I have eaten Dannon Light non-fat flavored yogurt from the first day home

from the hospital. It is sweetened with real sweeteners. I havn't had any

problem with it. In fact, it's yummy. I also get Jello pudding mixes in

the grocery - the artifically sweetened non-fat kind, mix it up with skim

milk. It's so good I can't believe it. It also gives you a satisfied

feeling..I've had problems with hunger.

I haven't had any problem with eggs so far. In fact, I've had a pretty

smooth ride--nothing I've eaten so far has disagreed with me, unless I just

ate too much of it. I even had a couple of pieces of sushi yesterday and

everything was okay.

Page 33 of the manual says specifically:

" Gatorade is also a reasonable choice because it is a light drink and does

contain some sodium and potassium. "

Gatorade is not a no no

As a matter of fact it is listed as a recommendation b/c of the potassium

content. It is there...I promise! LOL

Plus, Dr R said himself to stop the water and drink gatorade.

I thought in the diet recommendations that gatorade was a no-no post-op

because of the sugar --- do they have a sugar free type?

I can't find my manual right now (my sis prolly has it) but I have taken

notes from the manual and in the diet recommendations where it shows what

you can eat/drink and what to avoid, I have notes specifically that states:

sugar softdrinks, sugared drink mixes/lemonade, Kool-Aid, Gatorade, sweet

tea, Snapple and similar drinks are not recommended. That was why I was

confused. :-) I just wanted to make sure that it was okay.

Oh good, on the post op list recommendations it listed Gatorade as not being

recommended because of the sugar, but I'd seen most of you drinking it. :-)

Momentary confusion. I just didn't know if they made a sugar free version

or not or if you could just drink it regular. Do you have to water it down?

Hi There!

No you do not need to water it down. As a matter of fact I would not

recommend it. I drink ONLY gatorade and I do wonderfully. I have never

dumped ONCE from this drink. If I need a change in pace, I will drink

crystal lite, but only once in a while.

<< gatorade was a no-no post-op

We can dilute it with water and it's fine. The thing that saves Gatorade

from giving us sugar problems is that it also has potassium and electrolytes

in it. The body needs that combination. Dr. R can tell you all about the

guy who invented it; the inventor scraped sweat off of athletes to see what

their bodies lost as he concocted the mixture for Gatorade. It's a balanced

fluid replacement for our bodies that helps us stay hydrated without the

usual sugar response of dumping syndrome. Dee in MI.

PAige! How ya doin' there, woman? I'm still using nonfat Dannon Light

yogurt and it's just fine for me. I usually manage about one third cup at a

time...sometimes a few spoons less. A container can last me three to four

meals. Gatorade and I are good buddies...but I sip it throughout the day, I

don't " chug " it. If I feel a little woozy after drinking it, I dilute it in

water. Puddings don't sit well with me, but I've heard others say they

really like the nonsugar Jello puddings. Most of the real fruit juices are

fine; that's 100% juice, no sugar added. Be sure and try apricot nector and

pineaple juice (nonsweetened) because they're good sources of (darn! another

brain fart...I don't remember what I was going to say...) Dee in MI.

Hey you!,

I am just concerned due to so many sugar free things having nutrasweet and I

cannot eat or drink it. I add saccarine to my tea now I am off the sugar in

my tea and I am fine I used to drink all diet drinks til they switched

everything to nutrasweet and I ended up going back to regular pop. I sure

wish I could find pop with saccarine in it! :) Some of the gals are talking

about 29 gram of sugar and being able to tolerate it so I guess I will have

to see. I think 9/10's of my eating is I like textures. I like pudding s and

creamy textures and crunchy textures( I have found Wasa bread fulfills

that;) I just know it is less the taste and more the texture in my mouth

that I like. Is that totally nutty or what ! LOL Paige
