Guest guest
That's way too much DMSA. Risks include redistribution of toxins rather than chelation of them. Don't do it. If you want to check urine, do it as part of a 3-day and night low dose round, but be aware that it takes a while to get mercury to start dumping, as other toxins generally chelate out first. S S <tt> I just joined, and I haven't had a chance to read much yet, but I think <BR> I have at least gotten the picture on low and frequent dosing of <BR> chelators. I am confused because my DAN! nutritionist has recommended <BR> that instead of doing a hair test for metals, we do a DMSA challenge <BR> with one dose at betime, 500 mg., and take urine for DDI UTM test in <BR> the morning. Am I wrong, or is the ALOT of DMSA? Why would he <BR> recommend this? What are the risks?<BR> <BR> Thanks so much,<BR> Kim<BR> <BR> <BR> </tt> <!-- |**|begin egp html banner|**| --> <br><br> <tt> =======================================================<BR>
Guest guest
Dose is WAY too high even for an adult (I use 100 mg and worked up to that) and too infrequent. Highly likely to cause redistribution rather than actual chelation. S S <tt> Hi:<BR> <BR> Can someone point me to a part of the files or just remind me why the <BR> DMSA challenge test our DAN recommended (she would challenge with oral <BR> and then do transdermal for treatment if we wanted) is not necessarily <BR> a good idea? My daughter is 3yrs9months, 40 pounds and the dose <BR> recommended is 300mg.<BR> <BR> Thanks,<BR> Josie<BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> </tt> <!-- |**|begin egp html banner|**| --> <br><br> <tt> =======================================================<BR>

A moderator from another site told me not to do a 500mg x 2 doses, one dose then wait three days for the other.I went ahead, and had terrible symptoms after 2nd dose! Took about 7 days to clear out! You would think my dr. would at least have taken a history on me first!
Guest guest
A 300 mg dose is high even for an adult. This would be at least torture and at worst dangerous for a 3 year old, and a hair test is much more informative. It's also remotely possible she wouldn't excrete anything on the urine test (sometimes happens with a toxic person), and then the doctor would tell you she is not even toxic. -- > > Hi: > > Can someone point me to a part of the files or just remind me why the > DMSA challenge test our DAN recommended (she would challenge with oral > and then do transdermal for treatment if we wanted) is not necessarily > a good idea? Guest guest
Others will know exactly where to find that file but the reason for not doing a challenge is high redistribution. When you take a high dose of any chelating agent you are going to mobilize a lot of metals. Good you would think except that all of it can't get out of the body and it resettles causing potentially a lot of trouble. It also doesn't give a good representation of what mercury is in the body. We did this with my son before I knew better and he didn't shoe elevated levels of anything. Hair test showed toxic though and he is responding wonderfully to chelation. If you want a challenge type test most would recommend doing a few rounds of a safe chelation protocal and then doing some testing. Even then it is often better to just observe your child. If she responds well to chelation keep it up. josielnelson <josie.nelson@...> wrote: Hi: Can someone point me to a part of the files or just remind me why the DMSA challenge test our DAN recommended (she would challenge with oral and then do transdermal for treatment if we wanted) is not necessarily a good idea? Guest guest
Hi, I too went thru a similar " challenge " test about 2 weeks ago with my daughter who's 3 yrs 4 mos. She seems to have responded well to it and I noticed some minor improvements right away - I used the transdermal DMSA every 4 hours for 2 days only. I'm waiting impatiently to see if anything showed as coming out on the urine test (hopefully will find out tomorrow). The problem that I had was that my daughter's DAN doctor would not just let me start chelating without the challenge test. That is a dilemma - I know that people on this site don't recommend it. I'm eager to continue with it regardless of the results, but I don't know if DMSA transdermal is available without a prescription. Question I'd like to pose to the group - can this all be done without a doctor's oversite? Isn't DMSA by prescription? Thanks, > > Hi: > > Can someone point me to a part of the files or just remind me why the > DMSA challenge test our DAN recommended (she would challenge with oral > and then do transdermal for treatment if we wanted) is not necessarily > a good idea? Guest guest
> can this all be done without a doctor's oversite? Isn't > DMSA by prescription? , you can buy DMSA (oral) from vrp.com. You don't need a doctor for that. You can buy ALA from any HFS. Valentina
Guest guest
Hi Patty, I'm going to be alone tomorrow and was just wondering if you think that it's ok that I do the challenge by myself. I guess I just don't know what to expect and my husband is concerned about letting me do this alone. Mercola said I would feel worse and if I already feel like I'm dying, it can't be that much worse, can it?? Love, PH
Guest guest
PH,If you're going close enough to home to call someone if you need help, you should do fine. . . But if you're driving from St. Louis to Chicago - With the weather, etc., I'd definitely get someone to go with you. Hugs,Rogene
