You might want to try the turtles menus too Kitty! Might help you to see

what a 'normal' day of Atkins eating looks like - and the vast majority of

people who do the turtles menus without cheating lose weight!

SK,

I've just been keeping track of my calories/fat this week. I seem to be

getting a lot from my Atkins shakes (I use 1/4 C cream in them),

macadamia nuts, ground beef (not 90% lean, about 80 %, I think) Atkins

rolls (about 52-53 calories each in a batch of 6), butter, salad

dressing and my protein bars (about 225 calories each, depending on

brand) they also provide fat (protein revolution 8 grams, Atkins 13). I

have been losing this week and my carb counts have been well under 20.

Hope this helps! I'm not a fancy cook, I do do sauces or fancy stuff

(sauces if they come in a jar), I do like beef so that adds to fat and

calories. I also eat a fair amount of mayo (2-3 Tbs with my burgers), oh

and bacon too.

:)

Lots of fatty meats for me. I lost 4.5 pounds last week and every day

was filled with roast duck or roast pig from the Chinese supermarket and

curried goat from Raja, an Indian steam table. A bit of sambal olek to keep

it interesting.I cheated twice and had broccoli with cheese. This was an

experiment and it worked. Both the pig and the duck were very fatty. My dd

and dw like the goat so I had less of it. This week it is ham, roast, pork

chops, and hopefully T-bones if they look good at the market tomorrow

because they are on sale. This week also some caulitators with Indian

spices, spinach, and broccoli. Only a cup or two of veggies a day though as

they tend to fire up cravings for me. I feel off the wagon last night and

had one big carb snack but like the folks who just have a drink or two

without messing up there weight loss this does not bother my weight loss.

What is tough is not to do it again.

I've been averaging 1800 calories/day, about 75% fat, and I've lost 3

(1 came back over the weekend, boo hoo, since then I'm avoiding the

scale). I only wish to lose 15 or so pounds and am not very heavy,

just chubby. I don't know if I'll have to reduce calories to lose

more, but I plan to give it the old college try before I do LOL! It

seems like those whom are more overweight can eat a lot of calories

and still lose, as long as they stay lc.

Eat more, girl! Remind us why you've given up dairy? If it's to see

if you can lose if you do, I think you'd be better off fixing your

intake before you start worrying about intolerances. JMO.

I usually have eggs and or sausage for breakfast & coffee w/ cream, 1

oz nuts and pork rinds w/ cheese for snacks, turtle lunch salad,

turtle dinner stuff. I move things around a little but try to stay

close.

I have looked at it.

I'm a loser and didn't do anything I planned last

night..I crawled into my Final Fantasy game with an

italian sausage (the only thing left defrosted after I

burned my chicken *sigh*)..and didn't come out till

after 11pm...

TONIGHT I shall bake...and I have pretty much

everything to get started on the turtle menu...some of

the stuff doesn't seem too.portable though.

My whole family has a lactose intolerance and also I

can get really carried away with it..

I can eat small amounts of cheese or cream without

pain, but I do have to limit it...I figured I'd try

cutting it out completely for a week to see how I

feel..

erf it's hard. I had some pork rinds this morning and

SO wanted sour cream with them. Instead I melted some

butter, put a little garlic and hot sauce in

it..yummy.

Oh that is so rough, I really feel for you. I have a milk allergy,

but I can tolerate some stuff better than others. I have actually

found that I don't have the same problems now that I have eliminated

wheat from my diet, I am allergic to it too. That may be the reason

I've blown up the last couple of days, I had wheat in some fried fish

breading, also I'm certain there was corn starch in the queso I ate

on Sunday. I understood that cream and cheese are not as bad as

milk? Anyway, it sounds to me like you are doing right by laying off

and seeing how you do.

OMG...

my mother and sisters are completely sensitive to

wheat too....plus hypoglycemic makes low-carbing a

natural choice for the whole family.

I on the other hand get completely energized by

wheat...or anything with fiber in it..

of course I have IBS and a high fiber diet is painful

for me.....life has a sick sense of humour sometimes.

I figure I'll cut out the dairy for a week..then seen

how I feel..and reintroduce it back 1 serving (1oz

cheese, or 2tbsp sour cream) at a time to find my

threshold..I have lactaid but it kinda stops you up

*heh*.

I LOVE cheese and I will be very unhappy if it turns

out I can't have any of it....

I'm hypoglycemic as well, low-carb has been really great for me too.

And IBS, but very mild, not a real problem much anymore. Fiber

doesn't agree w/ me either. I tried adding psyllium husks to my diet

but that just did not work, I have found flax oil keeps things moving

along nicely, heh heh. For some weird reason, I do better w/ cheese

if it is warm rather than cold.

I don't know if I told you but I think it's cool you're studying to

be a naturopath. Do you have to study a long time? Where do you

take the classes?

Yeah it should take me about 5 or 6 years since it's a

Doctorate degree...I have not decided if my final

degree will be N.D. (natural doctor) or Ph.D.

(Doctorate of Philosophy in natural health).

I have 1.5 years left of my bachelor's..then 2 years

Masters, 2 years doctorate...plus a practicum..bleah.

Right now I am taking classes locally..but I am going

to have to get some certification which may involve

some travel...

I am a bit worried though..some organization is trying

to push so that you have to be an MD to be a

naturopath which is ridiculous since naturopaths do

not do ANY Surgery (or even put in an IV)...do not

prescribe medication...and should never try to handle

anything which you should be going to an MD for..

this is already the law in 5 states...but it doesn't

seem to be expanding from there...

I see a naturopath as a combination

nutritionist/master herbalist...though I have

considered also studying to be a midwife...I believe

we overuse our MDs and are extremely quick to pop

pills or get ourselves cut open to fix a problem (I

myself suffered extreme stomach aches for months and

had a diagnostic laporoscopy..which was

inconclusive...I am managing my stomach pains with

diet and meditation)...I think some of the medical

community sees naturopaths as trying to take over the

position of an MD..this is SO WRONG...M.D.s are

WONDERFUL...if you are bleeding, feverish...oh about a

dozen other things....GO SEE A DOCTOR...any naturopath

who would tell you otherwise SUCKS...while most

naturopaths are " Dr.s " ..they are not

DOCTORS...naturopaths have " clients " not

" patients " ......and..and..I'm ranting, aren't I?

hehe..

sorry
