Hello again,

Don't worry about asking questions, that is what we all need to

do in order to learn. I'm no expert on the Quakers, just a few

basic things. They were started by Fox, in colonial

america, along with the Shakers, Amish, Puritians, Unitarians,

and a whole lot more. Quaker is a nickname the proper name is

" Society of Friends. " They are not a very large group, but still

exist. If you live in a city in the U.S., you would be likely to find

" Society of Friends " listed in your phone book under churches.

The tend to be very liberal, pascivists, firm belief in acceptance

and understanding. The genearally oppose war, and they were

one of the groups that was instrumental in the abolition of

slavery in the early U.S. history. Well, that's about the extent of my

knowledge of the Quakers. OH, the guy on the " Quaker Oats " box

is dressed in attire that was typical of the early Quakers. Today

they do not have attire that is exclusive to the group.

Ewell(sic?) Gibbons was a quaker; you know... the

a pine cone? Many parts are edible... "

Yeah, I remember ol' Euell on TV. He died of stomach cancer, if I recall

correctly. Put me right off both Grape Nuts and pine cones!

Hmmm... that explains his policy of protraction in

Vietnam, wanton disregard for the US Constitution, the

Saturday Night Massacre, etc... I think that guy ate

one too many pine cones (the inedible parts only)...

or at times thats all his head seemed to be filled

From Rita, " Yeah, I remember ol' Euell on TV. He died of stomach cancer, if I

recall

correctly. Put me right off both Grape Nuts and pine cones! "

Euell didn't die of stomach cancer. He had a heart attack at the Sunbury, PA AA

meeting.

Members rushed him to the hospital, but Euell died.

He was a devout stepper. He lived out in the boonies around here and came to

our meetings

as well as other meetings within driving distance. We knew each other by name

and by

sight. He was great buddies with my sponsor and my grand-sponsor (by which I

mean my

sponsor's sponsor).

I was about to get to know him better. I was one of the people he and his wife

had

invited to come to a holiday party at their house out in the boonies. But

suddenly he

died, and I forget exactly what date. It was within a few days of Christmas or

New

Year's.

My grand-sponsor was of the opinion that Euell's last big drunk damaged his

heath and

contributed to his death. Six months previously Euell went on a hell of a

bender that

lasted days and days and ended with him coming out of a blackout in a car

somewhere in

another state and not knowing where he was or how the hell he got there or how

much time

had passed. I have no idea whether or not my grand-sponsor was right about that

contributing to his death.

Euell loved chocolate, and he loved burgers. I was so surprised when I learned

that. I

thought he was into nuts and berries and stuff like that. But he'd head into

town and go

and get greaseburgers, by golly. I was looking forward to the chocolate he and

his wife

were planning to serve at their party.

I like Grapenuts. I never did find out if Euell actually ate Grapenuts himself.

And I

still have an autographed hickory nut he gave me.

Cheers,

nz

All people differ in what their taste buds liek after surgery. I buy

fat free dressings or " light " types. One of my favorite dressings as a

reduced fat zinfandel dressing from cains. But since it is only sold in

bulk to restaraunts and the like I get it from a local palce. Boy is it

good. I also love white and red wine vinagrettes, italian, raspberry

vinagrette, ranch. french, catalina and a good parm. ceasar. Most

dressing makers now have fat free or light dressings.

I eat the " Just 2 good " salad dressings...I personally like the Ranch, but

it's a taste you have to sorta adjust to. You can basically use any of them

I'm told, within reason.

Does anyone have any suggestions about salad dressings for when my

diet is advanced to that point?

Hi there! You can use lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, lite soy sauce,

worstershire sauce(tiny bit) olive oil..all in small amounts...or diet

dressings pre mixed. Just try tiny bits at first to see how you tolerate

them good luck Priscilla

Too funny! Now I'll know when seeing a person that looks like a potato

sack, exactly who the real you is!

Hey everyone! I have a laugh for you tonight. I asked my husband of

only 2 years, what he would do when I get skinnny and have other guys

look at me. (In response to the psych eval question) Just as easy as

he breaths he said, " Not a problem, when you get skinny I'm putting a

potatoe sack over you when we go out! " HaHaHa I was very surprised

to have him tell me he will be very jealous but he trusts our

relationship and what we have. So, I think that we will do fine if

we keep the lines of communication open AND I don't do or say things

that would make him feel insecure.

Thanks for reading! Thanks for the support that all of you offer as

it helps so much!
