Guest guest
Yes, it does say in the book that exceeding two weeks on phase 1 is not recommended. ann < > Chuck, > > It sounds like it worked for her! Guest guest
You are right, Chuck. I am here to learn how to get this right, as are all the new people. If people come on here giving out misinformation, it will only mess other people up. ann > , and all > > Please, I am not jumping down anyone's throat. > > The site we are on is called " South Beach Diet - Getting It Right. " To me this means that we should be doing things " by the book " and trying to encourage people to do the same thing, giving them advice when they stray from the program. This is support. I've certainly given many on here a good old " atta boy " when they've deserved it. > > However, when it appears that someone is doing the plan incorrectly, shouldn't we comment in that regard rather than just taking the attitude " oh well, I must not say anything for fear that they will take offence. " To me, that's not support. > > Again, not to belabor the point, didn't you state " There is not a place that says you cannot stay on phase one that long. " to which I responded with a quote from the book " Which is why we strongly urge all the people we counsel to switch to Phase 2 after the second week, no matter how tempting it is to remain on Phase 1. " > > I'm just trying to " get it right " by not misleading people. We're not doing anyone any favors by " bending the rules of the plan " just because they choose not to follow them. Is there room for some flexibility? Certainly. In my opinion, and in the doctor's, going four weeks is outside of that flexibility. If Dr. Agatstan has changed this position since the book was written, then so be it. > > Chuck
Guest guest
Thank you very much. I wish I would have known that it didn't make any difference if I was on phase 1 or phase 2 after the first two weeks. Oh well. It helped me more with cravings so I cut some other things out that I was doing. The first week and a half I was eating popcorn for snack and I cut that out and went to nuts intead. So it's helped a lot. I did lose 2 more pounds so I'm very happy about that. I'm now at 167! So I'm pretty thrilled. If I didn't lose any weight for the next 2 weeks then I was just going to quit and go on another diet but I'm sure glad I lost the weight! > Your weightloss will slow down to 1-2 pounds a week or so regardless what phase you are on. That is frustrating, but it is the " healthy " way to lose. Also as you get closer to goal it will take longer. > > You will not lose faster staying on phase one, and your body needs the nutrition of phase two foods. Add them in slowly. They could make you gain until your body gets used to them. > > Remember that even at a pound a week, you will be at goal this time next year, which is better than the alternative. Just don't give up. You are doing well, even with the pound this week. Carol > Hello Everyone I'm New! > > > Your w > Hi everyone. My name is . Guest guest
In the book Dr. A said that you could stay on phase 1 for longer than 2 weeks but there was a bigger chance of cheating and falling off the wagon because of boredom. I haven't been bored yet with the food so I went through it again. Plus I was having mad cravings still and doing it again really helped. If the book never said I could stay on it longer I never would have. > Why on earth would you stay on phase one for four weeks? You are supposed to > only stay there for two. Guest guest
That's one thing I'm looking forward to is the bread. Yesterday when I had milk and cereal I was so happy. It was the best tasting thing ever. My mother in law stayed on phase 1 for 3 weeks and she wasn't having any problems so that and with the book saying it was okay I decided to try it out and it really helped with my cravings. I don't like any kind of rice but bread that's what I love. > Chuck, > Well the book does say you can stay on longer if you want. Guest guest
That's what I figured happened plus I lost a lot of weight in such a short period of time too. It did help me with the cravings though so I'm very happy about that so now I don't cheat with the little things anymore like popcorn. I just eat nuts. I do have an atkins bar though and i have done that since day 1 since i don't like the desserts but now I don't have to do that because the desserts in phase 2 are so good so far. First day on phase 2 I lost 2 pounds so now I'm down to 167 that's 23 pounds in 29 days. I'm thrilled about that. This diet is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I'm glad I found this group. > Hi ; > > Welcome to our group! We're a great group of people who share, ask questions, and we're very intelligent too. A month on P1 is not recommended at all, unless you have a large amount to lose. Dr. A suggests 3 weeks, tops. The reason you probably stopped losing last week is because you're not getting enough calories and your body is protecting itself from starving. I'm no expert by any means, just speaking from personal experience and the stories of others. > > I hope you'll enjoy your stay here! > > Donna > List Moderator > > Hi everyone. My name is . Guest guest
I have definitely given up the bars for phase 2 because the desserts are so wonderful so I'm just eating the 20 nuts a day if I need to. I don't want to ever see phase 1 again since I was on it for a month lol. Every time I get frustrated I give it a couple days and I also lose more weight. I have lost 2 more pounds on the first day of phase 2. I'm not 167 and 5 inches off my waist. That's 23 pounds. I'm very happy with that! I almost gave up many times but since my mom is on it it makes it easier for me not to give up. She has sleep apnia (spelling?) and I know I cannot quit because it's genetic since her mother had it and my chances are getting it are slim if I lose weight and keep it off. I have 42 pounds to go.
Let's hope I get there! > > > Hi everyone. My name is . I'm 24 years old > > and I've > > > been on the diet since 3/25/05. I have lost 21 > > pounds and 4 > > > inches off my waist. Guest guest
I had a lot of weight to lose plus most of it was water weight because I was eating horrible before this diet. I was eating fast food AT LEAST once a day and in between that I was snacking on junk. I know my results aren't typical. I had and still do have a lot of weight to lose which might be why you haven't lost as much because your goal weight isn't too far away. That's what I keep reading on the internet and hearing in groups. I have lost another 2 pounds and 5 inches total off my waist. I love to lose weight fast I get frustrated if I don't. I know it took me a long time to put on the weight I just have to be patient. Thank you for all the encouragement. Your post actually made me more confident. Thank you. I need that. > > > > Hi everyone. My name is . I'm 24 years old and I've been on the > > diet since 3/25/05. Guest guest
Definitely stayed on it too long. I don't recommend that to anyone. Maximum 2 1/2 weeks I say lol. > I think you missed that she has been on phase one for four weeks and lost an > average 5-1/4 pounds per week. Guest guest
The reason I was on longer was because I was still having cravings and I wanted to lose more weight. I didn't lose as much weight the second time around. Only 3 pounds. I lost 18 pounds the first 2 weeks. But I no longer have cravings. I definitely don't recommend it to anyone. > Chuck > > Dr.A says in one of the books if you have a large amount of weight to lose you can stay in phase one for up to four weeks. No longer though. I thought about it when I started but then I lost 16lbs in phase one and felt I didn't need the extra 2 weeks > > Dawmm > > > Dawnn/Sunryse/Wings > May the spirits of Bears and Tigers walk by your side > May the God and Godess protect you and keep you safe from harm > The wings of dolphins are surely strange but I will always have mine > > > > > > > > > > > > __________________________________________________ >
