Indeed, I believe we have all " been there " . There are doctors in the

midwest in the Corin Cormet 2000 clinical trial. Specifically in Illinois.

See the following web page:

http://www.ActiveJoints.com/corindocs.html

There are patients here who have seen these doctors so if there is one, in

particular, you are interested in, post a note.

England is a veritable hotbed of resurfacing, I'll let others tell you how

he might arrange to see a doc in London, if necessary. Well, unless you are

talking about London, Ontario.

Good luck to Terry,

Yes to all the other suggestions already posted to help you. Do your

research and talk to doctors that really know about resurfacing. I f

you are goinf to be in London, get some xrays done, make copies and

send them to either/both Mr. Treacy or McMinn in Birmingham England.

They can give you an assesment of your suitability for resurfacing.

If they can see you during your stay, Birmingham is an easy train

ride from London.

I was resurfaced on March 28th by Field at St. 's

Hospital at Cheam, Surrey, just south of London. I was and remain

completely satisfied with the entire experience. Mr. Field has a

website which sets out the necessary preliminary information and X-

ray particulars for evaluation, and this is probably the most

efficient way to get the ball rolling. It's

www.hipandkneesurgeon.co.uk. If you're from outside the UK, this

excellent facility is about equidistant(35 minute taxi ride) from

Heathrow and Gatwick. Best wishes-- Gord

I would add that Mr McMinn does monthly clinics in London (Harley

St). There is also an X-Ray facility there.

There are other BHR surgeons in London. Muirhead-Allwood comes

to mind.

Hello ,

Please tell me exactly what you have been able to do and what you can do now.

I am having simultaneous bilateral on July 2 in Belgium with Dr. DeSmet and I

am curious to hear the different stories. As you know there are not that many

bilateral experiences to learn from.

Thanks for any feedback.

Hi Glenn,

I had bilateral hip resurfacing on 6/5/02 by Mr Singer in Perth

Scotland. Excellent man and great post-op care. I'm finding the post-op

advice a bit confusing - some say minimal weight-bearing for the first 6

weeks, others seem to weight-bear as soon as they feel comfortable without

support of sticks e.g. around 4 weeks. What advice did you receive?

hoping for good news...

The day I posted this message I had also emailed Batts w/Corin

about clinical trials. He responded to me right away with his phone

number to call for more info. I gave Terry his number. told

him he was meeting with Dr. Stachniw the next very day and to FED EX

his x-rays to see if he was a candidate for resurfacing which Terry

did. If Terry is a candidate, he may be able to participate in the

trial possibly as early as next month! Talk about timing. Cross

your fingers and thanks for all of your responses!

Dr. Gross's website and animation is very interesting and well done, but I

believe the removal of the ball is excessive on the animation. In most

resurfacings, a hole is drilled on top of the ball- thus preserving the ball.

The cap covers the ball. At least that's what my x-rays seem to show on my two

hips.

Hi,

Ditto my xray.......... and I thought that was the whole thing about a

BHR...........it keeps the femur head......

The resurfacing components are made of Cobalt-Chrome. Titanium, which is

used in some THR stems for its relative flexibility, is too soft for use on

articulating surfaces. THR heads are made of cobalt-chrome or ceramic.

Acetabular side is cementless. Except for some test products in limited

use, all resurfacings are cemented on the femoral side.

Hello

I am new to this group; however, not too new to the surgery. I had open RNY on

Oct. 8, 2002. I weighed approx. 277 and am down to 154.

3 weeks ago I had to have a second surgery. I had 2 hernias fixed and also had

to have my gall bladder out. The gall bladder was fine during original surgery.

At first I was very frustrated and thought why did I ever do this? But am now

back on track. the nice thing was the surgeon was able to use the original

incision line so no new scars. I am still pretty swollen and sore and will have

to build back up to exercising etc.

I will continue to believe that the gastric bypass was the best gift I ever gave

myself and my family no matter how many roadblocks I run into. Hopefully there

won't be too many more.

Thanks for including me in your group and if anyone ever has questions etc.

please feel free to ask.

n

PS I am in Colorado.

I have had 2 children and weighed out at about 350lbs at full term and I wish

with all my heart after 2 c-sections and almost losing one baby that I

would've waited 'til after I had

surgery to have my babies. I think I would've enjoyed being pregnant alot

more!

I've heard of other women being pregnant and they do just fine. I'm sure the

doctors know how to make sure the baby gets all the nutrition it needs. I

will be alot healthier without all the fat in the way of it growing! I plan on

having one more eventually. Well, maybe. LOL!

I stayed for 3 days. Shoot in 2 weeks I was back at the gym. 3 days seems

more realistic. Barring no complications.

New to Group

Hi everyone, my name is and I live in Fort Lauderdale,

Florida. I had Lap RNY on 8/21/03, so I'm a newbie still. So far I've

lost about 20 pounds. I have my first post op appt next week so I'll

know the exact number by then.

Overall this experience has been good so far. The first few days

afterwards were not too pleasant but I paid close attention to

doctors orders and I was released from the hospital on the fourth

day. I was thrilled to go home and each day feel better and better.

I'm still on protein shakes and liquids for the most part. I look

forward to different flavors again next week when I go to soft

solids.

It's great to read everyone's posts in here and I look forward to

learning alot from those of you that have had this procedure done

longer.

A new family member,
