Gosh Topper, I wish I had read your e-mail first. I am happy to know how

T4 works and why we need to go to the lab before we take our meds. I will

make sure that is done from now on. Thanks, that certainly answers all my

questions...Clara

Taking the meds right after the blood draw will still keep your levels up..

Carol, I feel the same way you do about taking the meds before going tothe lab. But I wonder if just one day of not taking the meds would makethat much difference. I am anxious to hear what the others have to say about this. I dohope some of you will give Carol and me some answers to these twoquestions.Love to all, Clara

Hi Carol,

Congratulations on your weight loss! Are you feeling

better too?

I'm a little surprised you are already up to 4.5

grains in only 3 months! How long have you been on

this dose? It takes a long time to feel the full

effects of a given dose, especially up that high. You

may find that once it fully kicks in, you do need to

decrease it.

And I believe that once certain nutritional

deficiencies are corrected, the amount of supplemental

thyroid hormone needed can possibly decrease ...

because the body is better able to utilize it and

convert, etc ... Also, the body needs more nutrients

when on thyroid hormone, because it uses them up

faster with an increased metabolism -- a multivitamin

and multi-mineral and some other basic supplements

help it all work better (getting comprehensive tests

to see what is specifically deficient or what toxins

you have is always great but not always possible, I

know)!

You'll have to observe and see if you get symptoms of

overstimulation. I suggest taking your basal pulse and

temps to compare with your subjective experience of

your symptoms ... because sometimes it can be very

confusing!

Subject: Re: Questions

I have two questions:

I am up to 4.5 grains since starting in July with

Armour. I think this

is my optimal dose, since I tried 5, and got very

shaky, etc. I have

lost 18 lbs since then also. My first question is, I

had a very low

iron count in Jan. I have been taking an iron

supplement since then. I

have read that when your iron is low, the T4 does not

get used like it

should. When your iron, gets back to a normal range,

is it then

possible that you need less Armour, since its is then

being ulitized better?

Second question:

I keep reading not to take your meds before a blood

draw, that it will

give you a false reading.

But is it not better to know how your body is actually

doing on the

dosage you are taking. If I didn't take my Armour

before my draw, would

my results be inaccurate. I would think that if I was

on 4.5 grains,

and did my blood draw with meds, it would give me a

better idea, if I

needed more T4 or T3, or less.

Thanks in advance

Carol

  • 2 weeks later...

I was wondering...

it seemed like the last few days my energy levels were up, my throat

wasn't feeling as " tight " (i'm one of the people who can't really stand

to have anything around my neck so when my thyroid started swelling up

i felt like i was choking from something too tight around my neck alot)

and i wasn't aching nearly as bad.

this evening i started getting really tired and when i went to get up

after sitting for a bit i could barely move. is there anything

specific that seems to make these symptoms flare up or go away? I

woudl love to know if there is something i can do taht will help

control it.

thanx

Rhonda
