Guest guest
It depends on quality of sleep and many other factors. Last night I got 9 good hours of sleep, a miracle for me. I've added melatonin to my many suppliments and it may be helping. This morning I had no soreness or stiffness but thats rare even w/Lyrica. But the day usually gets better regardless of my waking condition. The weather plays it's part as well. Guest guest
Good for you sweetie! MeIatonin is a great regulator of the sleep cycle. At least for me. I was awakend this morning by the puppy needing out {hubby would not get up and let her out}, then he let my cat outside again for the 2nd time in a week, and I had to go out and chase him inside. {My cats are indoors only} Tommy runs outside when he opens the door. Good thing I have a Border Collie puppy. She herds him right inside, lol. I tell her to go get him in and she does. Can you see my at 5am, running around with my hair a mess, trying to catch a cat??. Not a pretty site, lol. Honeycutt wrote: Honeycutt wrote: It depends on quality of sleep and many other factors. Last night I got 9 good hours of sleep, a miracle for me. Guest guest
Hi , I sent my question because I had read that a symptom was stiffness in the morning and a lot of people in the group complain about stiffness and pain in the morning. When I was diagnosed with fibro, the doctor said " Do you feel stiff and sore when you get up in the morning? " I said " No, that is the best that I feel all day. " He didn't say anything. I have had a couple of replies that have said they felt pretty good when they got up in the morning. So, you haven't been diagnosed. What kind of doctor did you go to? Have you seen a pain specialist? Sometimes pain specialists are in pain clinics. My pain clinic is in one of my local hospitals. They really know a lot about fibro. Have you been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome? Sometimes FMG and CFS go hand in hand. I know what you mean about doctors. Sometimes even the nice ones are insulting. The doctor that told you it only affects women 45 and up was absolutely wrong. But there are a lot of doctors that do not understand fibromyalgia at all. You just have to persevere and keep trying till you find the right one. Thanks for answering my question. Hope to hear from you. Love, Annie > > > I have a question. Guest guest
I like the majority, feel like I have been hit by a truck and beat with a board for the first hour or so after getting up. It does not matter if I slept 8 or 9 hours or 3 hours. It almost makes me dread going to sleep, because I know when I get up I will feel like a pile of crap. I am stiff everywhere, sore, and have NO energy what so ever. On some days, that first hour also comes with numbness and tingling in my fingers.... sometimes so bad you could chop one of my fingers off and i would not feel it.... sick and tired of being sick and tired. Guest guest
Before Go on, not one person has the same thing happen to them, ok. I was doing good.then I started to having lots of pain in my right knee every day. Then every winter it would get worst. There were days like you get up feeling like I can do any thing and get it done. but then it got worst. Now I look back at all that has going on with me it all adds up to have the fibro for years but it had to got worst for us to see that I had it. I was told by a friend who had fibro that I had it. but I wainted for the Doctors to say I had it. But us fibro people do know when a person they see has this or not, Rox. Guest guest
Anne, I usually feel pretty good in the mornings if I manage to get enough sleep. It is usually mid afternoon that I really start hurting and getting tired and by the time I get off work at 6 pm I am just exhausted. By 8 pm I usually hit that wall where I just feel like I just can not do anything else physically or mentally. N.
Guest guest
Like a lot of us, I wake up feeling horrible. My entire body feels " bruised. " I have started setting my alarm for 5:00 AM to get up and take my first round of meds. Then I go back to bed --I reset the alarm for 7:00 AM and then use the snooze button until I can get up. I have to be at work every morning at 9:30, so I don't get much snoozing. Usually by 8:15 or so, I can at least move a little --but only because of the extra hot shower. Most people couldn't stand to have water that hot hit their neck or back! Oh well...some days it works, others it doesn't! Barb --------------------------------- Looking for a deal? Guest guest
Hi Claudette, Look at it this way, your body doesn't spend a while in the morning fooling you into thinking that the plague is gone. Then pain will sneak up behind you and hit like a sledge hammer. I guess I should be happy that I have that reprieve every morning. Just another example of how we are all the same and all different. Have a great evening. Love, Annie > I have a question. I had undiagnosed Fibromyalgia for a long time. > It slowly progressed over the years which I suspect it does for most > people. Guest guest
In the morning, I feel like I have laid on the highway and been run over by many large trucks! Rain, cold and dampness are very hard for me and it has been raining here for 3 days. Cold tonight. Taking a hot bath in the morning is helpful for about 6 hours, then it is the same hell over again. I saw my neurologist today and it turns out that I misunderstood the directions for the Lyrica, so I am trying another sample bottle. I told the doctor that I gained about 8 pounds since starting it and she did not think it was a big deal. I am hungry all the time, and it is very annoying. Does anyone know if this side effect will go away? Kris ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Guest guest
, Only one other person has given me that answer. It makes me feel less like a freak. Although I know that it doesn't really matter, we still have fibro. It's not like I wake up looking normal and then turn into the wolf man. No one can see the difference in my case, it is all inside. I do try to take advantage of it and schedule appointments and physical therapy as early as possible. Well, let's try to embrace the morning hours. Love, Annie I have a question. Guest guest
, Welcome to the group. You did a fine job with your post. Unfortunately, most of the people that replied feel about the way you do in the morning. I have only had two people say that they feel the best when they get up in the morning. I know you will find a lot of people in this group who will be able to help you in one way or another to learn some coping skills. I know I have. Hope you have a peaceful and sleep filled night. Guest guest
Hey Drebra, Amen to that! I was in bed last night because I needed to lay down and my daughter's friend stopped by. When her friend left she shut the door too hard and a ber bottle that somehow was opened and left out fell and broke on the floor. She had gotten hurt at work and didn't tell me. She wanted me to come down stairs to clean it up but I was having problems even rolling over. She was crying but cleaned it up. This morning I took her to the walk in . The drs in the practice take turns doing the walk ins. Today was my drs turn. She just mulled muscles. He is having her rest until she goes back to work on Wed. She is tking rx strength anaprox and lydoderm patches. If she needs a note we just have to call and he will give her one. Her dr is leaving the practise. She met the new dr who was learning the new computer system from my dr. She decided she wants to switch because the new dr doesn't have a sence of humor. I guess tomarrow I'll have to call for her. Hopefully she will go to her ged classes tomarrow. Now about me, the muscle fatigue isn't any better and is getting worse. I can't wait until we can get me some more lyrica. It seems to help with it. I see that a big problem with the fibro is related to the nervous system. In my family it seems many of the chronic " illnesses " are related to the nervous system. Between my siblings, children, nephews and grand parents, we have add, adhd, autism, vertigo, migraines, turettes, narcalepcy, and some other things I can't remember. Guest guest
Hi Debra, I hate hearing that you even think about it the night before. If only you were like me. It's like I don't remember that I am going to have that counterfeit feeling of wellness when I get up in the morning. I don't forget that I have fibro every morning, but some mornings I hope that this time the fibro is gone. It helps to be older and have fibro fog constantly. If you find out anything that helps the numbness and tingling in the fingers, please let me know. Mine are that way almost constantly. It really affects my typing, brushing my teeth, etc. Of course, I also have arthritis in my hands, so I am constantly dropping things. I hope we both find that miracle pill and go back to being the delightful people we used to be. Love, Annie > I have a question. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I guess we are lucky to have a break from pain no matter when it is. I know I can only believe that until the afternoon comes and my pain starts to peak. I am so glad to have people like you to help me feel normal--LOL. I know I'm really not, but it's fun to feel that way. Hope you have a good evening. Guest guest
, That sounds so much like me before I had to quit work. I didn't quit because of my Fibro, I could have probably lasted a while longer, but I have severe arthritis in my hands with numbness and tingling in some of my fingers. I can no longer type at the speed that I needed to be able to stay at my job. Hope you get lots of sleep tonight. Guest guest
Barb, I am so sorry you hurt in the morning but...what a great example of stepping up to the plate and figuring out a way to manage your pain. I am so proud. I know what you mean about hot water. Some days it seems like I can't get it hot enough. Right before I had to quit work last winter, I got up with an awful backache. The kind that makes you walk bent over. I heated up a back hot pack in the microwave and put it on before I went to work. It felt so good. My back got better and it cooled off, so I took it off. Then I noticed my back felt kind of wet. I had heated the hot pack so hot that I blistered my back. I had to go to the doctor. She gave me a perscription for silvadene cream. My husband had to put it on for me every night and every morning. To this day, every time he sees me heating up a hot pack, he starts instructing me in the art of moderation. I know, believe me, I know. Have a great, pain free night. Love, Annie > > Like a lot of us, I wake up feeling horrible. > > Barb > > > --------------------------------- > Looking for a deal? Guest guest
Hi Annie, Yes thats true. Wow, I don't know what's worse then, Like you say, its different for everybody. I think we can all agree that fibro is a hugely misunderstood disease and a huge pain in the petutie. but mostly everywhere else. lol. C missle49 wrote: Hi Claudette, Look at it this way, your body doesn't spend a while in the morning fooling you into thinking that the plague is gone. Guest guest
I wake up feeling sore all over and most mornings one or both of my hands are numb and tingling. When I finally manage to drag myself out of bed, I can hardly walk. I am sure this is also partly because of the arthritis in my knees. My hands are very stiff so my fingers don't work too well, especially if they are still numb. My head usually feels foggy too unless I was lucky enough to actually get some restfull sleep - a rare occassion for me. Guest guest
Second that. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by: " debra van ness " ladybug75901@... ladybug75901 Mon Oct 1, 2007 6:31 am (PST) I, like the majority, feel like I have been hit by a truck and beat with a board for the first hour or so after getting up. It does not matter if I slept 8 or 9 hours or 3 hours .... when I get up I will feel like a pile of crap. I am stiff everywhere, sore, and have NO energy whatsoever. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- but it's a balancing act because this is true too: Re: How Do You Feel When You Get Up In The Morning? Posted by: " Mystic " mystic_102164@... mystic_102164 Mon Oct 1, 2007 9:20 am (PST) I usually feel pretty good in the mornings if I manage to get enough sleep. It is usually mid afternoon that I really start hurting and getting tired and by the time I get off work at 6 pm I am just exhausted. By 8 pm I usually hit that wall where I just feel like I just can not do anything else physically or mentally. N. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So I have this window of functionality - some days narrower than others. Bet I am not the only one juggling and trying to balance! How I manage depends a lot on what I have to do that day or even the next. Brain work - best not done until the fog clears. hahaha. That also means that if I have something morning that needing mental clarity, I cannot afford to let myself overdo the day before. Not having children at home or full time job gives me more flexibility. Living by myself means I have to pay attention, think ahead and not ignore any warning signs because no one is here to help me if/when I crash. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vaile Blogging from Mountainair NM at Mountainair Arts
Guest guest
Hi Annie, Like most of us, I've always complained that I feel like I've been hit by a truck each morning. Unfortunately, that feeling doesn't go away all day, but becomes more tolerable as the day goes by. It's nice you feel good in the morning. Count it as a blessing. I don't feel like moving much in the morning, and rarely even think about or feel like stretching. Are you certain the pain in your hip and leg isn't sciatica?
