Well, I am 5'5, brown hair, brown eyed, German-Italian born in Missouri.

I wouldn't have been able to describe myself as any of the things below (until

about 6 months ago). I have always looked much younger than I am and have always

had sweaty hands and feet. I have read that this can be a common characteristic

among people with Graves.

The only " clue " that I would have some kind of thyroid problem is that my

thyroid has always been large. As a child my mom would make the doctor test me

all the time. When I developed a goiter I didn't even realize it for a while

because of the " normal " size of my thyroid.

Interesting.

ok, so in a nutshell, we are or were delusional

worriers who can't take bright lights, control freak

perfectionists prone to emotional outbursts. alot of

us were athletes when we were young, sprinters not

distance runners. we got in trouble for " bouncing " our

legs and making the whole room shake. i've noticed

quite a few patterns over the last year on this board.

ok so how many are tall, blue-eyed polish girls whose

parents were from new york or new jersey.lol. gosh i

love having y'all around to help me realize every day

that i am not alone.

Yes. Me, too. I want to start meditation, because I've heard it can really

help. I'm still looking for a good book on it.

Re: emotional lability - also a poll

Same here Holly with the leg bouncing. Do you have trouble just trying to

relax too...like the minute you lie down to try to take a cat nap...all you

can think of is the hundred things you _should_ be doing? Also I find it

hard to do only one thing at a time...if I am watching the TV, I need to be

doing crosstitch or a crossword puzzle at the same time or at least have my

book so I can read if things get slow or during commercials. I really need

to try those relaxation and breathing techniques.

Wow, Amy. Doctors have fondled my throat all my life because I had a large

thyroid, too. Regardless what I went in for, inevitably, the doctor would

be " attracted " to my neck!

Well I am now 5'2 " , after registering 5' 1 1/2 " for the last 10 years! Hmmmm

think I can make it to maybe 5' 6 " ? My feet have grown 1/2 of a size also

in the last 3/4 years. I am also blue-eyed and blonde and of German, Dutch

and English descent.

Ruthie,

>>>Also I find it hard to do only one thing at a time...if I am watching the

>>>TV, I need to be doing crosstitch or a crossword puzzle at the same time

>>>or at least have my book so<<<

This made me laugh as I can not ever just sit and watch TV, I don't do the

crossstitch anymore because of my eyes, but always have a book in my hand,

or 3 X 5 cards, making my *lists* of what I need to do LOL.

I too have the bouncing legs, when they both get going they shake the floor

and drive everyone nuts ;-) And I have done this since I was a very small

child. Also as a child I had severe heat intolerance and very light

sensitive eyes, had what one teacher called " chronic motor mouth " and have

never needed a lot of sleep until the last couple of years.

Amy,

>>>I have always looked much younger than I am and have always

had sweaty hands and feet<<<

I still look much younger than I am...will be 50 this year and no one

believes it. When I have my grandson with me, strangers think he is my son

(he is blue-eyed blonde also and his parents both have dark curly hair) and

not my grandson. I don't have sweaty feet but I don't ever wear socks, even

in the winters of western NY because I can't stand for my feet to be hot at

all.

Jody, you're supposed to shrink as you get older, not grow! ;) Well, good

for you. My mom who was always 5'4 " is now 5'2 " -a horrifying concept for

me! I've contemplated hanging upside down on one of those inversion tables

to see if I could grow instead of shrink! :-)

Jody, let me know your secret please! I'd love to grow taller than my 5'4.

Of course you may just be standing taller, you provide so much help to so

many here!

As for the feet, mine grew 1/2 size with each baby.

Hi Terry,

Thank you for your compliment. I have no idea why I am now a half inch

taller?!?!?! And neither does my doctor. Because of my age she now

measures my height to see if I'm shrinking, we both got a laugh over the

extra half inch and I never gave it any more thought.

The only thing I am taking differently and only for the last 5 months is my

ca/mg...maybe I got a magic bottle.

Your feet grew a half size with each of your kids!!! WOW. With mine I just

continued to get more allergic to metals. I now can not wear any jewelry at

all, not even my wedding band, no earrings, no watches, nothing :( So I

have told my husband for my 50th birthday this fall I want a matched set of

Pearls :)

Strange the things we go through.

I'm a short (5'4) green eyed mutt consisting of Irish, ish, German and

possibly Swedish background--the haircolor thing depends on the day of the

week!!
