Great news on the Enbrel but who figured his dose on the methadone? I

hope he doesn't have to be on such a painkiller too long and Enbrel

works for him. Good luck.

People that use pain medicine to relieve pain do not get addicted to them.

It is the people that take them that don't need them. that can become

addicted. For many years I suffered with pain because I was afraid of

addiction. Alcoholism is on my father's side, and I worried that I could

become addicted to pain meds.

Pain meds should be treated just like any other necessary medicine. I'll

send in some sites that explain pain treatment and addiction.

I'm happy that Jake is doing so well.

Quite a scare with though! I think you and your family have had quite

Thank you a for telling me this. It makes me feel better about trying

another pain med. I can't stand seeing him hurt but i sure can't handle what

i watched him go through yesterday. Well he slept through most of it, it was

the rest of us having heart attacks over it.

I just gave jesse his first Enbrel injection and he said wow mom you didn't

hurt me at all and he was so happy that it didn't sting like the methotrexate

did when he had that in injections.Any way he said the needle size that comes

in the kit feels fine and i told him no waiting just close your eyes and i do

it. He did great. he didn't even bleed but he wanted a band aid any way so i

gave him one. I am so happy that it was a good experience cause he was so

nervous. I am also proud that i didn't hurt him. I must be getting better at

this.

just want you and everyone to know that it went great. Thanks ,

Barb,

First of all you have to be a special person cause my moms name is Barbara

too. Yes jesse is amazing most of the time. Some days he acts like a brat but

i don't know a child that doesn't. LOL.

It has felt like we have gone back to square one a few times. turned 11

in march and is the second oldest of five boys.He is very smart and very

cute. He has tow head blonde hair, Blue-gray eyes, freckles and the biggest

dimples in town.

He is only 49 inches tall and weighs 481/2 pounds. He is very tiny but tries

to be the biggest kid on the block.

One day is gonna be there for all the kids that need someone to look up

to. he is pretty special. I hope that you can find the right treatment for

you. I am hoping the Enbrel will be just what jesse needs.

Take care will thinking about you,

Today has been a day for the 2 youngest ones to fight all day. They fight but

when it comes to doing things that are wrong they do it together. Its been a

long day. If i remember correctly its a full moon. It seems my kids react to

full moons. The older kids have been good though.

I will have to scan a good picture of to send to all of you so you know

just who he is. He is one of those kids that steals a persons heart.

during one of my ear surgeries they removed my brain by accident. LOL!

Oh,the joys of sibling rivalry! you must see some of that.

Try to think of it like diabetes. Does a diabetic get addicted to insulin?

Yes, technically, but it is not a mental addiction, it is a necessity for

life. People that take pain meds for recreation are ones that become

addicted. Please talk to the doctor about your concerns. After I finally

fessed up to my doctor about fear of addiction, he verified what others on

the list told me. I really believe I developed fibromyalgia from always

being in pain. I would have to be on the verge of tears before I took pain

meds, thinking I would become an addict.

I am so happy that he got his Enbrel shot and it wasn't anything unpleasant.

That is such good news, but will be better news if it helps him. If it

controls the RA, his need for pain meds may be decreased.

You did a good job mom! I hope you all have a happy Easter.

Hi, ,

I am so very happy that was able to start the Enbrel today, and

congratulations to you on doing such a fine job!! and all of your

family have become very special to all of us, and I am sure that

can teach us a lot. He is a very brave young man, and you have every

right to be proud of him, as well as of all your children. It is so hard

to watch a child in pain.

Hang in there, !! We are all behind you.

Hugs,

Joan

Thank you Sandy i sure hope i am not like my father was. After he died my mom

was to over protective that she smothered me until i was 15 and then i rebel

and ran away from home and all kinds of things. I never did get into drugs or

lots of drinking then and i was way to shy and afraid to ever be involved

with a guy to seriously until i was 17 and in a foster home with a wonderful

family. i am very thankful for that experince because with out it i don't

think that i would be the way i am now. I understand how things are with my

kids and try not to pry much into their " privacy " but they feel close enough

to me to talk and well i usually can tell when they are up to somethings

thats not on the level.I try not to be over protective and smothering but

when they screw up they are punished but not harshly. If we can talk about it

and they accept their punishment then its much easier. The only one that has

to argue with me is but thats his age but he takes his punishment like

a man even if he doesn't agree with it. My mom always makes me know that i am

doing a good job and she always tells me that my grandparents always say how

good my kids are. they see my kids maybe once every 5 years and they see my

youngest cousin daily and my kids always hug them and kiss them and my cousin

who is the same age as jesse barely even talks to them. so they think my kids

are caring and sensitive children. they say that with everything that we have

gone through my kids show lots of love to people. That makes me feel good and

very proud of my boys.

Thank you, shelly

Well, our relationship was rocky for many years. It was only the last 5

years he was alive that we were able to make our amends ~ and he was the one

who initiated the mending, which I am so thankful for.

I cannot imagine what you must have gone through!!! How horrible!!! My

fiancee' has horror stories regarding his father and growing up years that

would make your hair stand up on the back of your neck!! I just cannot

comphrehend fully the extent that some children suffer through with their

parents.

At any rate, you sound like you are an excellent parent!!!

Of course I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, ! Good luck. I've had my

share of dental nightmares. In fact, I was just at the endodontist

yesterday. I think the anxiety before the appointment is worse than the

procedure sometimes.

Sounds like the oral surgeon is very kind. You won't have to worry. Tooth

extraction is a routine procedure these days. I'm sure they'll take very

good care of you.

Let us know how it all went when you have the chance.

Say, !

That's interesting about your boys. Of course, you don't owe anyone an

explanation about your choice to circumcise or not. Certainly sometimes it

is advisable to circumcise. I had a question about and his redness and

itchiness. Does he like a lot of soap in his water or bubble baths? If so,

that could be contributing to his problem. Girls and uncircumcised boys have

to be careful about too much soap in the water.

Glad you had a good time in Vermont. Hope your cousin has great success with

his CD. Exciting!

Oh ,

this year has been pretty good so far. started school yesterday and

seems to be enjoying it. The school seems to be dealing with him much better.

He has a very nice young teacher that he seems to like.

Don't worry i will keep you all informed of how he is doing. He is as much a

part of most of you now as well as me.

Yes thank god no one got hurt from the lighting. We actually have a storm

coming in now so iam trying to answer my emails before the storm comes.

take care,

You really have had your share of excitement this year, ! Car

accidents, lightning strikes, emergency room trips, oral surgery. Did I

leave anything out? I'm so happy that you and the kids are OK and that the

damage to your home was minimal considering the possibilities.

Thanks for the notes about 's progress with Enbrel. That is always a

bright spot in my day when I read about his feeling better.

Holly,

You live in a country that has always been a place where me and my oldest son

would love to visit. He loves to watch the Crocidle Hunter on tv. robert my

oldest son may someday be on tv doing just what the croc hunter does. He

loves that stuff. He has even gotten by a pygmy rattle snake 2 years ago and

still loves to mess with thing like that even though he almost lost his hand

from it and spent a week in the hospital and now deals with bad allergies due

to the bite. ever since he as little he loved that stuff. now at least he is

into skateboarding so i don't have worry about him getting bit by a posionous

reptile just worry about him breaking a few bones in his arm or leg or hip

since thats where he lands most of the time. I look at this way, no drugs or

guns so thats the way i will keep it. rather deal with a few broken bones or

bites then drugs or guns.

take care,

shelly

I'm sorry but I don't know very much at all about crocodiles. Despite

the fact that the movie Crocodile Dundee was very popular, I think

most Australians have had little to no real life experience with

them. Most Aussies live in the city areas.

I've seen them in the zoo but that's about it. Mind you, up in the

north of my state (western australia) I know there are probably

lots...and also I think the Northern Territory probably has them

there...so if you get the chance to come to Australia, they'd be the

places to go.

I'm just flicking through a Tourism Australia book I have....in

Darwin there's a place called East Alligator River that has salt

water crocodiles..oh look, there's another place called South

Alligator River..hehe terribly original names, aren't they! Yeahh I

think the Northern Territory is the way to go..their TV ad campaign

said, " you'll never never know, if you never never go " (they call it

the Never Never too I think...)... Also there is apparently a " Darwin

Crocodile Farm " which is 40 kilometres south of Darwin and " houses

over 1000 salt water and fresh water crocodiles, some up to four

metres in length. " That sounds like the place to go!

I hope your son gets to come to Australia. It's a great place, I'm

sure he'd have a wonderful time. He could take some type of four

wheel drive trip around and he'd have a ball!

Holly,

i do believe that the croc hunter is named Steve Darwin and his wife. The do

where to go when he makes it your country. He will get a kick out of it.

Hi !

I do that too when I get tired. I get very goofy and can't stop talking. Then

when I get past that, I get grumpy!

Do you have any scanned pics of your boys you could share? I would love to

see what looks like. =)

I think that is great that is thinking about his schooling! Maybe he

will be the doctor that comes up with the cure! =) Heck, maybe all 5 will go

into business together and work their fannies off looking for a cure!

wouldn't that be nice but i can honestly say robert isn't medical material.

he is into animals. his is always watching the discovery channel and animal

planet channels. I expect him to be one of those people that either studies

rare animals or be like the croc hunter.

jake is always taking things apart and trying to put them back together. he

has more tools then my boyfriend does. lol. let me tell you a hardware store

is like heaven to jake. you should see his face when he walks into one.

the 2 younger ones haven't let on what they would like to be yet. iam sure

they will.

yes i have one group of pics. scanned of the boys but you can't see jesse

very well. i just got some new ones from justins birthday in june. i will get

jason to scan them for me and i will send them to you. there is a great one

of jesse. i caught him by surprise. lol. he was mad.
