Dennis, is there any connection between dental health

and hcv?

I lived in a house for a couple of years where we had

a fireplace and being surrounded by farm land, the

farmer told us we could cut all the dead wood we

wanted, he was intending to turn that acreage to

pasture eventually. I really enjoyed it. I know a wood

stove is much more efficient for heat, but we managed

to keep the furnace off through December which is

quite a feat up here. My partner worked nights and I

worked days, so we could keep it going pretty good.

I know I got kind of worn out too. I had to go lay

down for 5 minutes before I could continue to type.

Seriously though, Dennis, I admire your energy. Maybe

I need to push myself a little harder, I know exercise

actually increases your energy, but its hard to get

the energy to start. -dz-

My son was born in Denver and is a Broncos fan. They

Sugar Maple, Red Maple, Red & White Oak, and Birch mostly. But once in a

while I get a little Locust and Hickory. I'm now splitting up a big White

Ash we had to cut down at work " the wood a king warms his feet by " - I

don't know why they say that but it splits and burns really nice. I do a

little Elm but it is hard splitting and doesn't give the heat the others do.

I also go to a friend's saw mill (water powered) and get a pickup truck of

dry Pine slabs for spring and fall when I just want a quick fire to take the

chill off. Oh well, you asked.

You got that right Dave. Actually mine wasn't too bad last year. I have a

fear of dentists though, and it goes back to when I was a boy in a small

town. The dentist didn't like to use needles so I suffered the old SLOW

drilling with no pain block. I swear there must be finger holes under the

arms of his chair. I later found out he previously worked as a dentist in a

PRISON! Maybe that's how my folks got back at Dennis The Menace! :-)

I don't think so Dave but others have said yes. I cannot attribute my

dental problems to HCV.

A lot of us up here in the north east use wood stoves to ease the oil bill.

It is a nice friendly heat that is very rewarding. Wood is a renewable

resource - coal, oil, and gas are not. One must be sensible though and not

burn green, damp, or pitchy wood which creates soot & creosote buildup. I

clean my chimney at least once a year. I check it more often by pulling the

pipe out of the chimney (when there is no fire going :-) ) and holding a

mirror inside - you can see the inside very well (this is in the day time of

course).

Sounds like a nice place you had.

My wife has seen the first half of 100's of movies...

TV and a couch is an instant recipe for sleep. I guess

its not as easy to fall asleep in my chair (although I

have done it) -dz-

You got it! My son has just been put on an inhaler. He

had asthma as a baby and it went away, but it's back.

He's not quite 12 now. I had trouble with a heart

murmer when I was a kid, but it seems to have

straigtened itself out. Mine would skip " half a beat " ,

I guess the valves didn't always close tight. I'll be

praying for you, it seems like you have enough on your

plate already! -dz-

I had a great dentist when I was a kid. He retired,

though and my first wisdom tooth the new dentist did a

real hack job on it. It took him well over an hour to

pull it, he eventually sawed it into 4 pieces and

pulled each one out separately. The novacaine was long

since worn off. I remember him backing away and I see

my blood all over his smock. He then asked his

assistant if she would like to " try this one " and she

put the stitches in. I had to come back the next day

and have it re-stitched. As you can imagine it was

still very tender. He sent me a bill once and I

ignored it and I never heard from him again. It took

me a while to get back to regular dental visits and I

suppose I'm paying the price now. Didn't know I had

that much to say, I guess I opened up an old wound.

I think that coal and oil ARE renewable, it's just

that it takes a few million years and we've burnt most

of it up in the last 100 years. A friend of mine lived

in a house 100 miles north of here (or so) and the

only source of heat they had was the fireplace. One

day the warmest they could get the house was 32

degrees. They replaced the fireplace with a wood

burning stove and kept the place as warm as they

wanted it. There's just something enjoyable about wood

heat. -dz-

Bummer!

On board ship I had a dentist that was recovering from some kind of fracture

and he would get tired and rest his arm on my shoulder. One time the drill

sped up right near my temple. I was somewhat nervous after that. He also

forgot to fill a cavity he had drilled out. Sick bay can be scary on board

ship - that's where a lot of on the job training happens.

Better subject -

The trees are just beginning to show some color here. I think there may be

less of a show this year due to dry fall conditions. We're going up on a

small mountain today. It is cold but clear and sunny. Should be nice.

I sure am glad that my wood comes in bags. Only have to lift it from the

store to the car, from the car to the smoker.
