Guest guest
Hi Deb, It is amazing what a lack of pain can do for the body and soul. Often we have joked about it and blamed the " metal ions " for making us a bit randy. Yes - life does get better after you're surfed (or replaced). If anything, this experience has taught me that life is short ... enjoy life ... and thanks for the chuckles :-) Best wishes, Wolf gimpymommi wrote:Thanks, Isobel! I'm sorry if that offends anyone; but I'll bet I'm not alone in this! One caution about losing one crutch from my own experience. I didn't have crutches, only two canes. I used both until about two weeks after surgery and then started using one, mainly because I felt confident enough and partly because it was a pain getting around with two when I needed to carry stuff (like chocolates from the Cadbury's factory). I found that it took a fairly long time for my limp to go away (maybe 8 weeks in total). I stopped using the other cane about 6 weeks after surgery, and then started using it again for about 10 days. I think that had I continued using both canes, the limp would have gone away a bit sooner. Just a thought - not medical advice. Ya gotta keep on keeping on ( Stills Circa 1969) Des
Guest guest
hi des, thanks for the note about using two canes instead of crutches. i think i'll try that. they have some 'pretty' ones in a bronze/coppery colour.... less cumbersome for when i find the belgium chocolate factory....there's got to be one, or at least a shop with buckets of the delicious stuff.....it pays to have something really pleasant to think about..... cheers, steph rbhr desmet april 2, '

Guest guest
Steph- unless you need the canes now wait til you get to Belgium to get them. They sell them in the hospital for about 17 euros. No need to worry about finding chocolate factories - they are everywhere and you really should sample each one!!! We found lovely all natural chocolate places in Brugges - both places said that it was important that you eat the chocolate within a month because there were no additives - as if that would be a problem!!! Guest guest
Hurray, you got there, isn't it great? Funny making those Belgian keyboards work without funny punctuations for letters! I remember getting up in the middle of the night and taking a walk downstairs to use the computer cause I was uncomfortable and couldn't sleep. Please say a personal hello to Jan, Marc, and of course, Koen, not to mention the Holiday Inn staff. I can't remember her name, but the head of dining at breakfast during the week, I think, was so wonderful to my 8 year old daughter Nandi. Ask her if she remembers the little girl with reddish hair. She gave her a big bag of Belgian sweets! Lots of love, Isara > you go donna...im day 4 post op...mostlylooking forward to a good walk and a > great evening with the man i love..every day for the past 7 yrs has been a > struggle ..all the information about every possible detail of this kind of > recovery is food for all of us regardless of moral issues ..i am a human > nothing more nothing less...a new prayer is in order and i for one ..hurrah > for this topic as i was too embarassed to bring it up prior to my surgery ..i > am in belgium at the holiday inn...all i think about is walkiing sex and > eating and war in that order..sorry maybe primal but true ..hope you can > handle it. this site has saved my sanity and my longevity..each is entitled > totheir own opiniions and topics ..i have the option to delete and do so if > ot interested in the topic..you guys that have problem talking about a normal > human function should just delete and move on. > Saglliettigirl > > >
