Guest guest
Glad to hear things are going well! Some words of encouragement.....when your precious lil one hits six weeks she'll be sleeping most of the night, waking up for one or two feeds. Kendra goes down around 7pm and wakes up for a 3 am feed then back down til 7am. During the day she'll still feed every 3 hours but least she's letting mommy get some sleep during the night! We co-sleep and that is heaven in itself in regards to getting as much sleep possible! O mom to Kendra Noelle 5-23-02 Hi all Hi everyone. Thanks for all the congrats! and I are home and doing fine. Guest guest
Glad to hear all is well, Merry. Would you mind sharing what your lactation consultant suggested. I'm sure many would be interested. Thanks! Jordan's Mommy ( in California) Hi All Hi everyone! Well I am finally taking a time-out to update everyone on myself and . It's been an interesting 3 weeks to say the least. Our little angel is quite backwards on the whole day and night routine. She sleeps most of the day and wants to bond with mommy in the middle of the night. I am becoming a huge fan of co-sleeping. It seems to be helping a little bit. I am so glad that my other kiddos are a little older and I can pop a video and catch a nap during the day with them! lol I saw my OB-Gyn on Friday and got the all clear from him. He has been so supportive of my weight loss surgery and I am soooo grateful to have had him as my doc. I started the pregnancy at 4 months post-op and weighing according to his records at 191. My weight on Friday was 145 pounds. Needless to say I was ecstatic to have been able to lose weight and still have a healthy pregnancy. I am still 15 from goal but I know I can get there. I have been breastfeeding and at first didn't think I was going to be able to pull it off. Her pediatrician was not impressed with her weight gain and had me keep bringing her in for weight checks. I finally contacted a lactation consultant and got some good advice on nursing her and better types of foods to eat to improve milk production. She is nursing great and at about every 3-4 hours. She goes back to the doc tomorrow for another weigh-in. Hopefully all will look good. I wanted to say congrats to all of the new mommies, and the new soon to be mommies! Also welcome to all of the new members. Nette - I am glad to hear you and baby are doing well. What a scary experience. Take care of yourself and keep us posted! Guest guest
Well, I don't think we can call her little anymore...she's now 18 pounds! She is such a blessing! She started rolling over on the 15th of July. Yesterday, she discovered her feet...she loves to grab them while she's on her back. She laughs hysterically when I grab her little foot and touch her nose with her toes. ) Her physical development is a little behind for her chronological age...as is to be expected. She's been prescribed physical therapy to increase her upper body strength. And, it's working. I've seen a vast improvement in her head stability and she's holding her head up more and more while on her tummy. Thanks for posting the info from you lactation consultant. It's great to gather all that excellent info! Keep us posted onl your little one's progress. Sounds like you're having a blast with her! Hi All Hi everyone! Guest guest
Hi - Well one of the things she suggested was to focus on the complex carbohydrates such as whole grain types of foods. I had been still focusing on my protein regime. I am supposed to try and get in at least 5 servings of these carbs per day. She said to focus on 2-3 servings of protein per day. Sometimes easier said than done on the above. lol. I have increased my H20 from 8 glasses per day to 12 per day as well. I assume all the above is helping or working. I took in this morning and she had gained 10 oz in 1 week and they were very pleased at the pediatrician's office. The other thing I have been doing is not looking at the clock while nursing. When in the hospital they kept telling me X amount of minutes on each breast. The consultant suggested letting the baby nurse on 1 breast and completely empty it and offer the next breast at the next feeding or if she still acts hungry I can move her over. The majority of the calories in breast milk are in the hind milk which is at the end of the feeding. Basically I am letting the princess dictate how much time we spend on nursing and it helps. Lastly she recommended a book called " The complete book of Breastfeeding " by Eiger and Olds. It has been pretty helpful however there might be some better books, this is the first one I have looked at. Now how is little Jordan doing? Merry Hi All Hi everyone! My weight on Friday was 145 pounds. Needless to say I was ecstatic to have been able to lose weight and still have a healthy pregnancy. I am still 15 from g! oal but I know I can get there. Hugs to all Merry
