. it makes

me mad i went thru so many years of that and didn't have too. i don't feel

scared anymore.

Oh my cindi, my social phobia also is really bad, I cant even take my kids to

the park on a saturday because as soon as it gets crowed I cant even focus on

anything other than the people around me, aghh its a very debiliating

condition and I have had it since I was 13 yrs old, thats the first time I

noticed

the uneasy feeling, and at that time I lived in NYC so you can imagine living

in such a large city where there are tons of people and having social phobia it

was not easy, now I live in Florida and I am 30 and still have social phobia

and its at its worst now that I am hypo, aghhhhh

that will get lots better (and probably disappear) once you get on enough

thyroid hormone. it really does. that scared feeling, the social phobia, the

anxiety...all this is from not enough thyroid hormone in your brain. you

probably have had Hashi's all your life...and it's just now getting worse after

your

pregnancies. and you're now having more physical symptoms.

well maybe...but actually we just got sick...and then sicker, and doctors

didn't help us...and so we were forced to start studying about hashimoto's and

thyroid disease, etc...and we ended up smarter than the docs...who are only

taught one thing: if the TSH isn't really really high just tell them

everything

is " normal " and offer an anti-depressant. :)

I'm a nervous wreck when I have to do/go somewhere new... I usually end up

puking. Spent most of my life doing that because I was always afraid.

Talking about being nervous in social situations - I have always been a fairly

confident person but just before this illness came about I started a new job.

Every time I spoke to someone I started blushing and I was very aware of it and

slightly embarrassed. It had never happened before and I didn't know why it

was happening. Then I started feeling nauseous every day at work but I was

fine when I was at home. It was shortly after that that I started feeling

really ill, seems that this social phobia thing was a precursor

me too, even when I am talking to someone I know well. I can be freezing cold

and wearing a sweater when I answer the phone, after a few minutes I am

sweating. I could understand it if it was a confrontational call but this

happens even when I am just chatting to my daughter on the phone.

oh wow... i had that bad...and even now, still don't like to be on the phone

too much. even after i started treatment...i would get on the phone and get

so short of breath i could hardly talk and i think it was just an inner

nervousness about being on the phone. it was weird...because i used to NEVER

have a

problem with the phone. for a while there, i was having to get my husband to

make some calls for me. it's better now. but i still limit using the phone

if possible.

actually, my stepdad did get fresh with me when I was 13 around teh same time

my social phobia started, but he hated me because I didnt allow him to go any

further and I told my mom right away, so he hates me for that and I dont care

but meanwhile I use dto be so scared of him and of course he would always

start argumenst with me and hit me, it was aliving hell, but at least the sexual

abuse was not there, if it was I would have really goone crazy! aghh but i

know everything I have today and everything I am today is because if my

childhood

problems.

i can get you lots of medical abstracts on hypo and psychiatric problems. one

really good article on anxiety and endocrine disorders is this:

http://www.drrichardhall.com/anxiety.htm

read on down to the section " Anxiety Disorders in Patients with Thyroid

Hormone Disturbance " .

I have never puked - felt like it - but never did. I have hoped that this would

get better on the armour. I usually end up running to the bathroom - and as

constipated as I usually am, it takes a lot of nervousness to make that happen!!
