We're only about 1 hr from each other. I'm seeing a dr of internal

medicine in Fort Wayne that is fabulous. He is compassionate and

caring. They even have a dr that works with him that helps patients

with disability claims. I've been on SSDI for 3 yrs. It took 2 yrs

to get it. I had a good attorney in Muncie.

I am so jealous. I hear everyone talk about getting all this sleep. I'm

lucky if I get 4 hours a night, I toss and turn because I can only lay in

one spot about 20 minutes before it starts to hurt. Some nights I wonder if

I sleep at all. I have a four year old...soon to be five and all the pain

meds I've tried make me sleep for 12 - 18 and I can't function to care for

him. That leaves me to just deal with it. They keep prescribing me anti

depressants but I don't like the way they make me feel.

When I first started the doctors didnt understand and said that it was all

in my head until I met Dr. " B " he is helping me get my pain under control.

I sleep about 7-10 hours a day now, I work 50+ hours a week, and I manage to

make all of my 2 kids sporting events. Some days are pretty bad, but the

Duragesic Patch that gives me a constant flow of pain meds has saved my

life.

And I thought it was only me. I do the same thing with my meds, I can never

remember when the last time I took them and I'm afraid of over medicating,

thus another reason to skip them. :)~ I forget words like *building*,

*sun* ... you know really easy words and things. I thought it was just my

own stupidity. I used to consider myself faily intelligent, now I'm

paralized with fear half the time, afraid I'm forgetting something very

important but can't quite put my finger on it. Am I the only one?

Thank you for your informative email. I am trying to make lemonade

with my lemons as well. I also have the fibro fog severely. Infact just

tonight I had to go outside and look to see if my puppy was outside,

because

I couldn't remember if I had all ready brought him in, which infact I had

all

ready done so. he was upstairs asleep in my bed. I also have the fattest

fish

in the whole world, because I fed them 5,000 times a day due to the fact

that

I can not remember if I had fed them before or not. It is very very

frustrating and I understand where you are coming from.

Annette,

You aren't the only one. I graduated (barely) high school 2 years ago.

If I was to walk in a class reunion right now I couldn't tell you who half of

them were. I have also noticed that I have lost my ability to spell. I use to

be an awsome speller that was my very high point in life, but now...there are

words that I can't remember how to spell to save my life.

I too have done the medicene thing. Infact ....lol this is funny to

me....I called the poison control hotline and told em I thought I OD on my

anti-depressants and she said just count your pills. I felt so stupid, but I

laugh about it now. I hadn't over dosed at all...just that dern fog ....it

won't lift.

Well I hope this makes you realize you aren't the only one dealing

with this crazy fibro fog. Thats for sure. I hope this letter finds you

feeling well and joyful. Huggzz

Hi Allicia,

My name is and I'm 23. I started having fibromyalgia symptoms

when I was 15. I gave up college after 1 year. I don't have a big problem

with fatigue but pain prevents me doing all the things I would need to do to

go to school. I have nerve damage in my elbows so I don't even drive. I

stopped working almost two years ago. I was down to working three hours a day

with a lot of sick days and I was coming home crying because of the pain.

Right now I am without any doctor at all. I was seeing a pain

specialist but he blew me off even though he still fills my prescriptions. I

live in Northern CA and I can't find a doctor that understands fibro and

treats it properly.

I hope you have better luck finding good medical treatment.

I think that I have been very lucky in finding the doctors that I did. My

Primary doctor diagnosed me with fibro and sent me to a rheumatologist who

takes care of my pain medication, my primary does blood work and things or

that nature. My shrink is there for the medication for depression and to

listen to me and to help me to cope. It all seemed to come together at the

right time.

I am also lucky in the fact that my family is very supportive. My husband is

extremely helpful but at the moment he is recuperating from just getting a

new knee. My daughter and granddaughters live right next door. I consider

that I am blessed in all of the help that I get.

Take care,

Irene

Nope, you are not alone. I do the same thing. I forgot one time how to

spell my own first name. I have my meds in a small container for the

different days of the week. My other problem is to remember when I took my

pain medication. I have started writing it down. I have mscontin that I

take every 6 hours and Vicodon that I take for breakthrough pain so I do have

to keep track of those.

I have big problems with not only remembering the word that I want to use but

once I remember I forget how to spell it. And what is worse, it too see

friends that you see all the time and forget their names. I put things in a

place where I know that I will not forget where I put them but of course I do.

Irene,

You are soo lucky. I have seem to find nothing, but people who only

want to listen to 1/2 of what you say and then prescribe you with the " new

drug of the day " that just happens to be the most expensive in the U.S. Would

you by chance live anywhere close to Indiana??? ....lol

I just called my Rheumy about an hour ago....it is pouring here and I am in

some serious pain. Last night I passed out from being in so much pain. I

called the doc to see if she will prescribe me something for the break

through pain...if she doesn't I don't know what I am going to do...I can't

even stand up straight or bend and touch my feet. I guess I will go to the ER

if she refuses to give me something. because I am deffinately in some pain

here. Well I hope ya'll are better than me...lots of huggz
