Never have I ever been charged for a test kit....Tami-Mom to Paigg, andria,Mackenzee(ADHD) and Sawyrr(ASD) Healing is Possible-Shooting for the *****STARS*****

To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Thu, April 1, 2010 1:25:23 AMSubject: Are all DAN! docs charging for test kits?

I was wondering if anyone started to get charged for test kits from their DAN! doctors. Here is a response to a bill I had questioned for a "One Test" kit which cost 35.00 via UPS from Florida. "I spoke with XX, our bookkeeper regarding the $35.00 shipping and handling fee- was for the Genova One Test Kit that was shipped out to you"

Dr Berger used to charge us upfront as well as the cost of the test. Really screwed up insurance. ( we were only there 6 months abs switched to ICDRC. )

Ugh. Keri, you used Dr. Berger and left? We are getting ready to fax our records over and schedule appt(s) with him. :-( He is close for us so we were hoping to be happy there! How long ago was this? I called and they said they would work with my kids' in-network provider (as long as he will work with them) to place orders so insurance will cover.

If I call back and ask them, how should I word the question? Thanks in advance for your help!

Dr Berger was very good. He was in Miami at the time andcwe live in vero beach. Melbourne was much closer and dr. Bradstreet was more well known. This was back in 2001/2002. I'm not sure why charges upfront. Just make sure you keep receipts paid when you try and get reimbursement. The office should be sending out the samples then I would think. What test is in question? I've never been to any DAN doc so I don't even know what to ask about charging for " Test Kits. " :-) I don't know what tests to ask for except I am going to mention that I have the MTHFR mutation and that one of the girls on the list here thinks my daughter sounds like PANDAS.

Genova shipps test kits right from their office, sounds like another one of the

Ours started to charge us $40 for two kits at our first visit but I think the

look I gave them made them back off. Especially since we had to wait hours to be

seen. Today we went for a blood draw though and they had told me about a $20 lab

fee but it turned out to be $90! $45 for the nurse, $25 for the blood draw, and

$20 to pack up and ship the labs.

For the person who asked about the charge for the labs- is this for  like a urine test to be done at home or a blood draw that requires nurses to draw and process the results? Of course there would be a charge for the latter.  Our last blood draw cost $68.  $56  for phlebotomy by nurse and another $12 for specimen handling and processing. I then had to pay the test/ lab charge (like for a packed red blood cell) directly to the lab by credit card or submit to insurance. Keri
