Guest guest
Hi Sharon, I'm sure I don't have to tell you this, but I am anyway. ) Make sure the lab does the lactic acid test correctly, same with the pyruvate. We waited 30 minutes for APL to read how to do the tests (they aren't your run of the mill tests) and the they still messed it up. When we got home with two screaming hungry kids, they called and wanted us to come all the way back because the red tube was the one that the blood was supposed to go in. The gray was OK, red was preferred. I told them they could stick their tubes I was NOT going back! ) Plus the lactic has to be drawn free flowing and put on ice immediately if not sooner. This is just friendly advice so you won't have to go through it all again. ) The fasting was a pain, but keeping those little pee bags on the kids was worse! I had to take the urine back a few days later. Good luck... SOme labs do not even put it on ice and others use a turniquest to draw the blood - 2 big no nos. Thanks for the for the friendly advise.
