Guest guest
Amy and Kim, Please tell me again the name of the surgeon you are using in Orange Park. If you wouldn't mind...I'd like to know the cost too. I am really wanting to get my arms, breasts and tummy done but I will have to start saving now!! My husband is all for it but wants the details. If you would like to e-mail me privately with the info...its Tigerchamps01@.... I'm going to try and make the Orange Park get together on Saturday...but probably won't know until Thursday if I'll be able to get there or not. Keep your fingers crossed. Marie P. Guest guest
His name is Dr. Weiss. I don't know what the costs are, as my insurance is paying for some, and I am paying for some, etc. I think you'd have to work that out directly with him. I hope to see you Saturday Marie! Amy. Guest guest
Hi Amy and Kim: This is (Rhia's mom). Boy, oh boy do I remember being in the boat that you two are rowing right now. Not fun. Amy - I know EXACTLY what you mean when you say that your orthotist gets mad at you when you go over his head. I actually was threatened by a PT when I asked about cranial nerves. Yes, threatened. How? The PT looked at me very intently (one could say angrily) and told me, and I quote " I think that your daughter is not getting better because YOU are non-compliant " as she held my daughter's medical records in her had with her pen poised. This was after I asked her about cranial nerves, innervation of the SCM muscle (Cranial Nerve #XI is the nerve that innervates the SCM muscle, and the PT - yes, the Physcial Therapist whose job it is to work with muscles and potential brain injured or brain damaged people did not know this. There are only 12 Cranial Nerves. It's not that much info to remember.) AFter that meeting I called her supervisor and asked to NEVER work with her again. I asked if the PT's had any anatomy training. I asked if the PT's had access to Anatomy books. I asked if the PT's were required to know mucles, nerve innervations, and basic kineisiology. I was LIVID that this chick DARE threaten me due to her lack of knowledge of her own profession! AFter that, I never attended a meeting with a PT or the surgeon without my anatomy book and my own notebook. I was sure to write notes in front of everyone so that they were clear that I was recording as well. Of course, they laughed at me and tried to make me feel foolish - the talked really fast, etc. But I could keep up. I had had medical terminology training so I knew what to ask and how to keep up. After a while their demeanure changed (when they realized I really did know what I was doing.) Good luck to both of you - do what YOU think is best. As my aunt told me - " Nobody really cares at all about your baby but YOU. " What she meant is that at the end of the day, YOU are really the only one that will truly advocate in your baby's behalf. The orthotists, PT's, OT's, surgeon's, etc. have jobs to do and co-workers to appease and quotas to fill and insurance companys to deal with and standards to keep. So it's not really personal against them either. It's just the way it is. Best wishes! , Rhiannon's mom And that was just another day of many of mistreatment, cajoling, name- calling, and bullying that I had to endure to get my daughter well. Astonishing. > > > > > so sorry to have left so abruptly... booted > me...grrrrrrr. > > > > > anyways i was going to let you know...i don't know how far > it > > is > > > > from > > > > > you but there is a cranial tech in madison and one in > > milwaukee. > > > > you > > > > > can go to their web site to see their map > > > www.cranialtech.com > > > > > keep us posted...kelly
