Thanks Irene! that was so sweet and honest of you to say. I do know

that doesnt mean it doesnt hurt... I just have to accept it and move

on, thats all I can do. If your standing in my way I will walk right

over you, you keep standing in my way and I will get rid of you, so I

think they get this now.

Have you found hotel accomodations yet? I can personnally vouch for

the Ramada - and they have a free shuttle if you have AAA ($80ish)

they have special rates and may have for other things too. the

Travler's hotel I've been told and is in the lower $ groups - I have

also stayed at the Alpine/Bell Tower Inn - while clean - just a room -

no shuttle pickup - you have to walk across the street to St. 's

Hospital to shuttle to mayo (but under $40 per night).

Remember to save all your receipts and track your miles if you

itemize you can deduct the costs of travel to and from plus food and

lodging during your stay as medical expenses (ALSO FOR A CAREGIVER -

husband or friend). These can be used if you itemize expenses and

you meet the standards for medical deductions ($ medical costs must

be 10% or greater of your taxable income). If you need anything

else, or would more " advise " let me know...

, Having positive pleasant things to

look forward to is vital for all of us. I have the best.. my daughter

and son-in-law will have their baby in February.

I know that many of us are grandparents...I'm already Mom mom to Darah

Ariela Zion ( 22months) but this new baby is so very special....modern

technology

made this baby possible!!!They went through 3 failed artificial

inseminations, and one other IVF before this wonderful baby was

created!!!almost 2 years!!!!

My daughter is the most giving, caring, person in the

world...she's wanted to be a mom forever. She was always a child magnet

....any where she went children were drawn to her!!!! If anyone should

be a mom it's her!!!!I just want everything to be perfect....they will

not know boy/girl because so much science was

involved that they want a surprise!!!! So, I really have a positive

occasion to look forward to.

In addition to all that excitement , we're moving in January!!!!!

I also have another semester of pottery workshop for experienced

potters on campus..this one was cancelled due to the construction of

the new art complex!!!

My hands need the wet cold clay...believe it or not..my arthritis

doesn't hurt when working in the cold wet wonderfully messy clay!!!!

force myself to meet my quota. I'm going to have fun whether I like

it or not. Now, I have to come up with the ideas of the things I'd

most like to do during those days. As I approach July 31 I'll make

another list based on my health at that point. You know we watch that

we take our meds. We keep records of how frequently we do other

things. But we don't do well at all toward holding ourselves

accountable for "planned pleasant activities". I was in a group once

where that was a homework requirement and you had to report back each

week. Well, it should be as much a part of our lives as anything

else. I challenge everyone to come up with a monthly number and make

sure you live up to it as a commitment to yourself. Now I just need

ideas......so far I have two zoos and Fossil Rim, an incredible

wildlife reserve on my list. Oh and I do have concert tickets for

February. I know i might not be in condition but if not, I'll sell

them. I'm just going to keep planning to enjoy things as best I can.

Heck, if I could figure out where I wanted to go, I'd really force my

hand by booking a vacation for next July. Then I'd have to do

whatever it took to take that vacation, oxygen wise or other wise.

Two hours is mine too. Although, you know.....all those years I

packed it into one hour or less, I felt rushed. I can do two hours

comfortably and once I adjusted to the reality I actually feel less

stress in getting ready.

Oh, medications.....I almost need a computer program. I had one brief

spell in which if I was 10 minutes early or late on any med or eating

during the day I was up the creek. Had to start with one med that

required an hour before the next which then required an hour before

food which then I couldn't take another until two hours after I ate

and it had to be at least one hour before another meal and this cycle

repeated at night as well. I finally just gave up on breakfast and

went to two meals a day to get it to fit in. And water.....now as an

older man the last thing I need is a med at bedtime that requires me

to drink at least eight ounces of water with it. Finding out which of

the warnings to even follow is too confusing. I once got a

prescription telling me it must be taken with 8 ounces of milk. OMG,

Milk makes me so sick on my stomach but I thought maybe there was

something that worked together and it was after hours. When I found

out the purpose of the milk was to make it easier on my stomach, I

was not pleased that I'd consumed eight ounces of that horrible

poisonous substance for nothing. Thats the last time I've had

milk....around 1973 I believe. lol.

Thats the last time I've had

milk....around 1973 I believe. lol.

I'm officially jealous. Now might be the time though for all of you

who are grandparents to commit to some frequency of seeing them.

Don't start the year thinking you'll see them a certain number of

times but end up with it only 60% of that.

Pottery workshop makes sense with the cold clay. My legs and feet

feel best (peripheral neuropathy) when my feet are cold and no socks

or shoes. You can't imagine how many times during my hospital stay I

had to uncover after the nurse or tech covered or remove socks they

had decided I needed.

Oh, medications.....I almost need a computer program. I had one

brief

spell in which if I was 10 minutes early or late on any med or eating

during the day I was up the creek.

Thats the last time I've had

milk....around 1973 I believe. lol.

Two hours is mine too. Although, you know.....all those years I

packed it into one hour or less, I felt rushed. I can do two hours

comfortably and once I adjusted to the reality I actually feel less

stress in getting ready.

Oh, medications.....I almost need a computer program. I had one

brief

spell in which if I was 10 minutes early or late on any med or eating

during the day I was up the creek.

Thats the last time I've had

milk....around 1973 I believe. lol.

Thanks Kristal, actually made my reservations last week staying at

Best Western soldiers field, suite has a full kitchen so I can cook

for for myself. We used my husbands military rate because that was

cheaper then any Mayo patient rate, or AAA or any of them, got it for

72.00 anight which isnt bad at all when you consider it a suite.

I do itemize my deductions and just about every year I qualify for

the medical deduction, and they wonder why I am POOR! I make good

money but all that money goes out the door on living in a house and

paying for medication, arghhh

Thanks so much for the information! I didnt know all of it could be

deducted so I will save everything.
