I had a pannilectomy in June 2001(lower stomach overhang removed and about 4

inches down the middle), my husband asked at the time if there would be any

problems she said no. I am pregnant now and my OB's concern is that it is

going to be a little tricky getting the baby out via c-section. Where to

make the incision and such. Only problem that has come up during my

appointments is that they cannot go according to where my belly button is to

find the baby because my belly button was turned, reconstructed and

repositioned. It makes for an interesting visit when my doc starts looking

for the baby. :-)

For myself I think that I am showing quicker than I did during my first

pregnancy however I am also 150 pound lighter than before and because then I

had my lower stomach and now I do not.

I do not know if this helps or not.

Thanks,

Laa

I had an abdominoplasty in July 00 and had a baby in May 02. I had no problem

with the pregnancy as a result of the abdominoplasty. Abdominoplasty dealt

with the abdominal muscle wall, not with the uterus/uterine wall.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I

had a C section with my last baby (she is 14). I

really wanted to have a baby with my new husband.I am

also about 150 lbs lighter. I am smaller now than I

was when I had my first baby.

Again thank you for sharing your experience.

I am curious how your skin looks after you had the baby? Is it back to how

it looked after the tuck or different? I have been wanting to ask questions

along these lines, but am already Pregnant.

You can't even tell I had a baby, the muscle is tight as ever though the skin

isn't as tight pre-pregnancy. I don't know how to describe it, the skin is

just minimally " laxed " - but then again I haven't been working out like I did

prior to the pregnancy or during.

What about stretch marks? Did you get them before and/or with the last

pg?

- Alice (who's so covered in stretch marks, it diesn't really matter.

Just curious.)

To be honest, I couldn't imagine getting prego less than a year out after my

abdominoplasty. I was soooooooo tight, DH would literally bounce coins off my

tummy for a laugh. I would imagine it would have been uncomfortable as the

skin and muscle wall began to stretch during the months of pregnancy. I got

prego about 14 months post abdominoplasty and fortunately I didn't gain much so

the expansion of the abdominal muscles and skin were slow over the course of

pregnancy. I did get 'stupid' about 8 months out and put on 15 lbs (bad eating

and stopped working out) and the weight, even though was small, really made my

abdominal wall feel the new found weight. Needless to say, within 6 weeks, I

had that extra 15 gone.

Re: Tummy Tuck and Pregnancy

I've had one baby the natural way(He is 17 now)and the

youngest(age 14) was a C section. My tummy is still a

little sore from the TT in February. Some people think

I am crazy for wanting another baby after everything I

have been through, so I guess I am looking for advice

and support.

That's one thing I did get! It was explained that my skin was so tight

pre-pregnancy and had very little elastin (as a result of being obese prior)

that I should expect stretch marks and I DID!

I haven't decided yet but perhaps after the next baby I will get the stretch

marks laser resurfaced.

I don't mind the tummy-tuck discussions here, since they tend to directly

relate to WLS and pregnancy. If you were posting to the list asking for

advice relating to fighting your insurance to cover WLS, or spending lots of

time describing your post-op bowel movements and wondering if they're

normal, I might ask you to take it to a different list... <snort>... but

plastic surgery tends to directly affect your body shape in as major a way

as a pregnancy does, so the topics are completely relevant to our list here.

Speaking of plastic surgery, I got some hopeful news today. I decided that I

would consult with a plastic surgeon just to see what it would cost to fix

what's left of my figure... I knew I wouldn't have nearly enough, but at

least then I'd know. He took one look at my enormous boobs that hang nearly

to my bellybutton and declared, " Your insurance will cover a reduction. " He

had been somewhat discouraging when I mentioned a tummy tuck because I still

weigh about 200#, but when he got a look at the droopy panniculum, he said

that I wasn't a good candidate for an abdominoplasty but I AM a good

candidate for a panniculectomy. I guess I didn't really realize they were

different, but he described to me how they were, and it made sense. Plus,

when he was checking my belly, he discovered... <drum roll> ... a HERNIA!!!

<confetti> <cheering> I'd prayed for one of those, because now that means I

get to have a panniculectomy covered by insurance!!! WOO HOO!!!

Back to pregnancy stuff... anyone here have experience with a tubal reversal

or a husband with a vasectomy reversal? I have a friend who's interested in

it, and I was wondering if anyone had any idea what success rates are.

Not yet. They have to actually submit it and get the pre-approval. They said

it should be about four weeks. I feel rather giddy about it, truthfully, and

at the same time cautiously reserved. I won't believe it until I actually

see it, KWIM? I don't trust those insurance pencil-pushers. <snort>
