We do something like this on another list I am on and we have had to

start separating the names so that each of us send to people that are

in the same country as we are. It keeps the postage a bit more

reasonable. I think there are multiple people in most of the

countries represented on this list (possible exception of Israel...but

we still love you Vered). If you decide to institute a spending limit

separating the countries might be more equitable, too. Whatever the

group decides is fine with me, but I thought I'd mention it.

Just be glad it was Becca that got it, and remember everyone--SHE ASKED FOR

IT, in fact, she begged for it and taunted me to the point where I had no

option but to give in. The amazing thing is, it went through the mail in a

plain package with no return address (I didn't want it coming back, LOL) at

the same time those anthrax letters were probably going through the mail.

Can you imagine what would happen if I sent that now? LOL

Count me in!! As Sue said...it depends on the price range since money

is a bit tight here...but I'm sure I can manage! I'd love to join in

I've done a number of holiday exchanges, and they can be lots of fun.

A couple of suggestions you might want to consider.

1. A set and low price limit is best - no more than $20 is common,

$10-15 is not unusual - plus Priority Mail postage.

2. A " scavenger hunt " style exchange is fun, and gives everyone lots

of room for creative thinking. It also helps allow folks with more

time than money to put together a cool package without a lot of cash,

and folks with money but no time to buy the items on the list.

Some example items from exchanges on a quilting list :

Something homemade.

Something with caffeine.

Something red.

A thimble.

A fat quarter of your favorite fabric

Something " snowy " .

For this list, the list might include some things like these

(examples of items to send in parenthesis)

Something spicy. (specialty spice or flavoring, a hot pad made from

chili pepper fabric, a little book of chili recipes)

Something cheery.( a Christmas ornament, a smiley face button)

A secret recipe. ( a favorite LC recipe on a pretty card, an

inspirational saying on a bookmark)

3. A questionnaire for each participant, whose answers are forwarded

to the person who get the name, to help with selecting the contents

of the package.
