Guest guest
I'm not sure I could do that, Pat. I can use the pen but just to use the lancet would bother me. It still bothers me to use the pen, for that matter but I know I have to do it. Well, I now have six boxes of lancets for six cents so I guess I made quite a bargain. With strips being rather high it's good to save on something. I sometimes think that the strips are defective because I do everything the same way and at times I get absolutely no response. If I'm going to look like a pin cushion, at least it won't be expensive. *smile* Question > > Hi, Everyone, > > I have a question for you. > My friend went to a store which used to be Drug Emporium but has become > something else. Guest guest
in order to get any blood out of my fingers, I have to run hot water over them for at least one minute to warm them up. some times if I am in a hurry, I just stick my self in the same spot three times and the blood comes out pretty good. Guest guest
Such a deal! You can't even buy anything in the penny machines anymore. Guest guest
Thanks, Mike, for the website. I read the article you suggested along with a few others. My educator told me to squeeze the finger above where it was stuck and that generally works. I put pressure on the finger above the stick and hold it for a count of about ten. Now this morning's test was trouble free which is just how I like it. One stick, one strip. Thank you for your help. Guest guest
I can remember penny candy and penny stamps and gum balls, too. Guest guest
I still don't like the finger sticks. My hands have been so cold lately that there are times when I have to wait until I have ridden my bicycle and they warm up. It's been cool in the house the last few mornings and that's why. By the way, for anyone interested, I called and got the results of my A1C today. I'm not thrilled, but we're going in the right direction. It went from 13.? to 10.3 which is an improvement. It took me 6 weeks to get it down that far. Now my medication is increased and yesterday I rode my bike for an hour and fifteen minutes. Not bad considering that ten days ago I could only ride it for two minutes. I think I'm going in the right direction, I just need to hurry up and get there. My goal is to be able to ride for an hour in one session by the beginning of October. And, by the next A1C, I would like it to be down at least three more points if not more. Does that sound realistic?
Guest guest
: I should think that's a realistic goal. As for the cold hands, wash them thoroughly with soap and warm water; let the warm water run on them for a minute or two and you should have less trouble getting enough blood. Hang in there!
