Guest guest
I am not sure what he recommends for the Neurosarc. I know for my type, he has me on Methotrexate, Imuran 1.5 pills a day and 5mg of Prednisone every other day. He may start you out with the Methotrexate not sure. I do know he will discuss all options and treatment and meds with you on the first visit. Take a tape recorder. Sharon re: methotrexate Sharon does Dr. B order imuran and/or methotrexate for neurosarcoid. What doses does he order. I am considering going to him. It's about an 8 hour drive from where I live. Guest guest
Judy, Again, this is a little late but might be helpful. I think Dr. B. does what any good medical doctor should. He prescribes different treatments for different patients. I think it depends on how severe your sarc is and where it is affecting you. Some chemo drugs can cross the blood/brain barrier and some cannot. At first Dr. B. orderedy cytoxan for me. I was on it six months and he had ordered a second six months because I had not gotten much better. However, just at that time is when I got septicemia from a staph infection in my elbow. The cytoxan had lowered my white count so no one knew I had an infection. I was off all drugs and also tapered off my prednise. AFter that nightmare, Dr. B. and my local Doc decided on Remicade and I may start Thalidomide also since I am have a recurrence of neuro symptoms. I'll find out next Tuesday! I have read here that Dr. B. also prescribes Imuran, Methotextrate, etc. I wish I had had the chance to try them, but Dr. B. said I was too serious and had to start with the strongest drugs first. Good luck to you, and I hope that whatever meds you go on that you find some improvement. Take care,
