And here's the second half of Sunday, July 19, from mid afternoon through

bedtime:

3:04 PM: 152/8.4; Those bagels pack a mean punch some times! That's why I try

not to do them very often, but some times I just need a break. I'm okay with

this reading at this time in the afternoon, on a Sunday. I can take a nice nap,

and not have to eat a snack. It will drop slowly, and I'll be in good shape for

dinner.

4:57 PM: 135/7.5; Well, after nap time, a little higher than I expected. I won't

dose any insulin since it is dropping, and dinner is still well over an hour

away.

6:30 PM: 102/5.6; Chef's salad, with chicken and lean pork, along with 1 hard

boiled egg chopped up. Lots of vegies, with Romaine lettuce, with lite Italian

dressing. I indulged in something I do once every couple of months (seriously),

and had half a serving of Frito corn chips. A serving is 32 chips, which is 16

grams of carbohydrate and 10 grams of fat. I also had small serving of cantelope

for dessert. 10 units of Humalog.

9:20 PM: 105/5.83; This is my first evening check, and is just about where I

like it.

10:24 PM: 92/5.1; Bedtime snack of handful of dry roasted peanuts and bowl of

cereal. Will take 9 units of Lantus then.

I won't be posting my readings for a little while, but may do it again as I am

still pondering splitting my bedtime Lantus.

Yay! I woke up at 104 today!! I can deal with that, when I wake up at 150, I

spend the entire day trying to bring it down. In that way I miss insulin a

little.

How you thought about going through your DARS, commission for the blind,

etc? My wife is a diabetes educator and in her services, she provides

talking scales, talking glucometers, and talking blood pressure cuffs, just

to name a few things. She is in Texas and we are diabetes educator

contracted. If you can get it free, why not, Check it out.

Since I am retired in Georgia, unless their policies have changed, which I

doubt, the only route for blind assistance is through vocational rehabilitation,

and since I am retired and over 65 years, I doubt I would qualify for any

services at all. Thanks for letting me know.

Well Harry, I was 64 when I finished my massage therapy course.

I was 67 when I decided to see if voc rehab would help me set up a business

so it is possible (although unlikely - LOL)

Funding seems to be tenuous at best these days.

The talking scales are about $30 to $35 as I recall.

There are far more expensive models but the cheaper ones work just fine.

Hey guys,

morning sugar was 98, 5.4. . pre-breakfast was 98, 5.4. ate a hard boiled egg, a

few pieces of pepperoni and a mozzarella cheese stick.

2 hour post was 78, 4.3.

pre-lunch was 88, 4.8. I had brown mustard and dipped chicken chunks in it. I

also had some more pepperoni and mozzarella cheese stick. I dosed 2 units for

the lunch.

2 hour-post was 93, 5.1.

pre-dinner was 99, 5.5. I had a plate of scrambled eggs that my mother in law

made. My gosh were they amazing! I dosed 2 units to cover the meal.

I didn't get to eat many veggies today since I was in office at work and could

not really prepare them. Tomorrow I am going to try to eat veggies at

lunch/dinner.

Tonight, I am going to try a glass of red wine again.
