Guest guest
, Good luck house hunting! Interest rates are low now so that helps. Take your time when you are looking. Don't let an agent or builder's rep talk you into buying something you are not sure of. I think it's better to miss a good deal than get a bad one. My wife bought a house with her sister in 1989 at the peak of the real estate boom here (maybe there too). House prices here dropped like a rock in 1989 and have not recovered to those peak levels even now. To make things worse, she bought into a bad area. When we bought our house, the builder's rep wanted to draw up the contract when I was not ready to do it. I must have given her a funny look because she said " I don't mean to rush you but there is another family interested in the property " . I thought she was full of crap and she wanted to rush the deal. My wife was worried cause this builder only had one lot on the street we wanted. I told my wife the builder's rep was bluffing and there was no other family (if there was, why would the builder not have sold the house to them?). We ended up signing the deal about a month later. As things turned out, we met a man a street over one day (he caught us peeping into his house as it was being built). My wife was explaining he had the same model as us. They were having a nice conversation. The man asked where our house was and my wife told him. " oh, yea " the man says, " I wanted to buy that house but did not want to pay the lot premium! " There was a premium on the lot cause it was a better street. I did not want to pay extra for the lot either but it was a better street and I figured it was a good investment in the long run. The moral of this story is - the builder's rep was NOT bluffing and it really is hard to tell what is true and what is not during these transactions! > > , > > I will take you up on that. We are definitely tired > of renting! Hopefully, we can be in a situation to > start looking in about 6-8 months.... > > > > > __________________________________________________ >

Guest guest
ville eh?? Guess you will miss the Steelers though. Actually, Pittsburgh is a very nice city. I never realized it til my trip there for GK last year. I stayed with my uncle in Glenshaw. My cousin took me down to UPMC. She went to Pitt many years ago (had some classes with Dan Marino). She knew all the short routes. Very scenic and mountainous. The city must be tough on a car's brakes and transmission. Lots of trees and woods around their house - very nice. How is winter driving in Pitt with all the hills? You won't have to worry about that in Florida. No winter and no hills. I drove the perimeter of Florida once. So flat the driving was a breeze. How about the reflectors on the highways in Florida? You can drive while you are sleeping down there. Enjoy the new home and the pool too! Re: Bad New! > Gee , I jsut moved into this house in June. Guest guest
I mis driving in the snow . Wasn't bad, they use a mixture of cinders and salt on the road whien it gets slick. Since there is car inspections there in PA your brakes get checked yearly. Mike Re: Bad New! > > > > Gee , I jsut moved into this house in June.
