We started our six month old daughter sleeping with us, but found that by

the time she was four months old she wanted her own bed. I got lots of

sleep with her in bed at first, but now we do it her way and I get more

sleep this way too!! I miss having her with me.

I *ache* to cosleep with ! We have a water bed and were told by

many that its' not safe for her (being so mushy that she'd sink in). I

looked into buying a new bed so that we could cosleep but that idea was

out of our price range right now. Perhaps with the next I can get a

replacement bed!

I can't imagine anything more wonderful than falling asleep next to

your baby and waking up the same way!

We have gone through phases of cosleeping and phases that we don't. My dd

slept with us until just past 6 years old and actually asked last night if

she could sleep with us. (not much room in a queen for an 8 1/2 yo LOL)

So we layed together in my bed and then she went to her bed. Zaid slept

with us at first but he doesn't sleep well at all if anyone touches him. I

moved him to his own sidecar bed when he was just a few months old. He has

always been allowed in my bed whenever he needs to be, but it is rare. When

he was just over two we moved him into his sister's room. We pushed

together two twin beds and that is where they both sleep. My dd feels safer

with someone in the room with her and Zaid sleeps fine in there. We live in

a very small apartment so they really aren't too far from me at night. I

don't sleep well unless I know they are okay so if they were much farther

away I would never get any sleep. I would have loved for Zaid to sleep with

me much longer but he just didn't sleep well like that. When we have

another baby, eventually, we will cosleep again. :)

First off, I'm new here. My name is and I am the mother of 2/12

month old Seraphina, 5 1/2 year old Shayde, and 8 year old Storm. I am 27

and have been a SAHM for a long time now.

Anyway, I co sleep with my baby and I co slept with both my other two

children untill they were two. I have a beautiful cradle that has barely

been used except for mommy and daddy alone time. LOL I got rid of my crib

after my oldest daughter turned two because no one ever slept in it. I

don't think I'll be buying one this time, I'll just wait till Seraphina

turns 2 and buy her a twin bed. My ped is a little pushy about putting the

baby in her own bed, but I really don't care what she thinks. It worked

fine with the other two and is working fine now. I just couldn't sleep

without knowing my baby was safely sleeping next to me. I don't think I am

putting my baby at risk of anything because I have her next to me with my

arm around her. No one is going to roll over on her or my arm would get it

first. Plus I don't sleep that soundly because she nurses several times

during the night. If she didn't sleep with me, I would never get any sleep.

Co sleeping is kind of a debate in my family. I feel that if you are

comfortable with the baby in your bed then that is what you should do.

However, if you know you are a sound sleeper and are uncomfortable with the

baby in your bed then by all means but her/him in a cradle or crib.

Peace and Love,

(dreamyone)

Is your bed a free flow mattress? That's the biggest concern... that the

baby could roll into the padding and suffocate, or roll against/under

mom/dad and suffocate.

If buying a new standard bed is too costly, have you looked into waterbed

mattresses that have reduced flow or no-flow? They're much less than a

whole new bed. You really only need to buy a mattress that is firm enough

to allow your baby from rolling where she shouldn't be. I've slept with my

babies in a waterbed... though it wasn't mine (visiting relatives), and it

wasn't easy!!

We sleep with our about to be one year old and most night our 2 1/2 year old

comes crawling in in the wee hours of the morning. It works well for us and

the only times I miss out on a full nights sleep are when one of the girls

are sick or teething. I love having the girls close and my husband likes it

too since he is away for much of the day.
