Hi a,

I have been told that what we loose is entirely up to us and so is

wether we keep it off or not.I could be wrong but I think the idea is

that after we have lost our weight we have over time trained our eating

habits correctly. As I have about 100lbs to loose (give or take )I really

hope I dont get to 60 and stop.....lol.

Did this info come from a Dr?

Of course! The band is not the SOLUTION - it is only a TOOL to assist our

self control of overeating and help us loose the weight. By eating high

calorie liquids (i.e. ice cream) which will easily flow through the band,

our bodies will store all the excess calories and maintain/regain/raise our

body weight.

No no, I'm not talking about how we diet. I'm talking about the limitations of

the band as a whole. I was also told that with the gastric bypass surgery

there are no limitations and weight loss is not likely to be regained.

Yeah, I get this sometimes. Sometimes with a bit of food, sometimes without,

but it enables me to finish the meal.

Hi everybody,

<<

>>

Dear Debi,

It happens sometimes to me that at the beginning of a meal somethings gets

stuck, and I have to wait a long time or even have to vomit, and then I'm fine

again and can finish my meal without any trouble.

<<

>>

I had asked the question my doctor a long time ago. He said that if they

have to put a tube into the throat (I don't remember the exact name in

English), that would be no problem as the tube is not long enough to touch the

band. Regarding a tube in the stomach, I haven't got a clue. I have no

medic alert bracelet etc., but I think it might be a very good idea.

<<

>>

Dear Ken,

LOL I don't think that this can happen. More seriously, I went to the

hospital lately for an x-ray of my back, and when the guy came back he said:

" Oh, I see that you've had a gastrobanding ! " So it seems that more and

more people know about it.

<<>>

Dear Debie and Jessie,

I didn't know that such problems could occur and that you couldn't sleep

because of it ! Do other Bandsters have that problem ?

<< >>

Dear Helen,

Congratulations on your new job !!! Well done ! Are you still a

teacher, or is it something else ?

Dear Ronke,

LOL Funny that when we realise you're still alive it's when you talk about

.... embalming ! :-)

PS Don't forget the chat tomorrow ! I will post details in a separate

e-mail.

All the best to everybody !

Cheers,

Saliva and mastication will start the digestion process. There is very

little acid produced by the pouch stomach mucosa. The saliva and chewing

process starts there and then when the food falls into the bigger stomach

the real digestion takes place. Thats my story and I am sticking to it.

Spit has enzymes in it that start off the digestion process. Chewing

increases the surface area of the food to allow enzyme penetration. Then

the digestive juices in the stomach, not the pouch because there is little

or no stomach mucosa, finish off the job and a sphincter then allows the

chyme (digested food) to pass through to the small intestines where it is

absorbed by the villi in the small intestine. Then it passes through to

the large intestine where water absorbtion takes place and then the bulky

matter, which always contains peas and corn in whole portions is expelled

through the anus and down into the sewerage system. What happens to it

after that, is on a need to know basis.

Oh yes you have, you're just not looking carefully enough. Every one has

peas and corn in their poo. The same as we all spew up diced carrots after

too much alcohol. One of life's little mysteries. Also in my kids

nappies, I would often find grapes after they had easten sultanas.

Send it off to a lab. I once swallowed a long piece of cotton and believe

Anne,

You'll have more luck expressing before you nurse Roman--especially because you can relieve engorgement feelings and prevent leaks. No problem to express at this point. You will need to freeze the milk. Be sure to chill (refrig) fresh milk before putting it on frozen milk. Shoot for three ounce bottles.

RE: QuestionHi Anne. I'm a H cup so I started out breastfeeding the same way (also called thefootball hold.) That's the only way I could comfortably nurse. It took mealmost 4 months to make the transition comfortably from the football hold tothe traditional/cradle hold. I worked with a LC to make the transition to the cradle hold and she had myholding my son with his head in the crook of my arm. My arms aren't longenough and my boobs are just too big to have his head there. Once I figuredthat out, it became much easier. Now his head rests on my forearm about aninch or two from my wrists.I started out by using a Boppy or the My Breast Friend pillow (depending onwhether I was upstairs or downstairs.) When I first started with thetraditional hold, I only nursed that way once a day. I had a hard time withnipple soreness, too. Are you holding on to your breast with one of yourhands? I had to. That's the only way I could keep it from slipping. Even theslightest amount of slipping can cause major soreness. I was slowly able tostop using my hand as a boob sling!I stopped using a nursing pillow around 5 months because my son was largeenough and my boobs hung low enough that he could lay in my lap and reachcomfortably. Hope this helps!Mom to 3/15/00Visit 's Web Site: http://members.aol.com/Bork____________Hi my name is Anne Searles and I am a SAHM to Roman , born on12/10/00. As I am a J cup I was shown how to BF in the "clutch hold" at thehospital. This has worked really well, but isn't convenient for publicnursing. I saw a LC yesterday and she helped me get set up with thetraditional hold. Now that I am doing this at home, my nipples are gettingSOOOO sore. I've checked Roman's latch on and it's just fine. Could thisbe because of the new position? The LC did have me using a nursing pillowand I'm not currently using one. Would this make such a significantdifference?TIA,AnneGive the Gift of Life Breastfeed!http://www.lactivist.com Give the Gift of Life Breastfeed!http://www.lactivist.com Give the Gift of Life Breastfeed!http://www.lactivist.com

Anne,

Bm is created for one day based on the previous days demand. When you are really full in the morning, baby gets lots of foremilk as he "empties" the build up, and after that he gets the hindmilk which is richer in fat content. If you pump off the accumulated milk, you will get more for your freezer supply, your son will get the richer hindmilk sooner, and when he gets the bottles down the road, he will digest them rapidly so that you can nurse him sooner after the missed feedings, which will keep you more comfortable. You might also be able to avoid bringing your pump along to the convention--or you can bring it along and pump after missed feeding to ;lessen how much you need to bring along frozen.
