Hi

I had my surgery on Dec 13 and have lost 47 pounds. I had the roux n y

surgery which is a little different but you can only eat about 2 oz. Most of

the time I eat about 2-3 tblsp per meal> I take Flintstoe chewable complete

vitamins 2/day. It has reduced my blood sugar and I am feeling much better

and more energetic than before. You learn real fast not to over eat because

it will come back up or you will be extremely uncomfortable. Dee inMissouri

le,

I am so sorry with the loss of your son. Words

cannot express my sympathy towards you and your

family. I am 'running' with you to Doctor Rutledge's

because I want to be around for my child's (who just

turned 11) present and future. I'm hoping to get

approval from BCBS soon so I can aim for the MGB in

March.

Love and prayers,

le,

You know, I might agree with you if I had not been an athlete in school and

kept a majority of my weight off when I quit the team. I guess too it is

difficult when you have a sister the size of a pipe cleaner!LOL No, I am

glad that I tried all these years, if I had not I am not sure I would've

taken this route now! I think if I had my family constantly after me to eat

less, or if I did not know for a fact that many of us have a warped sense of

servings and what is good and what is not. For five years I have been on a

mostly meat and veggies diet. I eat HUGE salads and if I want seconds I go

for .....................BROCOLLI!!!!!!NUMMERS! So I guess what I am saying

is that part of it IS me for falling for the number of stupid diets out

there that totally messed up my metabolism, but in the long run, when I

watch my sister a 1/2 ib of chocolate and remain a pipe stem, I am MORE apt

to think perhaps the genes are misbehaving ! :) Just my .02 :) PAige

JJ,

I am with you on this issue. I am 34 (next week whohoo!) and I KNOW what is

good for the bod. I feel crappy if I workd the pyramid and my blood sugar

wobbles around! If I stick with the veggies and meat I feel so much better!

If go with too many carbs especially wheat products, my lungs get congested

and I feel sluggish. Figured this out on the " low fat, eat pasta it is good

for you diet " I thought I was gonna sleep the rest of my life!!! And the

brain felt as if it were floating around in half jelled jello. Before this,

the only " diet " I had tried was the infamous cabbage soup diet! Otherwise I

could almost always increase my activity and my weight would simply fall

off. Well with the whole pasta and no fat thing, I think I fell victim to

the dreaded insulin rresistance which i was only diagnosed with last fall.

This involves the PCOS and yes, the hormones will keep you from losing

weight! Somehow the elevated testoterone levels cause women to keep weight

and gain easily. I have not quite figured that out yet:) But other than

eating large amounts(my sister) of sweets my sis and I kind of eat the same

stuff. Protein shakes with fruit or oatmeal(with protein powder) in the

morn, and pretty regular eating the rest of the day. My frustration came to

a peak a year ago when I was working out 3-4 days a week 1 1/2 hours a day

and 3 times a week for a 1/2 hour with a trainer to relearn correct lifting

after my back surgery.I kept a food diary and just to be, I needed 1800 at

my weight. With the workouts I was doing I sould have been eating about 2200

calories. Did I firm up?! YES MAM! Did I lose weight ??!! NOPE! not a pound!

6 months! yes I know muscle weighs more but still it also burns fat more

effeciently! ACK! My cousin who is a Dr suggested that I try surgery, she

felt it was genetic. So here I is! :) Paige

Paige,

It is so nice to hear feedback!

I have really gotten back into protein supplements since I weaned the baby.

I cannot believe how much better I am feeling! Funny, I stopped the protein

supplements due to all of the press against protein years ago -- now its back

in style again. Thankfully, now there are so many more protein choices than

when I was an athlete as a kid.

I can relate to the work out syndrome, since September, I increased work outs

(but current have a sprained knee from playing horsey) so I am strong as an

ox -- Have not lost a pound ... of couse there are those last meals which I

think I have finally had the last one....

JJ,

I am finding all kinds of " fun " stuff! Like in Europe they use liquid or

spray in mouth vitamins??!!??!! The web site www.vita4life has a liquid

protein with no sugar and 30 MG of protein!! I just ordered the tablets you

add to water and they add flavor(essence) but no sugar! I'll let you know on

those! I am an OX too! The one thing I need to do is get my aerobic taken

care of this month. I want 1 1/2

monthes to get in tip top shape! My problem now is that I carry around so

much water weight it is uncomfortable to walk a lot in the cold :(

I will figure it out! LOL Good Luck! Paige

Paige

<< The web site www.vita4life has a liquid

PAige and JJ: I've used this, it tastes just fine...very thick when made in

the blender as directed. No aftertaste. Their protein shakes/drinks also

can be blended in the morning and taken to work in a cooler; they do not " go

bad " upon standing. I mix up a " batch " in the mornings now and sip on it

throughout the day. I've ordered the entrees which require NO refrigeration

or freezing while you store them prior to heating in the microwave. I'll use

them for some of my work lunches. I'll report back on those. I got the nine

entree introductory package. (www.vita4life.net) They also have a protein

powder without lactose and it can be used as a pudding; chocolate or vanilla

are the flavors. It isn't as rich-tasting as the Jello brand. (So I add a

drop of whatever flavoring I hanker for to it...mint, cherry, raspberry...you

know!) In March, they'll have a two-ounce packet of concentrated liquid

protein which can be easily spoon stirred with water or juice. I think that

it's honey-flavored so that it can be added to just about any liquid...even

another protein shake drink for additional protein. That interests me

greatly; where I work, it isn't possible to carry ice cubes and mixing cups

or hand blenders for protein shakes. Not employed by vita4life...just a

satisfied customer. Dee in MI.

Dee,

Great! keep me posted. One of things I am running in to, is how to get my

protein in between work, school, and baby. I have been using the Met RX

super protein for an " on the go " protein but it will sure be nice to have

some more alternatives.

Thanks,

JJ

<< Funny both the dot com and dot net work. >>

dot.com will work for a short while. Vita4Life is switching the site over

to only dot.NET in a few weeks. All the new stuff will be on dot.NET after

that. Might as well change the bookmark now :) Dee in MI.
