Piper and All,

My point is that our society has evolved in many ways to an excuse making, blaming, irresponsible collection of escapists. Lets see ......" I'm diseased, I was abused, it's my damn limbic system, I was neglected, I'ts not my job, it's not my responsibility, I'm powerless", ad nauseum.

There may very well be plausable reasons for what happened yesterday that affected us yesterday, on that day, and possibly, cumlatively over time, but today is today and we do have the choice, the power, the oportunity and the responsibility to decide today how we are going to feel today, how we are gonna percieve the world around us, how we are gonna act today, how we are gonna react to what goes on around us in a forward looking, empowered, growing, building outlook on life.

<<Just curious Steve.  Why is it that you are always worried about whose fault something is? >> I'm concerned because I see a lot of hurt people carying around the pain of yesterday like its some sort of medal in the great war of life, using it as a sort of herald to identify to themselves ( and to others)who they are .......and keeping themselves chained to it by enless circuitus searching for reasons today to explain, justify, excuse, blame or simply to find reasons for yesterday. Why should yesterday be more important to us than tommorrow? Maybe its the security of knowing who we are with the baggage of the past rather than abstract unknown of who might be without it.

I don't like to see people hurt, and more so, I don't like to see people hurting themselves. I think that all that reactive thinking and feeling is hurtful to too many people. I think people are healthier when thier lives are active, moving forward, looking toward possibilities and building on the foundations of our past experiences.

I see life as a great adventure. Dragging around a lot of baggage really prevents us from really being open to the possibilities. I envision it like this: I am traveling the world on foot with no more than I can carry, push, or drag. I wanna go everywhere and do everthing, absorbing all that I can along the way from both the people I meet and the things I see. The point I left from was my birth and the place it will end will be my death. Now, if I choose to cart around a big steemer trunk of stuff from a place I was yesterday, it will slow me down, wear me down, preventing me from getting to places and to people that I could get to without it..... constantly having to consider and plan ahead, taking the less scenenic path just to cart around yesterday.
