Contact tdh about the site then the atty generals office will get involved. If

the people that run the site are certified they won't be for long. A blacklist

may be considerd libel and slander to a group of people who in turn can sue the

domain owner and the service provider:

While I am NOT the person who set this up, I can confirm that rears have

fallen off laughing. The odd thing is it took two years for this to

surface. It was widely distributed in the Houston area as a HR parody

of " informal reference checks " such as what was discussed in this forum

a few weeks ago. It has actually been used as a spoof in several

presentations across Texas in the last two years, most recently at the

Texas College of Emergency Physicians.

All kidding aside, OCS and Optiquest are outstanding companies that do

provide IT service to MCHD. The website had no official tie to MCHD

nor did it have any real functionality.

Epley was the first mythbuster almost 18 months ago.

Damn it, , and here I was ready to sue someone, with dreams of this being

THE case that'd lead to a multi-million dollar judgement and my retirement to a

ranch in the Hill Country.

Instead of retirement to a ranch in the Hill Country, you could

retire to the Hill RV park in Hillsboro :-)

It looked very legit, and given some administrators, I would not have

been surprised to see such a site.

While it does not provide for any real functionality and is

technically harmless why does such a beast exsist, its long been

every medics concern that such a list exsist and by merely implying

that such a doctrine exsist continues fears that its real. Why

would somebody want to register a domain name then go sofar as to

creat even one line of code to support the domain name?

I would argue that a web site that sugest that you have been added

to a lists for trying to login three time has managed to be just as

bad as if a true list did exsist.

,

Perhaps you could use your influence with one of your vendors to

remove the site from there servers.

Only problem was that some people were hurt by being told that they were on

the list. Practical jokes have the possibility of doing harm. It would have

been one thing if when you " registered " you got the disclaimer, which was

just added today. But some were led to believe that they had been blacklisted,

and one quit EMS because of it. Not very funny.

This is a hoax. If you scroll to the bottom, it reads...

" *DISCLAIMER*

There is NO database or tracking associated with the site.

Under NO circumstances would it be used

to prevent someone from gaining employment.

This website is intended for *entertainment purposes only*.

NOT associated or endorsed by TX Department of State Health. "

If you look at the source of the page, the login form isn't connected to

any sort of database. It is configured to give you a password error the

first and second time, no matter what. The third time, it says you are

" locked out " , and the fourth, it says... " Go away - You are bothering

us.Also, you have now been added to the blacklist that you can't get into. "

So, it really is a " hoax " / " joke " , and there is no database..although i

don't really find the humor in it.

wow..... there are some seriously paranoid people out there.

And sue-happy at that. Shame on all of you for threatening suits.

Those willing to launch a lawsuit at the drop of a hat is exactly

what has made our jobs so hard. Don't propagate that mindset.

Oh, and did half of you miss the countless posts that it is a

hoax??? It is funny, people.... laugh, I sure did. And if you don't

see the humor in it, perhaps you should re-evaluate how you

have been treating the around you and under you.

I dont think that anyone was really " sue happy " . If such a list did

exist, it has the possibility of impacting ones ability to seek and

secure employment, or maintain employment, which could affect their

ability to make an income for them and their family, which is illegal.

If your income and ability to hold employment was affected, I am sure

you would be thinking lawsuit too. The pocketbook and a person's

reputation are not things to interfere with.

If they quit over this they were looking for a reason

to quit. The very first time I went to the site I knew

it was a hoax. Remember some previous sites where you

were supposed to stare at the screen and you would see

a ghost but instead of a ghost there would be a scary

figure pop up on the screen along with a loud noise.

There was another one that had a close button you were

supposed to click on but it would move away from your

pointer. I am suprised at the conclusions reached by

many before they did any research on the site. Maybe

some of them have a closet full of skeletons.
