Guest guest
Mine went away within 24 hours of going GF. I think it probably varies from person to person though. Trudy > > How do you get rid of the FAT BLOTED feeling???? >

Guest guest
Thanks goodness, it seems to improve relatively soon after going GF. I do admit that a bit of my tummy is going to have to be improved with more exercise, but there is a difference between seeing a little jiggle and feeling like my belly is being pushed out and cannot be pulled in. I never understood when people would say they felt bloated during certain times of the month. I now realize that it was because I felt bloated ALL the time, so I didn't know what not bloated was. To be completely honest about my vain side, that is one of the true reasons I know I need to stay GF. Anything that makes me look pregnant when I am positive I am not just cannot be doing good things to my body. > > How do you get rid of the FAT BLOTED feeling???? >
Guest guest
I wish!!! Lactose intolerant since high school - I can eat a little baby scoop without problems, but transitioning to GF required a bit more than a baby scoop sometimes ;-) Have you guys checked out www.mypyramidtracker.com? It is the government food pyramid site where you can put in what you eat and it gives you the nutritional breakdown. Depending on what you eat, sometimes you have to do a little substituting to something close to it (like most GF food is lot listed by brand), but I figure it is fairly accurate. I use it to spot check and make sure I am eating a good amount of fiber, vitamins etc. > > > I used ice cream. ) > > Trudy >
Guest guest
Yes, it’s those symptoms that I thought were just normal that I forget to emphasize when I’m having paper gown amnesia. Do I feel bloated? Do I have normal BMs? How do you know unless they’ve changed from one to the other? Vanity used in service to your health is a good thing, positive and empowering. It’s the shadow side of vanity that trips us up eventually. Laurie lbilyeu@... Guest guest
I think he is on top of it! He’s at the Celiac center in Boston’s Beth Israel hospital—it makes sense that a doctor would be more thorough in a place where they must see every kind of manifestation of Celiac. He seems to believe also that gluten intolerance without villi damage is probably just a “pre-celiac” condition. Guest guest
Have you tried mixing your favorite herbs and spices in with some Tofutti cream cheese? If you make it into a ball, you can roll it in some crushed nuts to make it like a cheese ball you'd buy in a store (would work better if refredgerated again for a couple hours after mixing before rolling in nuts). You can also add some Follow Your Heart cheddar (shredded) for another flavor. Trudy in NH > > Never mind-it's a gross concoction! I've been off the list for a while and only just returned so I hadn't seen that thread. I'll admit that even with the gluten free list and signs I still check products that I've never tried before. The signs must be a local thing. I don't know. I love that they do it, but I've also noticed that there are discrepancies between the signs and the list as well. I use it mostly for when I'm kind of browsing around to see what's out that that I may want to try. Again, I read the labels still at all stores. Guest guest
That would definitely work better! A cheese ball needs that sweeter cream cheese flavor and consistency. I haven’t tried Follow Your Heart stuff—I’ll be looking carefully at such ideas if we get a real dairy intolerance reading when tests come back. Laurie lbilyeu@... Guest guest
I did catch that warning before, but thanks for the reminder. I’ve been shopping at Trader Joes for 20 years—I think they’re fabulous with their own unique flaws. I wouldn’t trust any list from any grocery store blindly. I should have asked them for a print out in the store today…but being there without the list I’d printed out (and my own actual and carefully prepared shopping list) I looked at that long aisle of frozen food and knew I’d never find many of the gf options on my own. West Coast TJ shoppers will be amused to hear that in Massachusetts Trader Joe’s is only about food. Their cool selection of beer and wine are only available in 3 stores! MA still has odd, restrictive liquor license laws. I don’t remember that those three stores carry spirits at all. Laurie lbilyeu@... Guest guest
I want your Dr. too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so glad that your challenge is almost over. I had my endoscopy last week and I am waiting for the results. It sounded like everything looked good, so I am just waiting for the biopsy results. I wonder if you can have a positive biopsy without any obvious damage. My Dr. said that the results take two weeks which seems like a long time. I think that Angie got her results back in just several days. My Dr. doesn't want to do any further testing, but I think I may push for more blood work. It sounds like you have had so many more tests than I have and I just want to make sure that my testing is complete. My $450 Dr. was so much more thorough and interested. I haven't been online much as I am having a hard time keeping up with all my emails. Between work and dealing with aging parents, I just don't have a lot of time to keep up with leisure activities. This group is so informative, but I feel like I am missing out of so much lately. Anyway, best of luck on Wednesday! I am looking forward to your update. Guest guest
Back and all done with endoscopy! It was a simple procedure, really. I just have a little sore throat. I also have a cold—it snuck up on me in the night so I didn’t sleep much. Just went to sleep even faster on the table. So, he told me today that the ttg and iga bloodtests came back normal! Maybe I really had it cleared out of my system (I had an elevated IgA before going gluten free then gluten challenge) He thought the lining of the intestine looked normal, but I have inflammation in the lining of the stomach! Anyone have any thoughts about that? He wants me to take Prilosec for 8 weeks and stay on gluten for the first week to see if the gluten or the Prilosec cures what gastro symptoms I have. I’m too foggy to figure this out this evening. I had a granola bar on the way home and just ate some pasta salad. I think we’ll postpone the steak dinner though. Laurie lbilyeu@... Guest guest
How odd! I my paper says that i had inflamtaion in the stomach too. I didnt get meds, but i did read that it can be caused by stress, too much alcohol and about a million other things. I belive (and i could have been too groggy to undertsnad) that he said my intestines were inflammed, but he did say to follow a GF diet so we'll see in 2 days, or unless my mom can interecept the results from my md (where she works) first. -- In SillyYaks , " Laurie Bilyeu " wrote: > > Back and all done with endoscopy!
