On our website, database -> ablations has some personal results for

people. Fairly discouraging if you look at them, but the success

rate has been increasing a lot recently, I think, for some docs.

It would certainly be interesting to see a disinterested report of

success rates with a common definition of success - totally getting

rid of afib vs. substantial improvement, etc.

An Electrophysiologist is a Cardiologist who specializes in the

electrical activity of the heart and in the diagnosis and treatment of

heart rhythm disorders.

Usually my skipped beats occurred after an episode of A-Fib. My

A-Fib felt like I had mice in my heart. My heart would start beating

crazy, then start racing.

Check out Focal Point Ablation to cure your A-Fib. I had A-Fib and

was completely cured four years ago. I put together a Web site with a

list of Doctors and Medical Facilities that perform this procedure

http://www.a-fib.com.

Focal Point catheter Ablation is a procedure that takes about two to

four hours under local anesthetic. Most A-Fib comes from the left atrium

pulmonary veins. The doctors simply zap those areas so they don't

produce A-Fib signals.

EPs are MDs. They can be found on the Web site http://www.naspe.org.

This is the Web site of the North American Society of pacing and

Electrophysiology which is a very useful Web site for information on

A-Fib. Also, check out my Web site http://www.a-fib.com for EPs who

specialize in Focal Point Catheter Ablation.

Thanks. Here in this country I cannot get to see an EP, or any other type of

specialist, without a refferral from my GP. So if my GP or cardio won't

refer me I am up against a brick wall. Until I can afford to see an EP I

will just have to hope that they will discover what is going on by other

means. I don't think health has the same implications in this country as it

does in the rest of the world. And no I can't change GP as there is no one

to change to.

If they have email they don't advertise it. Its a phone to the receptionist,

and if you're lucky they will phone back, or else you turn up at surgery and

wait your turn.

I shouldn't put them down so much, its not really their fault. It is the way

that the health service is run. Their hands are tied too. And these Dr's

cover a huge area which makes it difficult when the one on duty goes out on

call if there is another emergency. They also have limited budgets to work

with, which includes even extra when specialist refferals out of the health

area.

Thanks though

It's also true, I think, that even many Cardios etc aren't up on what

EPs and ablations can do.
