Pam, I am glad you had a chance to post. Sounds like you are having a pretty nice time. You deserve to sit back and relax, too bad the weather hasn't corporated with you the whole time. I hope you enjoy a nice cloud-free day. Get more from the Web. FREE MSN Explorer download : http://explorer.msn.com

We are fineally a bit settled here in CO. We love it here and are enjoying

the skiing. T. I hope you are settling in at IL. I noted that you

mentioned relocating in the Champaign area.

Regaurding the pole, my daughter Ivy's tenomoy was done in office.

and I wittnessed the procedure. The doctor was very swift; I would liken

it to a shot.

Regards to everyone at the great board,

Sara and Ivy 8/17/99

Hi Marie,

>>>I didn't understand was some of the precautions were longer than 3 days.

>>>pamphlet?<<<

Listen to the doctor! You don't want to endanger anyone else around you.

Somewhere in the archives from about 3/4 months ago there are several posts

regarding the precautions after RAI for humans and for pets (cats mostly)

and when you see the precautions for animals, it will astound you why they

let us out and near the people we love, co-workers and unsuspecting souls.

In NY State law, it even states that humans are not allowed to use public

tranport for up to 2 weeks after having RAI. Our Kitties are kept away from

human contact from 2-6 weeks, depending on the state you live in. They must

be tested with a machine, like a geiger counter and be below a *normal*

level of radiation before we take them home.

Did you have the RAI or the uptake? If it was just the uptake, you may want

to consider surgery as an option. If the RAI, I wish the best of luck,

learn your hypo symptoms inside and out, and at the first sign of any of

them, call and request the labs immediately! I crashed into hypO 6 weeks

after RAI and was left there for over 4 years of hell. Make sure your

doctor will monitor your FT3 and FT4, NOT your TSH, you will have a much

more accurate picture of what is going on in your body with the proper labs.

Take care,

Jody

Marie, the radiologist is right. I work in a lab and was able to measure my

levels of radioiodine. I continued to be radioactive for abut 6 weeks and in

the meantime, I contaminated the entire nuclear chemistry department of the

lab where I worked just by walking in the room. Take care, Elaine
