I also take ALA which lowers insulin resisitance 20 percent and exercise which lowers 20 percent but combing the two of them cause a decrease of 65 percent. I think you would see the situation this person talks about if you were peaking very high with every meal and then getting it back down.....at that point I would wonder how hard you pancreas is working to get it down. ressy

Guest guest
Jacky, 5.4 (97 US) pre meal and 6.4 post meal (115 US) are well within non-diabetic ranges. Congratulations on these levels and the weight loss. Just a few more questions: What are your readings when you first get up in the morning (taken right away)? How long after your meals do you take your post meal readings (two hours after gives a reasonable indication as to whether we are " recovering " fairly quickly from a meal while a 1 to 1 1/4 hour test can give us an indication of how high we are peaking)? Have you checked your readings 2 to 2 1/2 hours after you get up, particularly if you have not yet eaten, to see how high they go (many of us find that this may be our highest time of the day because of the hormonal changes when we first become active)? Again, I'm not a doctor, but I don't think the blood sugar levels you reported indicate that diabetic meds are needed. Guest guest
I thought I'd answered this earlier today. I've been moderate (100 grams of carb per day) carbing for 4 of the 5 years since dx, and it was this list that convinced me, when I found myself on ever increased meds without good control, eating rice and beans. When I need to lose a few pounds, I lower that to around 60. Barb, type II, insulin by choice for better control, 5'4 " , 125 pounds, age: 58, physical farm work > I think that would be Barb, who's been on the list since its inception about > four years ago. Guest guest
Hi Jeanna, This isn't really " long term " , but I was dxed 2/1/99 and have been eating 70 - 120 carbs a day, which includes 25-40 grams of mixed fiber). My diet varies depending on where I am and what I'm doing. My former (pre-DM) diet included lots of food only available through drive-through windows. Health.....I have 0 perceivable microalbumin on the 24 hr urine test and normal creatinin My total chol is 156... Trig 100 LDL 85 HDL 51 I've maintained consistent hba1cs between 4.9 - 5.4 (both scores came during the same week with different labs.) And the best part....this week, I had a stress (treadmill) echocardiogram and was told I have the heart of a 25 yr old. The rest of me is 51. So, I think I'm healthy for now <g> Carol T In a message dated 3/10/02 6:36:09 PM Pacific Standard Time, whimsy2@... writes: Jeanna@... writes: > o I was wondering who do we have on the list > that has been low/mod carbing for Type II Diabetes > the longest? Guest guest
Hi, My name is Larissa..I just joined from a web site.Wow i got an unbelievable amount of e-mails from different people. But your ? was about tubes coming undone naturally.I have heard it was possible, have you ever heard of it happeneing?I was hoping that it was true, but so far nothing has happened.I had my daughter 6 years ago and had my tubes tied the day after, thinking i wouldnt want another baby, until that is that i met a wonderful man.I have 3 kids and he loves them all,but its not the same. I was also wondering if insurance companys cover the cost and how much they are. Also wondering what kind of tests they do before you can get a reversal.
