Hi vicky!

Oh the glasses I had to wear then! Might as well have put the bottoms of

Coke bottles on my face!

I was just a geeky bookwormish klutzy kind of kid.

I'm still a bit of a klutz but the glasses are gone of course!

giggle

but I am still a bookworm!

Just finished one book today and started another one!

thanks Vicky!

Need all the soumates I can get!

how old are you?

I'm on what I call the down hill slide to 46!

Welcome, Margarita. I know we have other UK members here. There is quite a

bit of information, success stores, books and links in our shared files and

on our website. Both url's are at the bottom of each message.

Some of us have found that lowering our carbohydrate intake has greatly

helped our weight loss, blood sugar control, blood pressure and cholesterol.

I really recommend " Dr. Bernstein's Diabetic Solution " as the best book on

diabetes information, written by a type 1 for over 50 years doctor. The

website is http://www.diabetes-normalsugars.com There are excerpts of the

book there too.

Glad to see you here,

Barb

Does the docs in the UK handle diabetes the same as the US? My husband

is from Berkshire and just moved here three years ago. I was just

diagnosed a few weeks ago.

from reading this list no, the US diabetics are much better at controlling

their diabetes. Although the docs appear to be less informed. I am now

following the same sort of regime as members on this list and am feeling much

better in myself. My BGs are still too high and am gradually increasing my

insulin. I have found list of great help and would like to thank everyone on

it for all the information and tips.Good luck Susie.

Hi . You've been dealing with diabetes twice as long as I have. I am a

type 2 so I also haven't had to deal with shots. I am not enough of an

expert to make any suggestions but have you consulted with a nutritionist? I

think my nutritionist knows more about foods and their effect on my systems

than my doctor. Yikes! I thought 5 times a day was a pain, but 20 times a

day? I can understand your frustration.

Hi, ...what kind of insulin are you taking? What diet plan do you

follow? Do you keep notes of what you eat and its relationship to your BGs?

Do you exercise? Give us a little more information...I bet we can help you.
