As a child you probably received no early intervention or anything at all. Gabe is probably fine even if he is somewhere on the low end of the specrtrum. And Robbie is VERY NT. Um, worse than some and better than others. I am not sure that the ATEC really explains itself. Most of us use it to see how are individual child is doing. Putter over the past three years has dropped over thirty points. Salli

Boone has the highest ATEC score that I have seen and I think it was in the 120's or 130's, but Sissi can tell us. I know you can be more autistic than Boone because he is so very intelligent and there are some really really autistic people out there. I belonged to some of the more severe lists when Putter was younger, non-verbal lists and a moderate to severe list. Most of those people didn't post much, probably didn't have the time (I remember asking on Non-Verbal Autism if the parents were non-verbal too, LOL), but it was clear to me that Putter, however severely affected he may be, was not like the kids on those lists. One of the moms posted that her son had never made a sound in his life, and he was not particularly young either. Salli
Guest guest
First of all, I didn't know this test was even on line. Well, I didn't think to record what the numbers were in specific areas (DUH) but just wrote down the overall score. Well, here is what we have: Just for fun I did Atlanta who is so NT it's scary ;0) and she got a 5. (well, now we know what *normal* is. LOL) Savannah scored a 77 (kind of expected her to be a bit lower since she passes as *normal* to strangers...well, except the garbage men LOL!) And now the three in question (why am I NOT surprised by these scores?): Sierra 85 Cheyenne 45 (I know her biggest problem is in speach. Didn't need a test to tell me that) Dalton 89 I didn't do Dakota or Cherokee. Why? No idea. Didn't think to do them. Georga Hackworth www.ubah.com/F1549 Enter to win $50 in FREE books! Gabe is I did get a bit of ST for pronunciation, and I was in the gifted program which was fabulous for me. But that was school-age and I doubt anyone involved knew the first thing about autism. AS was, of course, unknown. > probably fine even if he is somewhere on the low end of the > specrtrum. I do agree with that. Thanks for the reminder. And > Robbie is VERY NT. Guest guest
Holy Moly! I'd call that a recovery. I would expect some residual issues to remain, but wow, a 7! I can only imagine.

Which would be a pretty darn severely affected child if you think about it. Hmmm. I know is very young and he could be a WHOLE lot worse. I have a lot of hope that his intelligence and his special gifts will help him to overcome his difficulties. And I know that 2-4 seems to be the worst time for a lot of kids; another year or two will undoubtedly bring amazing changes. The last year certainly has. But it does seem lately that he shows a lot more very autistic behaviors. From the tests, though, those have been balanced by improvements in other areas, and that is encouraging. -Sara.
