Guest guest
The thing is, with me, small amounts of regular sugar don't seem to bother me. I've checked my bg at all hours in the middle of the night (following eating my cereal), and although this is really the only times I can't seem to be consistent, despite the sugar, I'll often get readings that are good for me or even low. Guest guest
yeah, I've tried the mini weats... I think the last one was brown sugar or some such thing. Also tried strawberry. Guest guest
Hi all: Oo I hate this subject when I have been bad. Actually Friday I ranged from 5.3 to 8.9. Daturday was 3.2 to 6.8. Sunday was ahem ahem. 14.2 down to 9.3 Monday I can't remember right now. Tuesday was 10.2 to 7.8. this morning I was horrified though. It was so hot in our house. 100.4 and I forgot and drank about three glasses of juce and my sugar was a wopping 20 this morning. Oh man I couldn't believe I did that. This afternoon though I am back down to 9.3 and hope to get down even more by bedtime. 20 though. I couldn't believe how much damage juce can do. To keep spiritually fit, consult the Great Physician. Guest guest
Hi Dave: Oh I agree. Even though I don't like admitting to those high sugars which made me look really bad, it is good to be accountable. But I don't feel judged here, just encouraged. I know that most of us slip up sometimes. And it has been making me take my sugar more often to check it up. it is a good thing for us to be doing I think. To keep spiritually fit, consult the Great Physician. Love and hugs, and the furry ones. Guest guest
well Pat, you could always dip the celery in chocolate and cream cheese, right? *grin*. Guest guest
Hi Windy, Try eating something with a set number of carbs so you limit the impact of the sugar. I do not know where you live, but here in the united states, there is a candy called smarties. A package of smarties has 6 grams of carbohydrates. 6 grams of carbohydrate will raise your sugar around 1.0 points. so if you were 2.2, you would eat 3 packages of smarties to come up to around 5.2. If you drank three glasses of juice, how much would that raise you? It is not measurable. The main tool used for predicting your increase of blood sugar is a thing called glucose tablets. Those are pretty much sold everywhere. 1 4 gram glucose tablet will raise your sugar 1.0 points or there about. The concept though is that you can predict your blood sugar and not spike... just find something that has a set number of carbohydrates in it and use it. Try to find something with 4 to 6 carbohydrates in it and understand that that will raise you around 1.0 points. Guest guest
Hey!! ! You're right, we are not here to judge, only help and encourage each other! If we can say out loud what's on our mind, it helps everyone! We are a peer support group, and that is what we are about!! Not admitting to slip ups does not make them go away!! Smile! Guest guest
Aren't weekends the killer? I am going to a big picnic this weekend with all the wrong foods-and iI wil enjoy every single bad bite (I will try to keep the amount I eat donw, however.) Re: your blood sugar results I haven't posted in a few days. Well, the weekend was rough, barbecues, pizza parties and such! I was bad!! Saturday, I ranged from 6.3 (113) to 7.2 (129) Sunday 6.6 (119) to 8.1 (146) Monday 5.6 (101) to 6.5 (117) Today 5.0 (90) to 6.2 (111) Getting back to lean meat and vegetables sure helps!! Guest guest
I'll try to spend most of my time smoozing with the people. Maybe I will loose weight walking around to different tables??? Guest guest
Ll that sugar Dave! Try Cheerios with Splenda and raspberries. Re: your blood sugar results I'm actually experimenting with a different cereal--frosted mini-wheats! Now, the sugar is 1 gram higher than Lucky Charms, but that's in a whole serving. It looks like half a serving, or about 12 pieces, works pretty well. That's still around 22 grams of carbohydrates, but about 6 grams of sugar. The greatest benefit is that it's a whole wheat product, and therefore is high in fiber (about 3 grams with half a serving). Guest guest
Oh no! Several deviled eggs might do, but not the dreaded celery and carrot sticks! Guest guest
Yeah, , juice is one of the worse things to drink. A 4 oz. galss of jice is about twice the amount of carbs in one piece of fruit. Guest guest
They have them at wallmart or dollar stores. There are probably 15 in a rolled up package and the rolled up package is just a little rounder than a pencil. I think there are around 30 packages in a bag for a few dollars.
