Hi! Just wanted to say I'm so glad that your op all went well - it

sounds as though you are doing brilliantly. What a relief to know

the septum has now gone.

With best wishes for a really speedy recovery

IIRC, I filled a pad with pink blood the day of lap/hyst surgery and

after that it was almost negligible. Since you have something left

behind in your uterus, you can expect to bleed much more than

without; I found that out after my hyst-only metroplasty, when the

surgeon left a dissolvable adhesion barrier inside. It took four

days to expell it, and I bled and cramped as if I had a light period

until expulsion happened. Then blood and cramping shut off like a

light bulb.

Glad you found this easy! I'm not sure I would have liked having a

uterine catheter, but you seem to be handling it with aplomb.

Well, I don't like it. I can't walk very fast, or the movement of my

right leg (where it's taped) pulls it around in my vagina which feels

very disgusting. But, I am glad to be fairly well assured of not

getting adhesions, and one week of discomfort seems a small price to

pay. I'm also thankful not to have had the lap. I know the recovery

is worse.

Lucky you Penni!

I hate my balloon cath too. I get to remove it myself next tuesday.

Enjoy your tube-free day!

Hi Penni,

My doc told me how. At the bottom of the tube, where it's taped to

my thigh, the tube splits into 2. One side has a big plastic plug in

it. The other side has a white ring that reads " lubricath. Inflate

with 10 ml " They told me to de-tape the tube from my thigh, then

take scissors and cut the side with the white ring. Water will drain

out of the tube. When all the water is drained out, then I am

to " tug gently but firmly " until I tug the deflated balloon out of my

uterus, thru the cervix and out of my vagina. If I cannot get it

out, I'm supposed to call them.

I know, sounds pretty nasty. But, I'll be doing the happy dance of

joy while cutting my tube.

Hi all! Haven't posted in some time, needed a break, but try to read

the post on a regular basis. Have seen all of the recent photos and

their all beautiful! Great news! We have a vocational service

center, Tommy Nobis Center, which is doing a youth program for the

summer. Out of the 15 openings given to our county Kim was choosen,

one of two, from her high school to attend the center. She will

learn more work skills, attend 2 classes and will even get paid

minimum wages. She is really excited about it. She had to go to an

interview and answer questions and sign all of the paper work. Even

though I was sitting right beside her I had to turn my head as I

wanted to answer for her and she was looking at me for answers. The

interviewer looked at me and said " mom she can do this " . My baby is

growing up. It brought tears to my eyes as I thought I would never

see this day and it has come so quickly. Its been an eye opener for

me. The para transit in our city won't pick her up because we live

3/4 of a mile from the bus route. They did say I could drop her off

at a stop which is located at a busy intersection and if it rained

she could go to the church for cover. I don't think so. I've had to

rearrange my work schedule and going to have to rely on friends to

pick her up in the afternoons. I now realize that without this

opportunity I would not be able to work during the summer as she is

now too old for the camp that I work with. She's only 16. I have a

feeling it will get more difficult as she gets older. People just

don't get it. Alot of her friends who are 17 and 18 don't have alot

available to them. It makes me want to start some kind of program

for kids with disabilities I just don't know where to start or how to

get the funding. Sorry this is so long. I'm just so proud of Kim and

it is so hard to cut the cord. Everyone take care!

Way to go Kim, A program would be great I hope you are able to start one. I am

hoping to start a daycare for special needs children sometime in the next couple

of years. I do not think there is one around here just for special needs

children and I think it would be a great help to many parents.

So glad to hear from you! What a pair of nice folks you have, too,

setting you up with some diversion from the bedrest. Hang in there,

and try not to set a record for complications acquired in one week ;-)
