Pam,

Same here with the snow but Henry isn't quite the crazy person and

we did it with a snowblower and a shovel.

I am so sorry to hear about your mother. Boy, we share allot of the

same experiences being so close in age. I am currently taking care of

my 80 year old mother-in-law. She lives by herself near Henry's

sister but I am the one who takes her for all appointments and take

care of her medications. I go and take her out shopping once a week

too.

My mother passed away 5 years ago. She was 79 and had allot of what

they called mini strokes. Luckily, there are 4 of us girls and we all

live close. It was hard even when we were splitting time between

ourselves. I can understand what your experiencing. The last 10 yrs

of her life we split taking care of her. It's an emotional thing when

the child becomes the caregiver to their caregiver. If I lived closer

I'd come over for some of that irish bread and a good hot cup of tea.

Know that you and your mother will be in my prayers.

Sending hugs on angel wings.

>

> WEll, we are in the midst of a HUGE storm and because I live with a

crazy person, we had to shovel the 11 inches of snow, JUST IN CASE IT

FREEZES OVER NIGHT. Now, I hear the weather man say it will turn to

rain and wash it away, but JUST IN CASE.....

> so, I am awake because now I am pumped from shoveling and making 6

loaves of Irish Bread (it is yummy, if I do say so myself) and going

through mail. Not to take this on a downer, but my mother had a mild

stroke on Sat. and my sisters and I have been dealing with " the

plan " . In the middle of this HUGE storm, the hospital decided that

because she is not acute (despite being on a catheter for a UTI) they

wanted her transferred to rehab!! It is a long and not-so-glorious

story, but I have been on the phone, so my ability to go to sleep

right now is severely compromised.

,

It is indeed, who we are now. 8 years ago my mother was diagnosed with head and

neck cancer (stage 4) and is CURED. It was rough treatment, but she came

through it. I think I never really expected that she would ever get sick

again!!

This was somewhat unexpected yet, we (my twin sister, my little sister, and

younger brother) have noticed some changes over the last year. Now, we know she

has had several " mini strokes " on the right side and this one was on the left.

So....while everything moves and she can talk, walk, etc., she is having some

word recall ( and is aware of it ) and memory issues. So...the Irish bread is

ready and the tea could be brewing anytime!

thank you and the lovely " hugs on angel's wings " -very sweet.

Hey to all you trivia enthusiasts - I am really enjoying your off topic thread.

The nieces would be April, May and June, courtesy of my husband (he had a

stroke, as well - can't remember ten minutes ago but he's a whiz on trivia!).

Happy St. 's Day to all -

Kay

YUKA,

yes!!!!! I loved " The Secret Life of Bees " , too!! There are very few people in

the world who know the niece's names. Most know Huey, Dewey and Louie, who, by

the way, married April, May and June.

Okay, I think this is going to be a tough one. This is from one of the

really old Popeye cartoons. Olive was singing " Who's that knocking at

my door? Who's that knocking at my door? " Okay here's the hard part.

What did the guy knocking sing back?

Hehe

P.S. yes, I failed the April, May and June one. Forty lashes with the

Sea Hags whip for me........

Something like this: Fair maid, 'tis me, I'm home from the sea...

this guess is courtesy of Curt.

:-)
