Hi Guys,

I understand the not remembering thing as well. I can be driving down the road

and forget where it is that i am going. I drive back home and Joe (hubby) will

say your back from the mall already. I feel like the BIG JERK saying " well I

forgot where I was going " But Joe understands what is going on. He put one of

those note pads that stick to the window (the kind sales man use) so now when I

get in the car I just write down where I am going so I don't for get anymore.

My memory is another reason that I like these pain patches. You keep them on

for 3 days and then change them. (they are about to come off after 3 days

anyhow) Now I don't have to worry about taking too much pain meds.

Sorry to hear about your doc experience...Mine isn't much better these

made a chart and listed each med. Made columns for the hours of the day.

When I took my meds I checked if off.

Now I have a pill sorter. One for each day. I take my meds at:

8 am, 2 pm, 8pm & 2 am. It is really important to keep the meds

in your system. If you don't, they won't do you any good.

My husband is really supportive and takes care of me. It took awhile

to get my parents to understand though. If I had to choose between having

support or having a doctor I would choose the support. But it sure would be

nice to find a doctor that knows what they're doing...

LOL. Nice to know I'm not getting dementia, just part of my FM. For our

family my memory problems are a hassle because I used to be the " walking

Day-timer© " who knew where everything was, where everyone was supposed to

be and when, and what was coming up. Now I do the " what did I come up here

for? " at least once a day. The other day I started to vacuum and I could

not for the life of me remember where the stupid switch was. No, it hadn't

been THAT long! LOL. Eventually I calmed myself down and my brain

unfogged, but that really was scary.

I live just outside of Sacramento are you close?

I had to take my husband in with me to the Dr. and literally tell him off

before he took me seriously. My husband even warned him not to piss me off.

Now he takes me seriously, in fact when he got my x-rays back he said I

would be a prime candidate for spinal replacement surgery. While I don't

believe he's used to dealing with my type of illness he doesn't give me

flack over prescribing pain meds and such any more. The last time I went in

he had a resident Dr. there who was very good. I'm hopeful that things will

go much smoother for me now.

My biggest problem is the darned receptionist. The Dr's office is normally

very busy and I end up waiting an hour or two before getting to finally see

him. I've told the woman repeatedly this is unacceptable, I just can't do

it. My last visit...I had asked for the very first appointment of the day,

so she scheduled me for 9:15 am. I thought that was strange but said

nothing. Again I ended up waiting over an hour to see him. So when I made

my next appointment once again I asked for the very first appointment, again

I get 9:15. LOL I said look lady...I don't care how long I have to wait to

get in, I want you VERY FIRST appointment of day. I can't be waiting an

hour to see him. Finally, she said, well I won't be able to fit you in

until the 22nd. geeeeez I told her, I don't care how far in advance you

have to make it. I think the woman is dense.

I found out later on........she's the dr's MOTHER. I could go on and on but

I'll spare you the details. It's just so frustrating.

I had an 8:00 am appointment with my dermatologist one time. It was the

very first appointment, and I still got in 20 minutes late. This guy

*always* runs at least an hour to 2 hours late. I was already an hour

and a half late (different appointment) and I heard the receptionist

tell someone " well, if it's that bad, you had better come in today, we

aren't as full today and next week is much worse. " I challenged the guy

on how long I had to wait one time, and he did apologize, but was filled

with excuses. He is one of the best guys in town (all of the doctors

and nurses highly recommend him), so I put up with it.

On the other hand, my pulmonary doctor gave me a 9:30 am appointment one

time. The nurse told me I was the first patient, and all of the other

pulmonary doctors didn't start their appointments until 10:00 am. My

dr. was only a few minutes late.

I have problems remembering how to spell simple words like " care "

before, and of course, spell checker doesn't work unless you are

close. I've forgotten friends/coworkers names a lot. It's irritating

because after seven years of working with them, they aren't happy if you

can't remember their name!

I have problems remembering how to spell simple words like " care "

I live in Magalia. It's near Chico if you know where that is. What

doctor do you go to. I've seen a couple in Sacramento but they didn't help me.
