I know that I should watch my noutricionso will look into the splenda thing and

I think I'll bake some cookies with splenda too but just as a treat. I found

some russel stougher' and witman sugarless chocolates and find that they're

quite satisfactory with a carb reading of 9 so that's not too bad. Ken b

how much can I have of the sweet stuff using a

sugar manager!

I am wondering, as the subject indicates, if I can have that small piece

of

pie or say a couple of sweet cookies, or such, each day if I manage to

keep

my sugars down by taking say, some Metformen, or the like? You know,

enough to keep down the suger levels. BTW, I am trying a *cromium*

tablet

that states on the bottle, that I should only take one a day, so has

anyone

on list tried some of these natural food suppliments to keep the dreded

sugar down? I'm a type two diabetic. Thanks for any advise. Ken b in

Humalog stays in the system for 3-4 hours, then it is gone. How many units

of Humalog did you use at breakfast? Lunch? Dinner?

How many grams of carbs did you consume at breakfast? Lunch? Dinner?

What was your blood glucose reading just before breakfast? Lunch? Dinner?

What was your blood glucose reading two hours after breakfast? Lunch?

Dinner?

If you do not know the answers to these questions, I would suggest that you

are just shooting insulin in the dark. If this is the case, you will never

master blood glucose level control.

Ken,

My friend no one ever said that getting used to a particular diet was

fun or easy. Breaking old habits and learning to satisfy yourself

without the " comfort " foods you are used to is a real witch.

It ain't easy my friend. I have the dubious privilege of telling Crystal

" count them carbs, count them carbs and " Oops, sorry, too many carbs in

that item. "

Sometimes this helpful information is not necessarily received in a

loving manner but, oh well, that's life a I want Crystal to avoid the

damage which is sure to come if she does not keep pretty much to the

strait and narrow.

Just hang in there my friend because there ain't no " Magic Silver

Bullet " . The Lone Ranger has already passed this way and won't be back

in time to lend a hand.

It will also become self evident that there also is no Ministry of

Fairness.

Well, Harry I believe you and realize that my blood readings is too

high according to you who have had experiencee re eating sweets, and the

like.I'm going to have to watch much more closely, my counts. I have

put this info in storage and will read it when I have to to keep a

clearer understandingof my situatiion. I appreciate your help; Ken b

As it happens would be a good way to learn exactly how many units of Humalog

it takes to handle a specific number of grams of carbs. I will translate UK

moles into USA standard readings. 7.8 moles is equivalent to a USA glucose

reading of 140.

harry, you are far smarter than i. i understand you worked at the university

and you really get technical and i respect that. but it is over my head. if

i understand what i am doing i do better. it makes sense to me. but if it is

too technical i get lost and walk away. just being honest and trying to

understand, best, karen

Research has shown that the most important reading for a diabetic is the two

hour post prandial blood glucose reading, which should be 120 or less. In

moles this is equivalent to a reading of 6.66. It sounds like a develish

number, but a 6 would be just fine.

After eating the peak glucose level is reached in the blood stream

approximately one hour after eating. Those who keep their post prandial

glucose readings around 6.66 moles or 120 or less USA will ultimately have

an A1C reading of 5.5 or less, which for a diabetic almost insures that

there will be no diabetic complications.
