*************NEWS FLASH**************

CLANCY DECLARES HIMSELF THE ONE AND ONLY GOD!

************************************

In an unprecedented move, Clancy Imusland, self-proclaimed leader of the

ultra Orthodox AA Sect called the Pacific Group, declared that he is the

God of all creation, thus extending his dominion to all of humanity,

alcoholic and non-alcoholic alike. This startling revelation came to

him in the early sixties, shortly after having his front teeth kicked

out in a drunk tank for vomiting on a cellmate's bunk.

He is purported to have kept this epiphany to himself for the past

thirty-five years, planning to reveal his gift to the world on the

threshold of the Millennium, so that the general public would have time

to prepare for the coming Sober Millennium when sobriety and serenity

will reign supreme.

The Pacific Group's primary religious ritual occurs in their Lord and

Savior's back yard. Presently only Clancy's personal disciples have

bestowed upon them the great honor and privilege of scooping up his

hallowed canines' leavings.

Throngs of new devotees are filling the streets around Mr. Imusland's

Venice,CA home, brandishing 40oz. malt liquors and other assorted

intoxicants hoping to inflict themselves with the holy disease of

alcoholism that they too might have a chance at handling the consecrated

feces that fill his back yard. People around the world are reported to

be guzzling their way through enormous amounts of alcoholic beverages

in order that they might become one of the " chosen " ones.

Clancy has instructed the remaining non-alcoholic segment of humanity to

party like it's 1999, with hopes that everyone will hit bottom and start

working the 12 Steps by the year 2000.

Such a strain is being put on the world alcohol supply, that there is

concern that shortages could postpone the celebration of New Years Eve

2000. Of course, concern over alcohol shortages would become moot should

Mr. Imusland's predictions prove accurate.

Shock waves are being felt everywhere. World religions are panicking as

millions convert to Alcoholism.

Pope has issued a statement that Holy Communion in the

Catholic Church would now afford a full bottle of red wine for each

member of the congregation to wash down the traditionally dry host. It

is rumored that the newly ordained God's dogs' excrement may be used in

this holiest of sacraments to anoint the foreheads of the faithful.

There is only so much of the venerable waste to go around, so generic

dung will be blessed by a priest and used in very much the same way wine

is substituted for the blood of Christ. Parishioners needn't concern

themselves with issues of smell and hygiene, since the manure will be

completely sanitized and will retain little of its repugnant odor.

Holy books are being rewritten or usurped by the Big Book of Alcoholics

Anonymous. Rituals are being altered in all the major religions of the world.

Muslim leaders have overturned sacred edicts prohibiting the consumption

of alcoholic beverages.

The Jewish faith long known for its low incidence of alcoholism as well

as the rule for not driving after sundown on the Sabbath, has now

offered the option to drive only if intoxicated as an incentive to their

less alcoholically inclined following, with hopes of getting the Jewish

faith back in the running as the " chosen people " . Although still unsure

about Clancy's son, Jesus, they have fully embraced Clancy as their

foretold Messiah.

International drug cartels are scrambling as demand for non-alcoholic

intoxicants plummets. Cocaine once wielding an enormous price tag can

now be bought on the street for as little as $8.00 a gram. Local addicts

joke that soon you'll be able to pick up a dime bag for 10 cents.

No sooner had liquor manufacturers started basking in the glory of

exploding profits, that they became aware of Clancy's plan for a Sober

Millennium thus ending all demand for alcohol on New Years Eve 2000. On

Wall Street, alcohol related stocks are reeling and many people heavily

vested in alcoholic beverage securities are leaping to their deaths,

reminiscent of the '39 crash.

Doctors and scientists are analyzing samples of Clancy's dogs' stool,

following numerous reports of spontaneous remission from terminal

illness after the afflicted had merely trodden in the Hounds of Heaven's

effluent. There have also been hundreds of reports of people being

struck sober by the Big Book wielding Deity. Witnesses say that Clancy

merely raises the text heavenward, and swiftly brings it down upon the

head of the diseased individual. The person loses all desire to drink

followed by an insatiable compulsion to bring the teachings of 12 Steps

to the ignorant masses.

Mr. Imusland, having been reached for further comment, said that it

would not be necessary to call him by the name " GOD " since over the

years Clancy had come to mean pretty much the same thing.

When asked why he was establishing the " Sober Millennium " in the

beginning of the year 2000 as opposed to 2001 when new Millennium really

begins, he added, " Look I'm God around here, I'll start the Millennium

whenever I Clancydamn well please! "

I'll keep you posted on further developments, or feel free to post your

own installment.

Hi Guys,

True.

Unfortunately, the venerable Chuck C. is presently taking the proverbial

" dirt nap " . Although I'm no supporter of sponsorship, I think Chuck C.

was the only thing that was holding Clancy's megalomaniacal aspirations

in check.

Yes, I read " A New Pair of Glasses, " towards the end of my AA days, and

I found at least one of the references to Clancy's views of Sponsorship

to be, well, skeptical.

And I agree that when Chuck C. died Clancy went nutso.

The only reason I'm interested in " Clancy News " is my ex-sponsor wanted

emulate Clancy. The back yard, the whole bit.

My view of AA not as black & white as some on this list (as I have met

many great people in AA who I still keep in touch with although my

meeting attendance has long since stopped), but I think Clancy and his

often Powerful Followers are a genuinely dangerous segment of AA that

should be exposed.

By the way, whoever started this page, thank you for what I believe is

an extremely rare forum of sanity in this pseudo-new age-recovery soaked

world. I think the majority of people who attend AA eventually come to

the conclusion that its " not for them. "

Hard core AAers only SEEM like they're the majority. But have heart,

Sanity will prevail.

Thank you!

I think Chuck himself never had a sponsor.

On one of his tapes, in between prattling on about him and God, he said so.

Hi Pete,

When you die they throw dirt in your grave so you can take a nice " dirt

nap " . I stole the expression from Burgess Meredith in the movie Grumpier

Old Men with Walter Mathau and Jack Lemmon. He also had some great lines

about drinking, smoking, and eating bacon. He died shortly after the

film and left the rights for dirt nap to me.

Thanks for those words of hope, . I recall someone(Apple?) posting

recently that Ken Ragge, author of " The Real AA " , started this site. If

I'm wrong someone please correct me. If you like this forum you'll love

his book.

I'm guessing it's 6 feet under, pushing up daisies. Dead as a door nail.

Gone to meet his maker. Bought the farm. Kicked the bucket.

That took me completely by surprise, and made it twice as funny.8-)

I don't even think I caught the outtakes on the first movie. I must have

run out of the theater too fast. Funny Stuff! I can't wait to share it

with my buddies. Course I won't tell my brainwashed pal that I got it

from a refusenik on my 12 Step Free egroup. He probably figures we don't

have a sense of humor over here. Come to think of it a sense of humor

has to be a prerequisite for swallowing AA's horseshit. I guess we just

didn't get the joke.

It has become so much more natural to use the g-word (gratitude), since

I woke up on the right side of the recovery fence. I can finally use the

word gratitude without gagging, thanks to the wonderful resources made

available to us by the likes of Ken, Apple, and others.

Remember an Apple a day keeps Dr. Bob away. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

The good news is even if the old proctologist does show up, she pins

some rabbit ears on the zealot and stuffs some buck teeth in his mouth.

I'll bet some of you didn't know Dr. Bob was Butt Doctor. It looks like

even after he retired he still had to work with assholes. Poor old

bugger. Up to his elbows in 12 Step sphincters. Talk about pitiful,

incomprehensible demoralization.

Given the choice between living the spiritual life in AA and an

alcoholic death, I think Dr. Bob might have pondered the question more

seriously. Something to the tune of " How bad of an alcoholic death are we

talking about here? "

I think both of those movies were good. Usually the sequels don't

measure up, but personally, I liked them both. That one phrase just

sticks out in my mind. I just roared when I heard it! I love sharing

a good laugh, too!

So I'm a refusenik? That's a new one. I started calling myself a

" walkaway " when I left AA-which IS THE JOKE!!!

I still have one friend that goes to meetings-but not very often. She

has a life....! She has remained open to my choice to leave AA, and

that is what I call a true friend. There are a FEW open-minded AAers

out there.

Enjoy the movie!
