Guest guest
The saddest is what this rotten disease is doing to me. I have trouble dealing with it. I have been loved and had a very interesting life....I'd like to write a book. I continue to meet the most beautiful, caring people and I still get out and go places, not exactly traveling around the world, but around this little tiny little area where I live. I find some wonderful things. Kathi Re: hot,hi ya'll KATHI-oops, MIL and FIL= mother-in-law and father-in-law. sorry. I get lost in some of them also.. One code I haven't been able to crack is: kwim...what the heck is that? Anyways, we visit every yr. down here in Myrtle Beach-my hub's folks live here; they moved here in 1993, and we visit here for 2 wks every summer. Sometimes we come also at either Easter or Christmas. It is brutally hot here. My FIL- father-in-law has 2 wheelchairs and a scooter. My mil said I could use my father-in-laws scooter as he doesn't much use it anymore;' prefers his chairs. Anyway, we went to this huge outdoor boardwalk place with loads of shops and stores, and I was going to use my fatherin law's scooter, but my husband said, no, you'll be fine. I really got mad at my husband. He is really in denial about my MS. And I want to take this opportunity to tell those spouses and family members, and loved ones--thank you, for those of you who do not deny BR>the MS your loved one has. Thank you. I appreciate you for being brave, courageous and strong enough to face up to the reality that is MS.love to all, kate> >> > Posting here from unbearably hot and humid SC! Guest guest
Kathi, this has got to be so very hard. Any sane person would have trouble dealing with this form of MS and what it can do to one. You know, many of your posts to our group might well provide the basis for a book, kind of a log of how you have felt. I hope that you can achieve that, as it is needed. I would also like to know more about what you used to do as an artist; my own father, and most in his family, were artists, primarily oil painting, des pite having careers in other professional fields. My own mother was a concert pianist and orchestra accompanist. I do paint and am still able to play a few of the instruments that I once played. I can only imagine the loss to you. Please feel free to let us know more of how life used to be for you--but only if you feel that you want to do that. Love your way, n, with relapsing-remitting (a LOT more remitting lately) MS --------- Re: hot,hi ya'll KATHI-oops, MIL and FIL= mother-in-law and father-in-law. sorry. Guest guest
I agree with both of you. I went from nobody asking about my wellbeing to being overwhelmed with worry about it. If I need help, I'll ask for it. Don't TELL me to go lay down. Don't TELL me I need to take a pill. Don't TELL me this or that will make me feel better. How would you know? The problem seems for me to be the opposite. My dx is still new, just coming up on a year. I'm hoping it will wear off a little. Every time I say OW, my hubby rushes to make sure I'm alright. If my cane falls, he comes running to see if I've fallen. Drives me nuts. I still push myself more than I should probably. That's hard to get used to. Not doing what you were able to do before, I'm having a hard time with that. Being concerned is one thing, being overprotective is not helping me to accept my situation. I was overprotected as a child, I'm an adult now, please treat me like one. One day I may need your help. I will have to ask for it. Burning yourself out now will turn into resentment in the future I fear. Hugs, Peggy > > > > > > Posting here from unbearably hot and humid SC! Guest guest
Kathi, I'm so sorry that you had to endure that. Having to deal with MS is hard enough and then having your husband leave is awful. Do you have anyone around to help you out at all? That is my greatest fear, that my husband who swears up and down now that he would never leave me now, will change his mind if I get progressively worse. You can't help but have that go through your mind. What he did to you was unfair and cruel and you certainly deserved better and still do. He should be ashamed of himself and probably is. Huge Hugs to You, Peggy > > > > > > Posting here from unbearably hot and humid SC! Yikes it is ever > > hot! > > > My in-laws have dial up and it is S L O W !!! Guest guest
Hi Kate! How long will you be out there? Darn good thing you brought the cooling vest! I'm sorry to hear about your Father-in-law. You're such a sweet DIL to care for your MIL that way. ) Challis Kate wrote: Posting here from unbearably hot and humid SC! Yikes it is ever hot! My in-laws have dial up and it is S L O W !!! Having a relaxing time here so far. I try and stay upstairs most of the time with the AC blasting! My in-laws have their AC turned off, and I don't quite know how the kids manage to sleep down here, except maybe they keep the ceiling fans off.My hub is gonna take the boys golfing today, and I thought it would be fun to have a "spa" day with the girls. We'll pick up some nail polish, facial masques, hair stuff., and do Ia head to toe spa. I'm gonna see if I can pick up a inexpensive tempur-pedic mattress pad deal thing--the bed down here is horrific. Also thought I'd offer my mother-in-law a nice relaxing massage on it, on the floor. She does so much for her husband with end-stage renal disease, he has to go for dialysis 3x/wk, plus he has a colostomy. It must be exhausting for her. Thank goodness I brought my cooling vest, and my hub strapped my recumbent bike to the roof of the van--so I've been biking back and forth to the pool--much easier than walking! I miss you all, I cannot figure out for the life of me, how to get my mail, but I can read posts on the groups site. I am feeling pretty well, except my TN is raging each and every day. Sharon and Kathi--question for you: do you think that when the TN acts up it is our MS acting up? Or is it separate? The 300 mgs of tegretol just aren't touching this pain and the attacks. I hope and pray you each are well--please stay cool, ok? Love to one and all--kate Choose the right car based on your needs. Check out Yahoo! Autos new Car Finder tool.
