hot,hi ya'll

Posting here from unbearably hot and humid SC! Yikes it is ever hot! My in-laws have dial up and it is S L O W !!! Having a relaxing time here so far. I try and stay upstairs most of the time with the AC blasting! My in-laws have their AC turned off, and I don't quite know how the kids manage to sleep down here, except maybe they keep the ceiling fans off.My hub is gonna take the boys golfing today, and I thought it would be fun to have a "spa" day with the girls. We'll pick up some nail polish, facial masques, hair stuff., and do Ia head to toe spa. I'm gonna see if I can pick up a inexpensive tempur-pedic mattress pad deal thing--the bed down here is horrific. Also thought I'd offer my mother-in-law a nice relaxing massage on it, on the floor. She does so much for her husband with end-stage renal disease, he has to go for dialysis 3x/wk, plus he has a colostomy. It must be exhausting for her. Thank goodness I brought my cooling vest, and my hub strapped my recumbent bike to the roof of the van--so I've been biking back and forth to the pool--much easier than walking! I miss you all, I cannot figure out for the life of me, how to get my mail, but I can read posts on the groups site. I am feeling pretty well, except my TN is raging each and every day. Sharon and Kathi--question for you: do you think that when the TN acts up it is our MS acting up? Or is it separate? The 300 mgs of tegretol just aren't touching this pain and the attacks. I hope and pray you each are well--please stay cool, ok? Love to one and all--kate

Kate,

Good to hear from you. Glad to hear you are having a good time. Sorry

to hear about your FIL. You're right, it must be very hard on your

MIL and thats a nice thought for you to give her a massage, I'm sure

she would love the idea.

How long are you staying there? Try to stay cool if you can.

Hugs,

Peggy

KATHI-oops, MIL and FIL= mother-in-law and father-in-law. sorry. I

get lost in some of them also.. One code I haven't been able to crack

is: kwim...what the heck is that? Anyways, we visit every yr. down

here in Myrtle Beach-my hub's folks live here; they moved here in

1993, and we visit here for 2 wks every summer. Sometimes we come

also at either Easter or Christmas. It is brutally hot here. My FIL-

father-in-law has 2 wheelchairs and a scooter. My mil said I could

use my father-in-laws scooter as he doesn't much use it anymore;'

prefers his chairs. Anyway, we went to this huge outdoor boardwalk

place with loads of shops and stores, and I was going to use my

fatherin law's scooter, but my husband said, no, you'll be fine. I

really got mad at my husband. He is really in denial about my MS. And

I want to take this opportunity to tell those spouses and family

members, and loved ones--thank you, for those of you who do not deny

the MS your loved one has. Thank you. I appreciate you for being

brave, courageous and strong enough to face up to the reality that is

MS.love to all, kate

I'm with you on this, Kate~

I am really tired of people telling me how I feel, and what I need. I think I'm the one to be the better judge of that. Tom and I had a blow out today. He was starring at me and I asked him to please stop it. He says, "Why"? I told him that it makes me feel uncomfortable. Boy....Was that ever the wrong thing to say!!

I think if you felt like you needed the scooter, then by all means, you should use it. The denial is his problem, not yours.

Dear Val~First of all--I am SO sorry about that blowout between you

and Tom; it seems from what you describe of Tom to be

uncharacteristic of

him. Kind of odd-sounding if you ask me. I think you were quite clear

in your communication, and had every right to say what you did.

I also thank you for your support, in your words about Lloyd. Why

must I have to go on and on to explain my needs. HE denies that I

need a scooter. Well, from the standpoint that I can walk, albeit

with a cane, no, I don't really need the scooter. From the viewpoint

that it is royally hot and humid down here; we were going to be doing

a lot of walking and shopping, I have MS, there is/was a scooter

available to me--and it would be a way of 'balancing' out my day--so

I could have more energy for later on...It just seems far easier for

me to ponder divorce than to EVER think this man will even ATTEMPT to

wrap his mind around MS and what all it means...I don't know about

anyone else, but--this is the only place I can vent, and rant and

rave..thanks all for being here. love to all, kate

>

> I'm with you on this, Kate~

> I am really tired of people telling me how I feel, and what I need.

I think I'm the one to be the better judge of that. Tom and I had a

blow out today. He was starring at me and I asked him to please stop

it. He says, " Why " ? I told him that it makes me feel uncomfortable.

Boy....Was that ever the wrong thing to say!!

> I think if you felt like you needed the scooter, then by all

means, you should use it. The denial is his problem, not yours.

Val sorry to hear you had an argument with Tom. I don't think your request was unreasonable at all. You are in my prayers.

Great idea on doing nice stuff for MIL.I think TN is sometimes MS acting up, but not always. How's that for a definitive answer?Sharon This email is a natural hand made product. Posting here from unbearably hot and humid SC! Yikes it is ever hot!

My in-laws have dial up and it is S L O W !!! Having a relaxing time

here so far. I try and stay upstairs most of the time with the AC

blasting! My in-laws have their AC turned off, and I don't quite know

how the kids manage to sleep down here, except maybe they keep the

ceiling fans off.

My hub is gonna take the boys golfing today, and I thought it would

be fun to have a "spa" day with the girls. We'll pick up some nail

polish, facial masques, hair stuff., and do Ia head to toe spa. I'm

gonna see if I can pick up a inexpensive tempur-pedic mattress pad

deal thing--the bed down here is horrific. Also thought I'd offer my

mother-in-law a nice relaxing massage on it, on the floor. She does

so much for her husband with end-stage renal disease, he has to go

for dialysis 3x/wk, plus he has a colostomy. It must be exhausting

for her.

Thank goodness I brought my cooling vest, and my hub strapped my

recumbent bike to the roof of the van--so I've been biking back and

forth to the pool--much easier than walking! I miss you all, I cannot

figure out for the life of me, how to get my mail, but I can read

posts on the groups site. I am feeling pretty well, except my TN is

raging each and every day. Sharon and Kathi--question for you: do you

think that when the TN acts up it is our MS acting up? Or is it

separate? The 300 mgs of tegretol just aren't touching this pain and

the attacks. I hope and pray you each are well--please stay cool, ok?

Love to one and all--kate

Kate~

It's really not that uncharacteristic of him. He has issues, and I knew this before I married him. It's like he's never really grown up. I don't know what you call it, but I have a daughter who is the same way. They laugh when things aren't funny. They cry at the drop of a hat. They think the whole world is out to get them. And God forbid if you give them the authority to make a decission. They just aren't good at making judgement calls. But, they will let you know from the jump that they know everything there is to know about everything. It must be someone elses fault that their decisive actions caused them to be where they are. Everything is taken as a personal attack on them. All I said was, "Please don't stare at me, it makes me feel uncomfortable". I was immediately given the riot act. Good grief. I'm glad this happened before he went to work. Now....to tell you the truth, I hope he doesn't come home. Okay....I feel better now. I ranted, I raved, I'll get over it. Again...

I would love to see Tom or anyone for that matter tell me I don't need to use a scooter, when I know how the heat effects me and also know that this may be a long day for me. Well, lets just say, I'm perfectly happy vacationing alone.

Just when I think Tom is getting this, it seems like he goes out of his way to prove he doesn't. Maybe Lloyd's the same way?

What kills me is, it has been so hot and muggy here today. One of the first things I said before the blowout was, "I feel so uncomfortable today. It is too muggy". After Tom blasting into me the way he did, proved to me that he wasn't even listening to me in the first place. Men, can't live with 'em....

God bless...Val

He obviously realized he made a BIG blunder. I just received a call from him. He's taking off work early and he's all lovey dovey now. But, the one thing that he didn't do, was apologize. Oh well, I shouldn't even expect that. He is a man. What was I thinking?......It appears, I wasn't.

Kate, the sad thing for me was my husband was extremely helpful and understanding about my MS when he was with me but decided he couldn't handle it so he left. He wanted me to get a scooter and he build me a ramp down to the pool and built anything I needed. He went with me to find a vehicle that I could use with a lift for my scooter...he got me all set up AND then left. Of course, it was my money and I couldn't keep up the pool by myself and basically lost "everything" after he left. The house got pretty sad looking so I didn't get what I should have when I sold it. I do know he loved me and still cares because he came to see how I was doing last summer. I'm glad he lives many states away because that keeps it simpler for me. Kathi

My mil said I could use my father-in-laws scooter as he doesn't much use it anymore;' prefers his chairs. Anyway, we went to this huge outdoor boardwalk place with loads of shops and stores, and I was going to use my fatherin law's scooter, but my husband said, no, you'll be fine. I really got mad at my husband. He is really in denial about my MS. And I want to take this opportunity to tell those spouses and family members, and loved ones--thank you, for those of you who do not deny the MS your loved one has. Thank you. I appreciate you for being brave, courageous and strong enough to face up to the reality that is MS.love to all, kate> >> > Posting here from unbearably hot and humid SC! The saddest is what this rotten disease is doing to me. I have trouble dealing with it. I have been loved and had a very interesting life....I'd like to write a book. I continue to meet the most beautiful, caring people and I still get out and go places, not exactly traveling around the world, but around this little tiny little area where I live. I find some wonderful things. Kathi
