Guest guest
Hi Sandy: I had a CT scan of my trachea last year and it wasn't bad at all. They did inject what they call a contrast media in my arm (a small amount of dye) to help with the view. It wasn't bad at all. CT scan was like a big open circle around me that made a funny noise if I remember right and took about 20 minutes. They did several views and even took extra films because I had them look up RP and they wanted to make sure they got everything they needed. Again, it wasn't bad at all. They talk to you and let you know what to expect. It is easier to go through and quicker than an MRI. I recently had an MRI on my back and had it with an open scan which helped. I got stuck in an elevator for a few hours about a year and a half ago. Never claustraphobic but after that when I heard I would be in the MRI for up to 1 1/2 hours I suddenly started to get uptight about it. Open MRI was no problem though, so If insurance will pay, it would definately way to go. My insurance wouldn't pay for open MRI scan, but since I work in healtth care field, I have done alot of favors for other offices and office managers, one pulled some strings and MRI place accepted what insurance would pay as payment in full. When I look at things, I continually realize how much God really works in my life and helps me on a daily basis. Don't be afraid of the CT scan. Do you have any allergies to dyes that you know of? They may not even use it on you. Would take copy of Dr. T's report and also the one by Dr. (was oriental name) because I recall them saying a spiral CT may be more beneficial in providing results. Anyone have that article handy to reference? I think it was Pulminary manesfestations of Autoimmune or something like that by ? Dr. Chang, or Chung etc. (I'll try to find my copy, but since Blain moved in and out a couple times, things are in different places. Had to hide alot of my medical records etc so that he wouldn't destroy them.) I know they went and looked up RP in their reference books to find out exactly what tests to do. It really wasn't bad though and wouldn't hesitate if they want to run one again. I figure I will probably ask them to run one soon just to make sure I'm not getting damage since I am hoarse alot and lose my voice. I hope this helps alittle. Don't hesitate to ask more questions about it and I'll try to answer if I can. Take care, biglou5685@... wrote: > From: biglou5685@... > > Hi All, > > I am having a Cat Scan done tomorrow morning. > I have been having a lot of pain and swelling > in my throat. Guest guest
, The cat scan is no big thing. You are not all closed in like a Mri. I would think they are all alike. The scan I had was just a big square that passed over the area to be scanned. Don't worry...just take a nap. Take Care Jim

Guest guest
Sandy: CT scan doesn't really cover muc of your body. Looks like a big O and you slide in the middle. Mine wasn't anything like the MRI. CT scan is very thin and open. You'll be ok. Let us know how it goes. Woods wrote: > > > Praying for good results Sandy!! Guest guest
Angie: How awful, what a terrible thing to go through. Makes you wonder why they did do 2 tests with contrast media on the same day. Would kick the doc in the butt who did that. I never had a reaction to contrast media with CT scan but interestingly enough I did lose my voice within 20 min and had to take pred. Wonder if it was a reaction due to RP and mine wasn't as severe since I don't have damage such as yours. Just a thought. Am I correct in that you did ok with CT scan media and it was the PET scan media? You need to find out what was in the media contrast and write it down as an allergy. I do know that people who have allergies to shellfish sometimes have problems with IVP dyes. I sure hope you're feeling better! Guess our lives aren't exciting enough as is huh. I'm praying your results turn out good and that your feeling better. Guest guest
thank you Jesus! When the throat gets involved it REALLY hurts alot! SOmetimes I have a hard time swallowing and my voice gets weird. I am constantly coughing to try and clear it which in turn hurts the heck out of my ribs! My trach ( I won't even begin to try to spell it) is in the first stages of RP fortunately my husband (he's a retired fireman) knows how to do a tracheotomy(sp?) if he can actually do one one me is another story. nancie --- AngieCATW1@... wrote: > In a message dated 02/04/2000 10:01:23 PM Eastern > Standard Time, > susuw@... writes: > > << ot the report today and so far no damage from > the R.P.to my throat. > > Love You All, >> > Sandy great no terrific news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now > whatr about the diabetes > > Love and Gentle Hugs, > Angie > Yesterday will fade and tomorrow will take care of > itself.
