Guest guest
Thanks for the welcome. No, I don't think my training has had much effect. I'm trained as a school psychologist. Certainly my training in cognitive restructuring is useful, as I try to keep from what AA calls " stinkin' thinkin' " I expect that I will retire my license and leave that part of my life behind. It's pretty stressful, and if I can make something of a sucess as a writer I can work at home on my own hours and make time for PT, etc. Being home I feel like the weight of the world is off my shoulders; taking care of my health, the house, my kids, the bills, etc., is enough. Plus my writing and iconography. I think this is going to be a lot better than trying to have a job " out there " . :-) Jan Jan Re: Introduction > Jan...welcome! Guest guest
Hi Traecey, Welcome to the group, and congratulations on your pregnancy!!! Marcy Wallis edd 12/08/02 Introduction Hi all. My name is Traecey and I had an RNY on 7/18/01 (15 months post-op). I've lost 160 pounds. I found out last Thursday that I'm pregnant (6 weeks). While my husband and I had not officially been trying or not trying, we were shocked nevertheless. We went through may years of infertility treatment when I was MO and got pregnant once, only to miscarry. We then adopted our beautiful daughter who will be 5 in November. Needless to say, I am cautiously optimistic that my pregnancy will go okay and am holding back on telling too many people until I get past week 12. I'm joining the group to learn and share and look forward to getting to know all of you. Traecey RNY 7/18/01 (369 pounds) Today: (209 pounds) Children are a blessing, and a gift from the Lord. -Psalm 127:

Guest guest
Hi, KerryAnn and welcome.. Congratulations on your baby! (I love her name.) I'm sure it's a bit frightening and overwhelming to be faced with the issue of clubfoot, even if you've been told it's a mild case.. but be assured that everything can work out fine. Clubfoot can be well corrected, and your baby will go on to have a normal life. Can her foot be moved into a normal position? Have you been told it's definitely clubfoot? If it is, it IS important, however, to understand the various types of treatment out there and get started on the right path. I'd advise you to do lots of research on the internet and elsewhere, and don't be afraid to follow your instincts and question the doctors you see. Sometimes even mild cases can end up being tricky if they aren't handled right from the beginning. The foot becomes less flexible and the deformity more fixed the more time that goes by. You are fortunate that your baby has been born at a time in which there has been increasing interest, understanding and practice of the Ponseti method, which is a totally different way of correcting clubfoot than the prevailing method of the past several decades. It avoids surgery 95% of the time. If you speak to a doctor who says clubfoot can be corrected only half the time, or less, you know he or she is not using the method. They should be able to tell you the number of casts in which it will be corrected and be confident in the outcome. The main site for you to check out for information is: http://www.vh.org/Patients/IHB/Ortho/Peds/Clubfeet/Clubfeet.html I am in N.C. too, and we ended up going to Iowa for treatment, to avoid surgery, when our daughter was several months old, although this was several years ago. I believe someone has given you information on Dr. Frick in Charlotte, who is, I understand, experienced and committed to the Ponseti method. If you want to ask Dr. Ponseti for his recommendation on whom to see, you can contact him as well. We have also seen and highly recommend Dr. Herzenberg in Baltimore, if a trip to that area would be possible for you. Feel free to ask for help and support here. You can also email me directly if you'd like by clicking on my address at the top of this message. To reassure you.. my daughter is 2 1/2 now, and doing wonderfully. No one has any idea anything was ever wrong. Please keep us posted on how things go, and enjoy every minute with little Belle! Guest guest
Hi KerryAnn- It doesn't sound like cf to me, but maybe it is extremely mild. Is her heel stuck up in the back of her foot? My son was diagnosed with a mild CF and it was not movable into a neutral position at all. Best of luck with your appointment tomorrow.
