Post Op RNY/March 21, 2003

EDD December 26, 2003

waahhaaaa.....im having a huge pity party. anyone care to join me? i am

serving carmel apple cheesecake and strawberry shakes.

i went to the doc yesterday and he listened to the baby and measured (dont

ask me how) he told me to get off the table and was staring at my chart.

i

didnt know why. he then started talking ultrasound and i said hey, we did

that last time. oh good he goes and reads the report and then says but we

may need to do another one this week (gasp) after he sits there and read

that report, he says oh good. you arent really at 19 weeks but 16!!! the

11 1/2 wk measurement must have been gestational. he goes...im really

sorry

i should have called you then...WELL YAH!!!! he then changed my due date

to

CHRISTMAS DAY!!! i said no way am i having this baby at christmas. he

agreed that they could take the baby the week before but i didnt really

want

to take a baby to christmas that is only a week old....i guess i would

rather have that than have something wrong with the baby. i have been

pouting all night. even shopping didnt help (of course, its not usually

fun

when you take men along anyway : )

thanks for listening. i realize its not really that big of deal but it is

to me. i was so excited to be at 20 weeks next mon it just blew the crap

out of my mentality. 20 weeks is a landmark for me so i guess i will

just

have to wait another month to get that far (sigh)

Well you are not the only one that will have a Christmas baby. I'm actually due

on Jan 4 but because I am scheduling a repeat c-sec my doc likes to do them 10

days early. That makes it 12/26/03. The day after Christmas. I didn't really

want to have this baby so close to Christmas but I did want to have it in Dec so

it don't leave too many days anyway. Just remember this year you will have the

best Christmas present ever!

Dear Mindy,

I was doing what you are doing, but I was also drinking red raspberry tea to

get my cervix more favorable. When I went in to get induced I was 3 cm

dilated and 50 percent effaced. The induction was working, but I ended up

having a

c-section because the baby's cord was wrapped around her neck.

Good luck,

CONGRATULATIONS on baby Logan, I just love the name. I'm glad to hear

things went so well.

Welcome to the world Logan!!

> Hi,

> I just wanted to let everyone know on Thursday, after an ultrasound

revealed low fluids, I was induced at 39 weeks. I went into the hospital at

noon, and was on pitocen, and at 6:12 delivered a 9 pound 10 ounce beautiful

baby boy! He is perfectly healthy and wonderful. The labor went smooth, we

are both home now. His older brother and sister are just amazed by him, as

am I. We named him Logan Jack Stichtenoth. I got pregnant less than 6

months out of surgery, and was extremely worried for the health of this

baby, and Thank God we were able to bring home a prefect little boy. I am

happy to report that I am not able to eat the large quantity of food I was

while pregnant also. So for all of those of you worried about your

appetite, calm down. In less than 48 hours from delivery I am back to my

pre-pregnancy appetite and stomach capacity. Thank you all so much for all

the information. I would have gone insane if I had to go through this

pregnancy without all the information I got from this group! I am off to

snuggle with my new bud!

I just have to say that you most definitely are a very precious person. A

truly remarkable person to have dealt with your situation the way that you

did and especially in your line of work. So many people would have been

bitter or worse blameful. You however truly posses the gift of faith in God

above putting your trust in the why! You are a true inspiration to us all.

I wish I could have been that faithful during my miscarries!

Your in my thoughts and Prayers!

,

I just noticed this *special* coincidence.

On Thursday @ 1458 I assisted delivery of a little baby. She wasn't

my patient, but as I was walking past the nurses station, a middle

aged black woman ran up to me and said, " PLEASE TELL ME IF MY

DAUGHTER HAS DELIVERED HER BABY YET!!! I JUST DROVE 4 HOURS TO GET

HERE FROM AKRON OHIO. PLEASE DONT LET ME BE TOO LATE. "

Since I didn't know anything about the patient, I walked the Mother

back to her daughter's room to see if she was in fact too late.

I knocked and asked her to wait outside the door until I told her to

come in. When I walked in, the patient was legs up in the air, the

Dr, resident and RN were at the foot of the bed, the husband was

behind the door behind the 2 NICU nurses and the stabilet.

The couple has 3 daughter's and didn't want to know what the sex was

of this baby until it was born. She wanted a boy and the Dad wanted

another girl. I didn't know the history besides the unknown gender

issue, just that if Code Pink was present, we must have a baby in

trouble. They said it was ok for the Grandma to come in and they

told me to come in as well to help the patient hold her legs up for

delivery. The baby's head was sitting right there on the perineum

but the Mom's epidural had worn off. She wasn't interested in

delivering at that minute. She wanted more pain meds. About 2

minutes and 2 pushes later, little Olivia was born. The Dr

asked who wanted to cut the cord, and the Grandma stepped up and

said, " ME ME ME ME ME " so she did the cutting.

Just as she cut the cord, the phone rang. Of course, no one answered

it at that time. When the ringing stopped, the NICU nurses were

finishing up their assessment and the Dr was delivering the

placenta, the phone rang again. It was the patients sister on the

line. The Grandma told her how beautiful her new neice was and

said, " OH LORDY LORDY! I GOT TO CUT THE CORD HONEY BEE!!! WHAT AN

AMAZING EXPERIENCE TO HELP DELIVER MY OWN GRANDBABY!!! "

At the time, I thought that was a cute nickname for her other

daughter, " Honey Bee " . I just saw that is your Group Nickname as

well.

Just a small coincidence, but one I wanted to share with you & the

rest of the group.

:)

First, and most importantly...

congratulations on your new baby!!! What a wonderful

time for you and your family!

Next...I did want to comment on the above. Even

though you don't feel like you need to continue to focus

on eating after you have a baby.....if you are a nursing

mom, you need to continue to focus on it as much as

you did when you were pregnant. When pregnant, this

growing thriving creature is taking all of their nutrition

from you...

when they are nursing....it's the exact same, except

they are even bigger. They are still taking all of their

nutrition from you...so you need to continue to eat extra

calories for them, and continue being diligent on your

vitamins...for yourself as well as the baby.

9 pounds 10 ounces..what a wonderful size! You must

have taken such good care of yourself and your baby

for all of those months....congratulations. =)

Sharon,

You said that you cannot eat the pasta, but the sauce stays down. Maybe you

would be able to eat tomato soup with melted cheese.......

Just another suggestion...

Shoshannah,

Hi! My current due date (it keeps changing! LOL) that the doc gave me is

March 16, 2004. My dh's birthday! LOL!! He is so geeked... his mother

recently died and she told him that she was going to curse him with a

child just like him... lol... this was a wake up call! LOL! :~)

Pasta just kills me... It seems like, with carbs being easier to tolerate

right now, that pasta would work, but it doesn't. Sigh. I made a lasagna

the other day, and chewed that pasta up quite well, and it didn't stay

down five minutes. I was able to eat the sauce, though! LOL! At least I

got that! :~) It was tasty! It was nasty coming back up, but... sigh... It

is something I will just have to try again in a few weeks. It smells too

good not to try, and if it smells good, it may just stay down! LOL! :~)

Thanks for your help! :~)

Hi,

I just wanted to let everyone know on Thursday, after an ultrasound revealed

low fluids, I was induced at 39 weeks. I went into the hospital at noon, and

was on pitocen, and at 6:12 delivered a 9 pound 10 ounce beautiful baby boy! He

is perfectly healthy and wonderful. The labor went smooth, we are both home

now. His older brother and sister are just amazed by him, as am I. We named

him Logan Jack Stichtenoth. I got pregnant less than 6 months out of surgery,

and was extremely worried for the health of this baby, and Thank God we were

able to bring home a prefect little boy. I am happy to report that I am not

able to eat the large quantity of food I was while pregnant also. So for all of

those of you worried about your appetite, calm down. In less than 48 hours from

delivery I am back to my pre-pregnancy appetite and stomach capacity. Thank you

all so much for all the information. I would have gone insane if I had to go

through this pregnancy without all the information I got from this group! I am

off to snuggle with my new bud!

Thank you!

Mindy
