Hi Toni,Our DAN, Dr. Neubrander, gave us this information. Dr. N has many, many, years of research regarding the mutation under his belt, and is considered the "industry" guru on MB12. Sent from my iPhone

,I am also interested in your percentage. I am not doubting it :-) but I once told someone 40% and then went looking for something to back me up (as this number was quoted from my fertility doctor) and the best I could find was 20%. Then I started to wonder if the 40% was "40% of infertility patients" and not "40% of world population"... 60% is the highest I have heard, and perhaps it is "60% of people with autism" but honestly, I don't know and would love some research to refer to in order to help support this.

It's important to me because already, just at the tip of biomedical treatment, I am getting friends who think I've gone off the deep end because I think autism can be treated :-( I don't really care what they as just people think, I care because these people have children with autism too and I want to help THEM. So any persuasion in the form of respected info is awesome! :-)

If I have it on two genes, than my mother obviously has a mutation too.She has begun taking a lot of the same supplemets I do,and has had a lot of the same cerebrovascular and neurological symptoms I do,when I don't take them. She also has a history of "metabolic infarction"

60% of the population have the MTHFR mutation (we have it here, too.)

There are four different forms of Folinic Acid: plain folic acid, folinic acid, FolaPro (from Metagenics), and leucovorin (prescription folinic acid.)

Each type works slightly differently in methylation metabolism. Some cause hyperactivity, so if your child gets hyper on one type, try another. The dosing is the same.

We all have the MTHFR mutation too (and I was taking folic thru 3 pregnancies, who knew the difference back then?). We use vrp.com's Active Folate - 800mcg per capsule and they are tiny caps. They also have a bit of calcium folinate in their Klaire B-complex. A lot of standard B-complex vitamins just use folic acid...

My 3 yr old had b 12 for a month and the stims came back really strong , teeth grinding, side gazing and loss of eye contact. his speech however improved. Not sure if this is a side effect I think it is and will stop b12.

Is that 60% one one gene only, what about on two genes?

My 3 yr old had b 12 for a month and the stims came back really strong , teeth grinding, side gazing and loss of eye contact. his speech however improved. Not sure if this is a side effect I think it is and will stop b12.

Is that 60% one one gene only, what about on two genes?

I would switch to 5mthf or folapro if I were you. It's broken down even further than folinic acid.

My DAN! had no idea about what it was. What does he know about mothers and children having similare sets of problems ? Does he think it's "autism",or part of another genetic syndrome, that might include "features of autism"? Does he blame vaccines ?

Hi Toni,

Our DAN, Dr. Neubrander, gave us this information. Dr. N has many, many, years of research regarding the mutation under his belt, and is considered the "industry" guru on MB12.

So any persuasion in the form of respected info is awesome! :-)

Hi Sandy. The tricky part is there really is no useful way to test whether a child will do well on MB12. The best test would be to try it, and let your child's response be the "lab test."Usually though, when you see a regression, with an improvement, it indicates good news (your child will probably benefit from the supplement.)My son was a big side gazer and had poor eye contact. We used Dr. Megson's protocol for that. (I'll attach info. about her protocol below.) Hi Sandy. (I'll attach info. about her protocol below.) Basically it's CLO & Bethanecol.1.) http://www.megson.com/readings/MedicalHypothesis.pdf2.) http://www.autism.com/ARI/newsletter/141/page6.pdfBest,From: Sandy K To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Mon, April 19, 2010 1:52:20 PMSubject: Re: Re:

Folic Acid or Folinic Acid

My 3 yr old had b 12 for a month and the stims came back really strong , teeth grinding, side gazing and loss of eye contact. his speech however improved. Not sure if this is a side effect I think it is and will stop b12.

Is that 60% one one gene only, what about on two genes?

Best,

We all have the MTHFR mutation too (and I was taking folic thru 3 pregnancies, who knew the difference back then?). We use vrp.com's Active Folate - 800mcg per capsule and they are tiny caps. They also have a bit of calcium folinate in their Klaire B-complex. A lot of standard B-complex vitamins just use folic acid...
